      People like to talk hypotheticals. You don't know when Ichiro would have been called up to the Big Leagues. Maybe 21, 22, 23? Who knows? Or how many hits he would have per season? It's a hypothetical scenero.
      What we do know is that Ichiro started playing MLB at the age of 27 and retired at 45. In that time period he had 3089 hits.
      If you look at Pete Rose's stats from the exact same time period of age 27 to 45, he had 3357 hits!
      Pete Rose still out hit Ichiro when you compare their actual head to head career statistics!

    • @BST-lm4po
      @BST-lm4po 3 года назад +2

      Some may say that Ichiro's last two years shouldn't count because he barely played. So let's take Ichiro's stats from the age of 27 to 43, and compare them to Rose's stats from the age of 27 to 43.
      Ichiro had 3080 hits.
      Rose had. 3198 hits.
      Even if you disregard the last two years of their careers (which really doesn't make sense when you're looking at career stat leaders) Rose still out hit Ichiro.

    Ichiro had over 200 hits.... 10 years in a row, Rose did it over 24 years. Japan plays fewer games per year and also Ichiro spent 2 years in Japan's minors (because the coach didn't like his swing, he was perfectly capable of starting in Japan's big league), which are not counted too. Peter Rose stole just around 200 bases while Ichiro has stolen over 700 combined, with over 500 in the MLB alone. Overall, Ichiro stats are much better than those of Rose.

Nobody else's AAA stats get included. Plenty of American players did a stint in Japan,.. and those stats never get included. So why is it discussed with Ichiro. Its BS.

    Ichiro has more hits up the middle and to opposite field than any other player ever. One of 7 players to amount 500 steals and 3000 hits. His 10 200 hit seasons were consecutive. Only rose has 2000 hits in a 10 year span. Ichiro hit 2000 hits half through his 9th season. He could have sat down at that point and waited a year and still had the most hits in a 10 year span and the fastest to 2000 hits ever. He also has the single season hit record. And 5 of the top 18 hitting seasons ever. Ichiro may not be the hit king but he had the best hit apex

    Gambling is another great example of adults acting like children. Since forever, pro fighters have bet on themselves. Just a few weeks back a fighter proudly announced a $30k bet on himself (he won). So does that mean he threw his previous title fight because he didn't bet and lost or did he simply know he was facing a tougher match?
    So there's a debate on just how long Pete was betting before he was caught. Some say just after he became manager some say much longer. Either way, he got away with it and really only got caught because he was incredibly sloppy. Anybody with a drop of common sense HAS to know others have bet on themselves, through intermediaries, and never got caught. If guys take PED, steal signs systematically, doctor a ball, cork a bat, why is gambling the one rule they take as gospel? Guys talk about betting on other sports for crying out loud and we're so naive we think they don't bet on the sport they know best? C'mon man....

      Pete would have more hits if they counted his minor league hits. Ichiro only has what he has because they count Japan, but MLB doesn't. Rose also holds quite a few other records as well. That's not his only record. He holds the record for the most 5 hit games, most 4 hit games, most 3 hit games, longest National League hitting streak and a few others. He's relevant. He'll always be relevant. It would have been nice to see what Ichiro would've done with a full career here, though.

Yes he did something wrong but him doing one wrong thing should not destroy his legacy in my opinion. Everyone has their own thoughts and opinions but that's just me and mine. It's the same reason nobody for the mid 90s is allowed to be in the hall of fame because they don't know who did and didn't use PEDs. It's the same reason TO can't get in to the NFL hall fame.
