It’s the end of the day and going to unwind with Our Favourite Farmer’s of all time best in the world. We love Ireland and farmer Phil and family.GodBless and peace and Good Luck 🤞
Pottinger make some great machinery and the demo man did a great talk too. Shame the ground conditions weren't the best. Looking forward to some crop walks and talks. Thanks to the lad that lent you the combination.
We are going to settle down with our favourite farmers we have had a busy day we just enjoy Farmer Phil and family think they’re wonderful in what they do.So GodBless and peace and Good luck 🤞.
Well you know Phil we planted some with and without plastic a couple years ago. We found the stuff planted without plastic was about 2 weeks behind the stuff with plastic, and ended up having less starch in it. Was the same variety planted the same day. We’d actually like to try some different variety’s without plastic, because planting under plastic is getting kind of old lol
Be very intresting to see the diffrent result on the Mazie that covered to the uncovered as well with the sapced out seeding lay of the maize uncovered.
Of course it does. It always did. It always has been far better than not having a cover crop. I don't understand what type of farming you guys are doing. Why is the fertilizer for?
@@johnsimpson8652 It grows the same or with better yields with zero fertilizer, among many other advantages with other product that costs 10 times less per hectare than fertilizer.
@@johnsimpson8652 A product we developed, took alot of years to develop, but now finally its been working for 2 years now. We have been reaching to corn and other crops this year. Still not in Ireland though. But looking for some farms in there to do some demos and companies.
You’re not wrong with your assessment on the drill Phil, really can’t understand why they arent more popular, on market few years now. Not sure have pottinger a patent on this or what as nobody else trying it either. Hope the uncovered maize goes well for ye
Will it work? Had maize in cork without plastic and equallly good as covered. Mine grew to 12 ft high and yielded well. Only problème was with autumn weather, early storm flattened one crop in 2008.plastic isnt justifiable.
Nice to see Pottinger Paul moonlighting. He's on the best channel know tho. He didn't get the clean overalls out for you he knew its a "working" farm LOL.
Very great video, and very good demo from Pottinger, you and they are a good pair for showing of their products and capabilities :) Hope all the crops grow well this year :)
I have a 750a and traditionally tilled land will need an excellent cover crop over winter grazed to the butt at a minimum for a 750a to successfully drill maize. Compaction issues would still show up as well, really speaking it would need a couple of years regeneration first to give it the best chance
Hi Phil -Liv &family great vids as always dont know if you have heard but diesol engine oil is going to be in short supply or non existent buy as much as you will need for a year or more as well as Gov.juice keep them coming Phil and beateon
I guess a stupid question? Why no sweet corn in Ireland? I know you have to cook it same day. I eaten it grow here, I believe the rest of the plant can be used for feed?
If you piled all them big stones you pick of your tillage land you could crush them all and use for making lane ways instead of dumping all in the hedge..
Very good video Phil

Enjoyed your video. Keep it up 👍🏻
There is quite a bit of maize here in Staffordshire being sown with grass in between ,seems to work very well.

Very interesting
It's gas I'm in the middle of hells kitchen new York on my holidays but I'm watching a video about farming at home
Try a direct drill, John Deere 750a. no ploughing or discing

Phile y dont you put the stones in a trailer instead of the hedge that way you can use them for lanes and that
I guess a stupid question? Why no sweet corn in Ireland? I know you have to cook it same day. I eaten it grow here, I believe the rest of the plant can be used for feed?
There is sweet corn grown but very little of it
Great video. Ye trialing a few different varieties of maze to see what grows best without plastic for next year?
Yes
Great video Phil will you buy one ☝️👍👍👍
Did the ursus not get sold bud
It is sold and gone that video was made nearly a month ago
@@FARMERPHIL3690 oh thank you
Jeez Phil you could sell all your machinery, company's just keep giving you new stuff to use......nobody at Massey must have heard of RUclips!...yet😆
Yes there is more to farming than lambing sheep.
How’s bro 👍
yo must have a degree in computers with all the screens in the tractor
Why not cultivate the ground more one pass on maize is crazy you don’t do one pass for plastic
