- After a lot of higher elo games we go back to the roots today. The plays where we all started. The Metal Leagues! Although a lot of low-elo players seem to be quite aware of their actual skill level, there are also a lot of 'em pretending to be the next Serral or Clem and pretending like their percect big brain play is only stopped by inbalanced units. 57 is obviously the ideal number of workers, which is why he couldn't move out. Just managed to get to 57 workers (15:15) for like 2 seconds before the zerg hits that sharp muta timing at 11 minutes. After that it's just an uphill battle trying to macro up while the zerg all-ins off of 14 bases.
Amazing how Hamster kept the timer up just so that it's in sync with Harstem counting down. 7 minutes for that payoff

Went in just expecting it to be a Silver player not realizing he's a Silver player, but this is so far beyond that it's incredible. My man literally plays a game where he's down nine bases, doesn't build workers, never has anything but a tiny army, barely attacks or harasses, and still manages to hold out against an opponent building ling-baneling for forty minutes. The entire game is just a series of montages of infinite numbers of banelings getting blown up by tiny numbers of widow mines and thors and hellbats. And it's THIS game that he uses as proof that BANELINGS are imba. The awareness exemplified by that choice is what makes this so beautiful.
It would make way more sense if the replay was sent in by FuzzyWuzzy as proof that widow mines (or Mules, or Thors, or Terran) were imba.

This was actually a really lore accurate and interesting game. Zerg has a near unlimited amount of small units while Terran holds it's ground with efficiency and large machines.
Yes! I love this comment people are always saying one race or the other is imba but I honestly think each play perfectly as designed. Each race feels good to play as and almost equally as frustrating to play vs.
Zerg is doing the campaign mission from Broodwar, where you need to collect 20 K minerals and optionally infest terrain command centers. Imagine him unlocking roach hydra and A move.
Man, that absolute meatgrinder at the entrance of the natural while ignoring the 4th base and relentlessly attacking while on 13 bases....you love to see it. BLOOD FOR THE BLOODGOD BABY!

The term constant in 99% of daily usage implies the existence of something. No one uses the word constant in reference to something never happening. If the word "consistent" had been used you'd have a point, but as it stands that's a real stretch of the word constant.

The man might not have much of a sc2 future, but he is probably got a solid financial one, good priorities right there not just saving up for a bad baneling day but investing larger and larger amounts.
Honestly at one point I thought he might end the game with 200 drones.
To be honest I've played like 10 games of ranked SC2 in my life losing most of them in few minutes and I'm silver too. Worse players are the ones who either troll and don't really try to win, just mess around and have fun or players who played
Silver? Nah when I was in silver I have never met an opponent this bad. This is bronze league shit
the ladder system is still bugged, you can still be in bronze 1 until ~3200 MMR (low diamond). so bronze doesn't mean anything, but to get to silver you have to be special.

57 is the maximum number of of kills by a single widow mine before they have to do the oil replacement on it. Like the driven kilometers with a cars before routine-maintenance.

The zerg mines out the map while the Terran puts mines into the map. Completely different approach to the environment; completely balanced with no exploits whatsoever.
He's completing the challenge an old protoss plaintiff failed to do in a previous IODIS, lose 4x resources and still win the game.

57 clearly refers to his aspirational APM. Aim for the moon, StudMuffi!
I was guessing MMR. I noticed that his opponent, at one point, had 700+ APM, while TheStudMuffi had 33. Sadlt, my APM is often also 33 when playing Terran, yet still have a higher MMR with offracing Terran than with Zerg.
@@Galahad54 seems about right for zerg. you can get pretty high apm just form selecting larva and spamming zerglings.
Back when I played, this Terran would have been my dream opponent as Z. No need to go harass as he'll just bring his economic damage to me and I can just basically play a relaxing singleplayer base building game and then just overrun him with numbers.
with players like that you can legitimately win on 3 base vs 12 bases or whatever, just hold on and make a maxxed out mech army and a move. Zerg will lose every bane on a thor and lings to hellbats, they'll use all their bank on 120 lings and some banes which will suffer the same fate of being meatgrinded and then have no larva and win lol. He seriously could win by just turtling a little bit better

@@Denamic Not really, I sometimes play offrace as zerg when I'm diamond and you can easily run out of larva when you're remaxing on lings 2 or 3 times. If I'm running out as diamond zerg with master 1 mechanics don't tell me that silver/bronze zerg won't run out out of larva when making most larva intensive units. Sometimes even pros have problems with it

New Gettysburg l(Starcraft 1) looked a lot like that. I kept failing that mission by try harding to outright win, ignoring the stated win/loss conditions.
I would have quite liked Hamster to put in an 'optional objective' like in campaign mode, that says 'kill 20 banelings with 1 widow mine shot' and it ticks of as complete at about 27:00
Or maybe one that is 'get a widow mine to achieve over 100 kills'.
I think there is a chance that TheStudMuffi believes it was Zero Hour mission from WoL on brutal difficulty.

This replay looks like Artosis in BW trying to win with 2-base while the zerg takes the rest of the map.
The weird thing is that in broodwar you actually can just sit on 2-3 base vs 6 base, be down 60 supply, and win the game 5 minutes later.
Of course that's TvP, not TvZ... Truly a "say gg" and "get out" moment
Love to see the increase in edits and therefore kinda the content quality in general, well done captain. Fire episode, shame it was over for like 2/3s of the time but the roasting was nice. Also the audacity to complain/the complete lack of understanding how over the game was...a typical terran move, typical silver move, love to see it, great deal of laughing for me.

The reason for the bunker was propably that he wanted to continue his aggro, so he would not want to lift barracks but only train more units, and he would be able to defend against some lings without microing

20 minutes into the episode I was sure that we're getting 2 complaint forms in one video, because there was no way it will actually take 20 more minutes.

This reminded me of my own silver days before I decided that I was going to learn a few things about getting better. So many Terrans play like this guy and I had no idea how to break them so I would just take the map. It takes a long time to win that way.
yep :D there were no mines back then, but i assume my old 3/3 broodlords strat would still work: just add more broodlords faster than his vikings can possibly kill them.
My theory for the 57: He had to make 57 email addresses because with his first 56 accounts he couldn't break out of bronze league.
Or he lost 56 passwords ^^
Or, he never learned how to change passwords (some sites you have to type in the password exactly the same twice, and I'm guessing he improvised, just like his 'build order'), so every time he changed his password, the only way he could do that was create a new account. I've done tech support for customers like that.

For some reason I was laughing so hard when the zerg moved his lings and queen to take out that bunker and the terran cancelled it at the last second XDD
Harstem's fears of being made fun of for miscounting were well founded.
Hamster's additions were amazing. I also loved how at the end the Zerg has more money than they can spend and nearly every base on the map but spends their money on almost nothing but zerglings, one of the most larva inefficient units possible. They could have literally spammed ultras and brood lords and just walked in and won, but instead they stuck with zerglings against mines and firebats. Truly, one of the most *silver* games I've seen in a long time!
Studmuffi out here reenacting a fanatical WWII holdout, but FuzzyWazzi was more into WWI tactics.
Nothing prepares you for this. I cheered, I shouted, I fist pumped the air, I cried, I stood and cheered. It's absolutely everything you hoped it was going to be!

One of my favorite parts of low level IODIS is how long Harstem can tell a story or make a lengthy analogy while literally nothing in the game happens, seems like a low key passive aggressive roast.
It is probably his 57th account. But what an insane game though. I think FuzzyWuzzy was aiming for a resources lost record without having his opponent suspect this.

I'm always surprised and impressed by how league-specific Harstem is with advice/coaching. He's not going to criticize a silver player dropping 10 seconds too late or forgetting an upgrade.

57 is the max apm allowed in the game, combining both players apm. Terran I though was gonna go for a push instead decided to drop 2 units per medevac instead of 4 no idea why (maybe likes the number), then decided to keep all his army home( for safety purposes ofc) and only send a drop of units that won’t fight air vs mutas, then the Zerg decided not to make any more mutas cause Terran asked politely and I ended up thinking at minute 18:00 how in god’s name will this game last till the 40 minutes of the video…surprise!!! Enjoy
wave 17 , not bad, he should try to activate "the all units avariable option" thats more interesting for this arcade, you get that option by typing "its not a good day to troll" in chat at the start of the game.

I haven't watched IODIS in a few months, and I can tell you've really stepped it up a notch.
This was by far my favorite episode of IDOIS I've ever seen, and it was mostly because of the better, more enjoyable editing.

If you're not even Platinum, which only requires you to stick somewhat close to a build order and have semi-decent macro, then you're going to get obliterated in IODIS :D. But it's great content, so by all means, keep sending them in
Tbh if you're any league you can be obliterated, with higher league comes higher expectation. He didn't have crazy expectations for those players, wasn't like he was saying that their timing was 10s off lol. But you could even make Master 1 players look pathetic, when I look at my games and compare it to other people Master 1 feels more like bronze in terms of skill difference

I've only been to France once, and tried to visit a museum. The museum was closed already 2.30 pm because it was too late, but there was a guy working in the museum door telling it's closed and we cannot enter. So my theory is that there are people actually working in France - but their work is just to tell people that places are closed and make sure no actual work accidentially gets done.

we used to play a game called bullet with a hacky sack ,, one person "serves" or starts then you have to kick it 2x before sending it to someone else as a strike, failure to catch and resend the hackysack ment you were out .. that brought back some memories

I had one like this the other way around: Friendly 1v1, me (awful noob) on Zerg, turtled in my main, my friend on Terran with full map control. He just kept walking Thors into five lurkers on my ramp.

This was just 2 AIs fighting. One was send wave after wave of ling/bane. The other was the defense ai, rebuild and hold off the players attacks.
The editing is on lvl with the commentary, and the commentary is top notch.

I have not played much SC2. I have played the first two campaigns, and I was in bronze league back in Wings of Liberty. And even I can tell that if FuzzyWazzy had used his huge bank to max out on roaches rather than maxing out on ling/bane for the fourteenth time, he would've steamrolled into the base and killed everything that didn't fly. It is likely not the best way to go, but it's something that even I can figure out. However, it seems they became afraid of transitioning at all after losing a couple mutas to mines. "No, I reached this army comp at 7 minutes, better stick to it for another 20."
Also, you spent so much energy (heh) lamenting the lack of orbital, and then you didn't see the armada of supply depot hats raining down from the sky.
