  • In todays video we have the maize in! Me & bro give the field a final cut of the Lemken harrow & then the contractor comes in to sow the maize under plastic as we don't have a maize planter for plastic. Father Phil is on the harrow just before the drill to leave a perfect seed bed. A lot less stones & wind this year so the plastic stays on.

Phil I have grown maize without plastic up in the north here for the last 7 years it works well another benefit is you can sown fert and spray the crop when it is growing and works better.

Honestly Phil, just ask the contractor if you can have a play with the 6310 next time, be a good video, I think you’d like a 10 series John Deere design. It’s perfection 👍

You were saying about missing the 6480 for picking stones, we use the gator, you can see out if it easily and jump in an out handy. Tip the stones out at the end too

The price of that biodegradable plastic is crazy prices, I priced it up for an area I plant veg about 1 acre. And since I amnt a farmer or a business could only buy 500 metre rolls of it for over £300, would hate to think about the prices of commercial roll and having to use it all that year because if it gets too wet/damp in storage its of no use

Phil for the crop of maize thats going in uncovered, would there be an argument for not spreading the slurry pre sowing but waiting til it's a foot or so tall and spreading with a dribble bar.

what you mean by Draft control? raising or lowering the 3 point linkage?

    • @FARMERPHIL3690

Yes it’s lifting or lowering 3 point linkage. The draft control is a more precise way to lift or lower the linkage

  • @MyPromixdirt

why do you not trim the shrubbery on the outside of the field you will gain a few acres and still have the vegetation separating the fields and won't scratch the tractor all to shit

what is with the machinery only as wide as the tractor is there anyone that can put wings on the harrow and the roller, you are wasting a huge amount of fuel put wings on that roller now its 30 feet wide instead of ten done faster used less fuel holy shit what a waste of fuel and time
