3 points for a win instead of 2 makes gameplay more exciting. Riskier games, less incentive to draw and rapid means they're not going for computer approved perfect play.
Shakh is not just an ordinary chess master, he has always tried to play well and beautifully. He always tried something different and always played the offensive game, even in matches where he could easily draw. We love and are proud of Shakh. 🇦🇿
That game was nuts. There was a point there where he was down a rook and a piece, yet the position was completely winning for him, which was just incredible.
@@dudenotsoperfect9366 and that is exactly the beauty of chess. It is something simple, that you can find anywhere like any other boardgame, but that can also create masterpiece like that.
Shak don’t get enough credit. I like that he plays to win. I think he has one of the lowest draw ratios in top tier chess behind Magnus, Nepo and Caruana if I’m not mistaken. His games are really fun to watch. And he’s a really nice chap. Can’t believe he sacrificed over 50% piece value and won! Absolutely incredible. Congrats on this game Shak. Absolute beast. 👊🏻
I don't have the numbers but I would expect Dubov's draw ratio to be pretty low as well. I haven't seen a single Dubov game in which he didn't either win spectacularly or lose spectacularly
Shak used to be a member of the 2800 club and the player Magnus feared the most in classical alongside Fabi (back in 2016-2019), maybe he can reach his prime again, he is still excellent
I don't think I've ever seen a game where someone sacrificed one of each pieces (a pawn, a knight, a bishop, a rook and a queen) and went on to win spectacularly. What a game!
Grigori Serper vs Ioannis Nikolaidis, "the immortal sacrifice game". Both rooks, both bishops, both knights, the queen, all sacrificed for the summary price of a knight and rook and a lot of tempi. The rest was tactical follow ups and lots of passed pawns.
Mamedyarov has been on another planet lately. His play has been so artistic yet brutal, and the ways he conjurs his attacks are just magnificent and genius. For anyone else it's reckless, but he is like a rock hammer, violently breaking through even the seemingly strongest defenses. Absolute art. How can you not be romantic about chess?
@@shashankgsharma Another very useful phrase is from "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde. For example, if you want to annoy a well-known politician: "To lose one popular vote is unfortunate; to lose two begins to look like carelessness."
Surely no game is more deserving of the Mr Barnes logo? A great injustice. I hope Agadmator does the gentlemanly thing and acknowledge the oversight in the next video..
Shak is not an easy opponent. He’s literally beat everyone at least once. These skills have not done dull with age they’ve just become more refined. Thanks for the video.😊
This almost brought a tear to my eye. This is why chess is beautiful. Mamedyarov showed total mastery of the game and was willing to give it all to win the game, because he had the confidence, because he knew he could win, despite appearing to lose everything. There are lessons for our personal life too within chess.
Shakh has always been doing what he preaches. I remember in one of his streams he said that g4 is a nice gambit that many players overlook. He played it against Hikaru in a rapid game and Anish here. He is sort of a wizard too like Ding but probably less pragmatic because he plays less safely.
If Shakh was a little more consistent, I think he would be a much stronger opponent. But if he changes his style, then we wouldn't be getting interesting games with crazy positions.
Will agadmator never cover the 12-move #9LX puzzle in Anish Giri Vs Eric Hansen from the Offerspill finals? That whole match was pretty good actually. #suggestion

Shak sacrificed rook bishop knight and queen all in a single game.

So basically everything but his king
That Knight sacrifice is absolutely hilarious to me, what a game
the sac purpose is only to distract the queen and that paid off

Giri didn’t want to spoil a masterpiece. Even if he was on the losing end of it. Sometimes all you can do is tip your hat.
