    You don't get scared staying out there or etc
    I once drove from VA upto Missoula Montana, went across US12 into Idaho Lolol Summit and Selway wilderness
    Around where u are kinda .. US 12 down there somewhere.
    It was so awesome I was all alone in my GTI
    I never went west of Kentucky. One can only imagine how exciting it was to drive thru here.
    You do good work! Be safe and enjoy yourself.

    Dan....I went over to Grave peak from Elk Summit a few years back. I'm awfully partial to the S-B wilderness area.
    Not sure why YT never auto suggested one of your videos until last week. I certainly follow 5 or 6 other hiking/camping/backpacking channels. Oddly enough, I was discussing fear and anxiety while backpacking in Grizzly country (esp solo) with a good friend of mine who is heading to greater Yellowstone area for a fishing trip this summer. He is overly concerned. Anyway, that night I turned on my laptop and YT was suggesting your video on overcoming anxiety on the trail. Hard to believe some AI isn't listening to my private conversations. Regardless, I checked out your channel and have really enjoyed a number of your postings. I'll be doing the Pintlers in August and then over to S-B for two weeks. Probably crawl down the Magruder in my 4wd Dodge and hang out at Poet Creek for a week with a couple of 1-2 night backpacking trips from that base camp. Then out and around to Kooskia and take 12 to Powell and on up to Elk Summit for similar camping and backpacking.
    I'll comment on other videos as I watch them. Thanks for having me aboard.
    Tom

      Hey Tom, I sure don't understand the ways of the YT algorithm either, but very glad it (eventually) helped you find me! Sounds like some great trip plans; I've always wanted to drive the Magruder Corridor. Something very compelling about the remoteness of it. I've been to Paradise RS in the east and my family used to go camping in Dixie from the west, so someday I'll have to connect the dots! See you out there!!

      @@AmyRoutt Yes, it's similar, but fewer outfitters, or so it seems to me. Glad to hear you know the area. Since I live in NW Montana, most of my hiking is in the Bob (and GNP) and I was wanting to offer hike suggestions there for you, but no need now I know.

    You carry bear spray ..?
    You're very brave .

    • @ShastaBubba
      @ShastaBubba  4 года назад +1

      The only snakes of concern in ID are rattlesnakes and they aren't very active when the temp. is below 70 degrees, so I was pretty safe on this spring hike. I do carry bear spray; although just out of habit since I usually hike in grizzly country -- only black bears in this part of ID and they pretty much just run away. You're right about the trail maintenance folks need more funds!

    Hey Dan, I came across this video of you in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness area. When you hike here do you feel as remote and isolated from civilization as you do in the Bob Marshall ? Does the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness have the same thick and voluminous forests as the Bob?

    • @ShastaBubba
      @ShastaBubba  2 года назад

      Personally, I find the S-B Wilderness to have a more remote feeling because I tend to see fewer people. Also, denser forest due to less big fires than the Bob (don't know whether that's objectively true, just personal experience).
      When is your big trip? Should be any week now, I thought.

      @@ShastaBubba My plans changed for this year due to the heat and smoke in the Bob Marshall area during the first week of August. The people I was going with cancelled and I didn't want to go to the Bob for a long period by myself. Instead I went hiking in Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone for five weeks by myself. I had a great time but those are very different experiences than going into the wilderness. ( Thanks for asking )
