I really appreciate these lessons. I’ve learned to let go of my high expectations and just have fun. Keeping it simple definitely goes a long way.

  • @Hallouminatiee

I love this kind of video where you are explaining some technical aspects but also some colour mixing. A more in depth look at achieving some colour textures on grass and the sky would be awesome. Thank you for sharing.

  • @puppydood

A 40 minute video. What a weekend treat. Thanks Toby for this fascinating look at texture and how to suggest these in our sketches. It’s like a complete reference guide. 😊

  • @soniabrown3067

Toby, thank you for all these amazing videos that you put out for free. This is one of my favourites - a " deep dive" as you say. :)

  • @elizabethbarnes3969

Another informative lesson….thank you so much. I’m playing it over and drawing my own depth guide reference for roofs, walls etc. Such fun.

  • @queenbuzybee4074

Absolutely brilliant Toby - thank you. I‘m just starting out with urban sketching, practicing techniques and small sections of a whole. I‘m trying to gather my own „reference library“ and this has been very useful. I really love your way of simplifying what you see, which I‘m also practicing.

    Ur technique is improving.

Thanks for this Toby, I've nearly finished your free course, it has been most enjoyable. And information I learnt from this video, that may be useful to others, is that an Epson XP 530 can handle 300gsm watercolour paper.

  • @carolinew302

That's great! Thank you so much. Textures are the hardest for me. Along with shade.

  • @user-zh8oc3uc6k

Wow! I learned so much. Now, I'm very excited to try some scenes. Thanks!

  • @lizohagan8233

Thanks so much Toby, this is just what I needed! Thanks too for the download. 😊

Fun to watch while learning 😊

Only yesterday I was in a dilemma on how to do some textures and make them look authentic. You're a mind reader! Thanks so much Toby!

  • @marytesta3003

Tony, this is a fabulous video. I learned so.much. I'm going to make a go of this study.

Toby, I always love your videos, but this one was by far and away my favorite so far! Thank you so much for everything you've taught me!
