Avata 2 might not hit perfection, but it's definitely leveled up in the game. The battery life boost is a game-changer - 23 minutes of flight time is pretty impressive for FPV drones
God
Reason 6 if you could see behind his camera stands his wife sitting there with a bat ..😂
lol 😂 I bought one in spite of this video
All good...enjoy! Hey it's a good drone....just not in the cards for me 'right now'.
Gold!
Ahahahaha
😂
I'm on board with some of what you're saying. However, I've got to say, Avatar 2 isn't flawless, but it's definitely leveled up in many ways. The over all image quality is sharper, and that beefy 46GB of internal storage makes flying a breeze.
All good...I'm not anti Avata-2. I'm just saying it's not for me is all. Just not enough improvement for me since I already own the original Avata. Certainly, it's the right purchase for a lot of folks. 👍
Hi @RGMGFitness, thank you for your feedback sharing. We'd like you to know that we appreciate your valuable suggestions. We will forward your concern to our related department. All significant suggestions will be implemented after the evaluation of our relevant team. Thank you for your understanding and support.

@@RGMGFitness You're welcome. If you have any DJI-related concerns, please feel free to let us know. Thank you for your support.
Will the integra goggles and motion 2 be compatible at some point whit the avata 2
@@thedroneguy42 DJI Avata 2 currently does not support these accessories, but our engineering team is actively working to adapt and test various functions. We will release a new firmware update to support these accessories once the image transmission quality and flight performance meet our standards. Please stay tuned.
Dji really making you buy all new gear just to fly this pile of trash
Couldn't agree with you more. I purchased the avata 2 combo package and returned it less than a week after it arrived. The biggest issue to me is DJI forcing me into purchasing the motion controller(which i never wanted) that maxes out at 31.7 mph. I was bored with it on the first day. I agree that this would be a great purchase for someone just starting out, but I will not be forced to pay an additional $200 for the fpv controller 3, just to fly at faster speeds. The incapabilities between goggles, controllers, and aircraft was obviously intentional.. DJI only cares about sales, and forwarding on concerns to DJI developers means absolutely nothing.
I am in the same position as you are. Backward compatibility might have made me order just the drone on its own, but I already have too much gear to have to sell it.
Very useful reasoning. I'll wait!
Sticking with my original Avata as well plus I like the compact size of the original.
Yeah, I was 'hopeful' for a bit more out of the Avata-2...but just not enough improvements for me to justify the upgrade.
I love DJI, but I would never buy one of their drones on a promised future feature. If it isn't on there yet, there are no guarantees.
I hear ya! I’m sitting tight for a while. 👍
It's all about the DJI OcuSync 4.0 Ecosystem
Thanks for sharing this very informative video. I'm also a satisfied owner of the original Avata. Liked and subscribed. ☝
Thanks for the sub! Yeah, for me the Avata (original) is still getting the job done and I have other quads depending on my needs...
Was looking for an honest opinion on if its worth upgrading from Avata 1 to 2. Thanks!
Anytime! 👍
You gained a follower. The first honest person who spoke about the camera quality.
I expected better as well.
If you watch any Avata 2 videos on RUclips, you have to watch it in 4k.
Most persons footage on Instagram looks awful because of the compression to 1080.
I watch Gopro fpv content at 1080 and it still looks clean.
I love DJI but they know how to tease us!
True story
Thanks for the support. Yeah, maybe I’m a bit bias but GoPro footage still is king. And your 100% right on having to watch on RUclips in 4K. I think a lot of people overlook that.
Totally agree you got another subscribe!! I’m heavily invested in dji drones from the inspire 2 , Mavic 3, Avata, Dji Fpv original and mini 3 pro , it’s hard to believe all the current RUclips influencer vids saying this is an absolute must upgrade! I honestly don’t see that many useful updates to warrant buying the package ! Thanks again for your honesty, it’s refreshing!
i second that
NICE COMING SOON👍👍👍
Could you tell us which GoPro mount you are using on the Avata ? I’ve looked but not sure which one to buy
Sure...no problem. I just use a standard curve or flat (mainly curved though) adhesive mount like this one here; rb.gy/4xcsml That in conjunction with my GoPro10 Bones mainly. Sometimes I use a different GoPro camera but mainly the GoPro10 Bones (because it's only 54grams. Nothing fancy and works perfectly. Hope that helps! Oh, and I put the adhesive mount on the Avata Batteries (not the actual Avata itself). This way I'm sure not to block any GPS signal. The GPS unit itself sits toward the front of the Avata nose area so mounting the GoPro on the battery itself is ideal.
Thank you so much
I just one and I don’t plan on putting any of that extra stuff on it.
I have the Avata 1 and I did order the Avata 2 this morning. There also might be updates to make the Camera even more to people's liking. My OG Avata costs with the complete package was over $1,200 dollars.
I wasn't going to just dish out the same amount of money all over again, so I just did the 12 month financing where it's only $100 a month. I know some people at the beginning are hesitant, but as time goes along many of them upgrade at some point anyways.
If your happy with the OG Avata and not interested in all the changes from the OG to the 2 or its about affordability, stick with the original. Still had to buy the freaking Controller 3 separately and a couple extra blades.
DJI from what I hear is supposed to in a month like they did when the OG Avata came out to replace the DJI FPV drone plans to make the Goggles 2 and the earlier Goggles compatible with the new Avata 2.
I totally get the hold back and it doesn't hurt to be a little patient and see what DJI does down the road and gives you sometime to workout what the best upgrade is going to be for you.
Yes, I may change my mind down the road (ie. after some firmware updates). Just not on the table for me 'right now'. Enjoy the Avata 2!
I respect ur opinion. But for someone who’s not into building or adding on. This new version is a great pick up
All good! Yes, a great little cinewhoop for many folks.
I think you'll get one. you have a youtube channel so that's enough.
For, it looks really fun BUT I live in a city and most footage I've seen is the woods and seaside cliffs. So then where do I fly it.
Valid points.
Is it still over 250 grams ? Thanks.
Yes
Yep.
The AVATA 2 comes in at 377grams according to the DJI SPEC page. That’s the Take-off weight.
@@RGMGFitness Thank you Sir.
Im sure if you didn’t have an avata you would’ve definitely got the new one … I’m new to “fpv” flying so I’m stoked for getting the avata 2 later this year once every bug and issue is resolved … avata 2 doesn’t come with controller to fly in manual mode which sucks but to new buyers it’s easier to fly with the motion controller
I never bought the first one so it’s easy for me.
Yeah…a no brainer if you didn’t buy the original. Enjoy! 👍👍
Sure, Avata 2 isn't flawless, but can we take a moment to appreciate the new easy acro mode? It's like a breath of fresh air for the flight sim experience - adds a whole new layer of fun
I know people like 24 FPS, but it makes me sad. I love the 60 FPS so much I would never want lower than that. I know it’s supposed to be more cinematic. But I love 60 too much.
Yes, I’ll be honest. I shoot 60fps most times too. Just in case I need to slow footage down at times. 24fps would help out some folks depending on their project. Just seems odd they don’t include. 👍
@@RGMGFitness Yes I hadn't even heard of the problem where you try to squeeze a 60FPS into 24 frames, then you get choppy frame drops. That is an interesting problem. So I get people wanting the 24 FPS...
As I get older I find low framerates to really irritate me lol. I even find myself getting motion sickness with low framerates. Whenever I see a drone video at 24 FPS, I know it is supposed to look more cinematic... but it instead makes me sad :)
@@carlthewinner without going down a rabbit hole, if you use Adobe Premiere Pro you can do something called “interpret footage” which helps with mix frame rates on a timeline. Yeah, just something to be aware of. 👍
@@RGMGFitness Oh very good to know. Thanks!
I don't do a ton of post processing on my videos. I know that I could get better results by doing things like recording in D-Log, using Gyroflow instead of the built in stabilization etc... But I found that I don't enjoy the video processing and editing process at all. In fact I actively despise it. So just flying and having really nice video come out of the drone is a big win for me. Then I just mainly need to put my videos in a timeline and trim them to the most interesting parts.
How about for someone who has never gotten into drones? I've been watching and waiting, and I think now is the time and this is the drone. Am I wrong?
Yes..this is a good drone to own. Even for someone who's never owned a drone before. It will take you from a beginner level to a more advanced level so you won't outgrow this drone just because you want to do more advanced shots. Enjoy!
No. It’s totally up to you
Another reason, in case of accident, frame and propeller guard is not user replaceable. You have to send it in to DJI.
Good point....
I was surprised there isn’t a replacement prop guard on the store. I hoped it was replaceable and just coming later.
I totaled my Avata 1 3 times. And never once even chipped or cracked the prop guard. So the spare I bought is still sitting in a drawer at the house. lol. So maybe this won’t matter.
It's just perfect for someone like me who is not into the ecosystem yet. But I'm definitely waiting a few months for the hype to die down, and honest reviews to come forth. Everything up right now is cookie cutter Happy reviews from people who got the drone for free. Expert FPV pilots are devoting half the runtime of their videos to a joystick They will never use once the camera stops rolling. Rather than performing strict testing with the DJI FPV3.
I'm very confident they will open backwards compatibility, you can't even buy the standalone drone on the website yet. They are just trying to push their launch packages, I'd be shocked if they don't drop an update for backwards compatibility.
IF I HAVE MNONEY I'LL BUY IT LOVE DJI DRONES!
Hey...if it's in your budget go for it. All good!
@@RGMGFitness BUT I DONT HAVE ANY MONEY YET LOL
If you already own the original avata and don’t use it for professional use then you are really just wasting money (and it’s a LOT of money). I was about to hit the button but couldn’t justify it except for some endorphin release and for some funsies
Your reasons are sound (for you). We all have different needs. For me, I’m retired and Recreational licensed. So not interested in making money with it. Also not interested in photography. The camera just shows me where I’m going. I use my (four) drones (Avata 2 on the way) to explore my 800 acres in the country.
I hear ya! All good....everyone has their own needs.
800. Acres That’s sounds awesome
Good part about all that land is it’s owned by the USDA, but I’ve been their neighbor for 19 years and we’re good friends. When I bought my first drone, I asked permission to fly it on their land. The said yes and now I’m on my fourth one.
The only difference between us is you voiced your personal opinion with a RUclips video and I didn’t.
Bro said he has one. LOOK AT THE TITLE! It says "5 Reasons I'm NOT Buying the DJI Avata 2! YOU HAVE ONE
Not sure where you heard that (not in this video). I don't own an Avata 2.
At least for me , my opinion , just me 😂
It needs a one inch sensor and be able to shoot 4K at 240fps
Yeah, a 1" sensor sounds pretty nice....
Pass here too. There is NOTHING here that excites me in terms of evolutionary upgrades at the current price point.
DJI missed the mark on this one, imho 👍👍
Right there with ya! Maybe the next round...😎😎
Yeah, nah, I’m pretty excited about it, especially the reduced noice and tone. But will still keep my Avata 1 too.
The avata 1 wasn’t cheap neither
true..
lol...goggles 2 cant work with avata 2 and goggles 3 dont work with 03 airunit....for me , it makes no sence...total waste
You know you can sell your Avata 1 for a decent price which allows you to upgrade for only a few hundred bucks, right? And then you don't need to suffer the pain of putting a GoPro on top of an Avata...
Sure...that's an option but I've already got my workflow and settings all dialed in. Plus, I hard-wired my original Avata (tore it apart and soldered some wires to the battery leads) so for me it's not like someone would be buying a 'stock' Avata (original). Mine is unique in that regard. I can plus my GoPro10 Bones directly into the wires I've soldered.
I agree, I can’t afford to hold onto old tech as a professional, unfortunately this is the wheel DJI keeps us turning 😢
Title should I have why you’re not UPGRADING to the 2.
Yeah...I had a bunch of different titles at one point. Trying to keep it simple and not click-battie...
lol
I'm returning my Avata 2. Without DJI care refresh, a crash will cost you a lot. Also you definitely need to spend $200 for the controller 3. The motion controller is lacking. And the goggles 3 hurt my head. Overall I realize this is an expensive hobby that I shouldn't get into lol
Yeah, not for everyone and can be expensive. Wish DJI would bring back the original 'DJI FPV Goggles' form factor. Those just fit so nicely. These smaller form factors just never fit quite right.
Lol you want this drone soo bad
Not yet…😳
Who cares.
