Got my Beeman P17 today (3-27-21) from eBay and I'm so glad I found this video. Yes it is very dirty from the factory, I plan to put a few pellets through it to make sure it functions properly and after watching this video I'll do a partial tear down and clean it up. I also have a Weihrauch Hw40 on its way from eBay and it'll need a cleaning too. I'm hoping the tear down is similar to the P17.
Yep, P3 or HW40 you should be covered. If new, I doubt the German guns would need a cleaning. But used, likely a great idea. The Chinese guns need cleaning on pump head and air tube. Watch for sharp point in back on air intake.. If there, use fine sand paper to remove. Mine didn't have one, smooth.
Philip, thanks! Hope all is well in the UK! You look like a strong man, so you should be fine charging it - closing it is the one Achilles heel of this design, for the less physical shooters. Here are the P-17 attributes: ▶️ Recoiless and accurate ▶️ Silky smooth trigger pull. ▶️Low maintenance ▶️Easy Repair.
Stephen, thanks. But I give credit also to my local gun shop and the great education of Pyramyd Air Airgun Academy. One of my favorite guest writers there is 45bravo, a gunsmith. I link in the written section (toggle arrow). His articles are top notch.
Doesn't seem that complicated. You make breakdowns and installations look easy with great detail. I'll try to remember this vid for future references. Guess I need to break mine down and clean it. Where can you buy the Storehouse brand at? Thanks.
Harbor Freight. 400 piece metric for $8. 200 piece SAE for $6. You will need both. I'll see what rings are on valve later. Going for individual rings could be goose chase.
Ok so... No one else seems to have that problem with the P17 on the internet, but I'm new to this and I don't want to screw this up. I've just received my P17 and firing the first 75 pointed pellets, we had the breach o-ring becoming unhinged a few times. (Each 20 then 10 shots). At first these misfires and replacing the ring weren't too annoying, but past the 76th shot; having to check for the fall of the breach o-ring after EACH SHOT, and having to replace the bastard during each reloading cycle... is frustrating. (As long as we shoot indoor we can find it back, but outdoor would be a lot less fun.) It does shoot okay for everything else though. Maybe the o-rings were past their correct shelf life in there? The lubricant seems otherwise okay. What should I do? Change that o-ring? Lube it? Glue it? Grease it? Some have mentioned that I might somehow have to move back the cannon a little and squeeze it tighter. I'm not sure this wouldn't make more problems as it then might create more friction against the o-ring while pumping. Does really no one else have had their breach o-ring just falling on the line of duty? I also hesitate to Teflon tape the o-ring as this might be a bore to clean later...

@@daisy880fanaticfixit9 Thanks, I originally landed on your O-Ring video. (Now added the like for good measure.) For now at least, different sources seems all to point to the same first step, trying to change that O-Ring; and thus that is what I'll try. Yeah, let me know how it goes. On lube and rings: Please know that the lube is for air seal and WEAR PROTECTION. Folks don't always remember that prolonging the life of the seal is an important goal. You don't have to soak the ring in Super Lube. Just plug it in and lube the FRONT for air seal and WEAR PROTECTION. Other than faulty breech metal, this should work. Wish you success!
@@daisy880fanaticfixit9 Ok... Well it's been a while, but let's just say I had a lot of stuff to deal with in the meantime. So... I finally received my o-rings and super lube, and found the time to test them, today. I used my fingers to lube the new o-ring and plug it in. For some reason, it seemed as if it was a bit smaller or more fit than the original. First three shots were misfires. As in not only did the o-ring unplug itself from the breech seal, but the pellet didn't even move in the canon. I didn't despaired however, and I did wipe or spread a bit of the lube replacing the ring between each shots. It looked like the lube now made the o-ring glue to the canon when opening the P-17. Fourth shot finally got the pellet going. I immediately noticed that the shot was more accurate, closer to when I first shot the beeman, than when the other problem had arisen. I thought I might have misaligned it since then, but it might have only been a loss of power due to a bad seal? Since fourth shot also had the o-ring dislodged when opening back the pistol, I decided to add a bit of lube, but this time only on the surface of the breach o-ring. Further shots continued to be more accurate than with precedent o-ring, and the o-ring did continue to pop out... BUT NOT ENTIRELY! So I guess that is a step in the right direction.
