Thanks for this video! I know you did this many years before the remakes of Langrisser 1 and 2 came out on Steam. Some people had said that the graphics are bad in Langrisser 1, but I think this looks great. It gives me a lot of nostalgia for when I played it (badly) on my Saturn a couple of decades ago. It makes me want to play this instead of the remakes because I like the original battle animations more and I didn't see the anime intro being present in the remake videos I watched.
I love your content please don’t leave RUclips as you are the only channel I can turn to in order to even hear some of the voice acting(excluding cutscenes) and the great gameplay. Thanks for listening to my plead and stay retro man!
@@avlynkatabiya2849 Possibly. Well truthfully, if I have a Switch by that time (I don't currently), then it's a very strong possibility. But if I do, it'll most likely be with commentary, so keep that in mind.
@@avlynkatabiya2849 Just saw the announcement trailer - it says the remake is coming to steam too. So I should be able to cover that version instead, if you're still interested.
Yeah... I try to be objective and fair when possible, but the new style just doesn't convey the spirit or presence of Langrisser at all. Even the mobile game's art is better suited, but nothing can touch Urushihara's tremendous work.
The new artwork is ok, it could've been worse, at least Jessica is still hot. I really hate how frail & bony the men look now. The original Ledin & Elwin were prettyboys who were built like linebackers, their shoulders were huge. Nu-Langrisser has wimpy looking dudes who don't look Kingly at all. Satoshi drew manly men & pretty women.
@@BoozeAholic You have a point. I have nothing against effeminate men, but it's a bit extreme how often they're portrayed as fighters and heroes in media these days, in comparison to bulkier/bigger guys. More balance in representation would be nice anyway.
The original game was a wee bit darker in theme and mood, music was better too as well as effects and sprites albeit simpler. Wished they never went with the larger but cutified / deformed character sprites since Langrisser 2. Just my opinion on the presentation.
@@ProDaKah two years late but I think the PC Engine version's soundtrack is most true to the originals chiptunes. The gritty lo-fi tracks never lose their charm however.
Do you guys know what emulators to use on this game for MacBook? I have played Langrisser 2 Genesis for 30+ times for the last 20years till now. Really want to try this game. Thanks!
There are some minor audio/visual differences though. Most of all, there are scenarios and new paths only in the Saturn version (referring to Langrisser 2).
All I've been going by for paths is the chart for Der Langrisser on gamefaqs, here: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/snes/588277-der-langrisser/faqs/48923 Were there even more paths added on top of all of that? O_O How many times do the developers want us to play through this game? ^^;;
lmao ALOT apparently... or maybe they're just perfectionists who were never 100% satisfied with their work. But yes, this version has 2 new branches: the True Light path, which is as close to pacifist as a war game can get, and the Destruction or Conqueror path, which is the Independent path but taken to an even greater extreme. I've heard in the True Light path it's possible to have Leon and Imelda survive, but I'm still playing it currently.
ProDaKah ! Hey in all honesty I would argue that in some areas this is better than Fire Emblem and I’d love playing this game over and over seeing as it has a lot of replay ability
@@avlynkatabiya2849 Yeah, the Langrisser does a lot of things in a unique way and still doesn't get fair recognition for its contributions to the genre. The way troops are deployed and the robust class change system, are especially well-done.

Much appreciated. I had to leave for a while, but I will most likely be returning. Eventually.
ProDaKah ! Do you think that you’ll be doing the remake of Langrisser on the Switch when it comes out in the West?

wow what a beutifull version, didnt know this game exist i mean in sega
Satoshi Urushihara's work is legendary.. The artwork in the remake, is not good. I think I still have this game.

you can use the original artwork in the remake
Comment #1 of PDK appreciation
And I appreciate you! 🥰
i hope 1 day we se an english version of LRDM
Can you compile all these cutscenes into a compilation please?
Sure. Just Langrisser I, or Der Langrisser as well?
@@ProDaKah Both please!
@@lassellie5770 Got it. I should have time tomorrow or tuesday to put that together.
All done. It'll be posted later today.
@@ProDaKah Hey is the Sega Saturn version superior to the langrisser 1 and 2 remake on the switch and PS4?
Was Friendly Fight from the MD game not included here?
Sadly, it wasn't. Most of the music from the original version was replaced.

I agree with you in some areas. I definitely prefer the genesis/mega drive music, despite how few tracks there were.

Buy the Saturn game.
