    Audi spent more than half a decade redesigning its Q7, even taking a year off to get everything right. The new version debuts the Volkswagen Group’s new MLB Eco platform, which will used in the new A4, A5 and A8, Volkswagen Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, and Bentley Bentayga, and it weighs 700 pounds less than the 2015 version. That weight savings affects not only speed, but also handling, braking, fuel efficiency, and general wear & tear. And despite its 5,000 pounds, the 2017 Q7 still manages to stop from 60 mph in just 112 feet. That’s shockingly good-that’s sports-car territory.
    But technology is where the Q7 really tries to shine, and for 2017 it features FlexRay, high-speed optical fiber for all the electronic systems, allowing for higher data bitrates and reaction times, making full use of four Nvidia Tegra processors’ potential. Audi also added a lot of safety tech with this new generation, and as a result the Q7 comes about as close to self-driving as is currently legally possible. Read more on CarGurus: cargur.us/g0Ljp

    Fantastic take on this review! I do not care for SUVs but you kept my attention throughout. the stopping distance is really impressive for such a heavy car. I wish more manufacturers focused on this for all cars

      Agreed. Even economy cars will tout a 0-60 stat, but you have to dig to even find the braking distances, let alone a company that really concentrates on it outside of sports cars.

    Great review and an amazing car! I just got my wife this exact color combination this past weekend, minus the extended leather package and B&O sound system. It's a sharp looking car :)

      Keith Florian is it better than x5? im sure u considered it too. im deciding between the two . thanks!

      @keithflorian5534 7 лет назад +2

      Hi, sorry for the late response! 2 of my bothers had the X5 and both had electrical problems (one had a serious suspension issue). I also needed the 3rd row, so the Merc GLS was on my radar, but the cost benefit wasn't even close.

      @@Itsellasky it’s been good. No major issues, but the tech is already getting old. It’s frustrating not having a touch screen for Apple CarPlay.

    Great review. I love the all black kit on this version of the Q7, it really complements the darkened 21" rims. Too bad it's no offered here in Canada. But I did get it in white with the light 21" rims, still looks pretty amazing.

    Great Review...I agree that the interior styling is quite nice indeed. However, I actually like the previous gen exterior because it looked so much bigger...Not a deal breaker but just saying.

    I love the Q7, but Audi really needs to make the driver assist functions standard so that it's more readily available on the dealer lots. Not sure many people would want this car without that tech.

    The V6 is not a new engine and the I-4 is not faster than the "outgoing V6" that is actually the same very good supercharged V6. Looking for a good review on this car, want to know about the air suspension versus without the air suspension. Very disappointed dude. You should do your research. Oh and about 0.01% of people considering this vehicle give a damn about a low range transfer case

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 6 лет назад +1

      The 2017's 2.0 hits 60 mph .5 secs faster than the 2015's V6. Forgive the bit of poetic license of calling both engines "new" when one was only significantly improved.
      As for the air suspension - you and me both. Would have been thrilled if Audi had provided both for comparison, but was only lucky enough to enjoy the single trim for the week.
      And you're absolutely right - this isn't the demographic for a low-range transfer case, but still a point I think that deserves addressing.

      i like how people like to troll/are too stupid to realize that options, are optional, and they also pretend that self driving, 4 wheel steering, high quality 3d sound system etc, etc should be like buying a pack of snikers

    No one cares about weight loss. Oil prices are in the tank. I couldn't care less about 'fuel savings'.
    Comparatively it is a great car. Objectively I can find 50 things wrong/bad about it.

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад +2

      Hell, *I* care about weight loss! A lighter car accelerates, brakes, handles and generally drives better. They should be praised for dropping this much weight!

    • @graphguy
      @graphguy 7 лет назад

      It is not a race car, ....braking, accelerating, 'driving better'? give me a break... it is marginal at best by shedding 700 lbs. There is so much plastic on this car it is pathetic to pay 70K for it.

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад +2

      You don't need a race car to feel the benefits of weight loss, especially when it's nearly 15% of the total weight - like with the Q7. But of course, you're welcome to your opinion.

    • @graphguy
      @graphguy 7 лет назад

      As are you :) and for all who like plastic parts on a 79K car. Me ? I'll take 16 mpg and be safe. If I want to feel like I am driving indy, I'll drive my Porsche.
