  • A short overview of the Trendnet Shielded Patch Panel for use with shielded cables such as CAT 7 and CAT 6A or any STP or S/FTP network cable. It is also backward compatible with CAT 6 and 5E unshielded cables. If you are planning to install a patch panel this is one to consider as it provides some future-proofing.

    Thanks for the video. Do you have the link for the video that you mentioned about stripping back the cable?

    Thanks a lot for the presentation sir.
    I went for the Panel at Amazon. There, there was no mention that the item is good for Cat7. Only Cat6! Not even Cat6A.
    Please confirm that it is truly good for Cat7.

      Not sure which panel you saw but if you use the links in video description it will take you to the 6A version. The panel in this review is absolutely made for 6A and works with Cat 7 as well. Thanks for the question.

      Yeah, Mike.
      I used the link.
      Here's what turned up at Amazon :
      TC-P24C6AS 1000BASE-T / 10GBASE-T .
      Is it the right one?

    • @MikeFaucher
      @MikeFaucher  3 года назад +1

      @@NedumEze Yes, that is the one. The P24C6AS is their 24 port, 6A Shielded panel. Thanks.

    Do you ground the shielding cable only on the patch panel, or also on the otherside using a wall socket?

    • @MikeFaucher
      @MikeFaucher  Год назад

      You only need one side. It is easier to ground the patch panel. Great question.

    Hi Mike, I am running Cat 6a and I'm thinking of installing this patch panel inside a plastic Legrand OnQ Structured Media Enclosure. Therefore, with the enclosure being plastic, is it ok to connect the ground wire of the patch panel to the power outlet ground wire in the enclosure? Thanks in advance!

    • @MikeFaucher
      @MikeFaucher  2 года назад

      Sure, if you tie in all your equipment and panel to the same ground you are good and do not need to ground the enclosure. Typically even with a metal enclosure you end up connecting to electrical ground. Good luck and thanks for the question.

    • @garyhartley6005
      @garyhartley6005 2 года назад

      @@MikeFaucher Many thanks for the prompt response!!! With the Legrand enclosure being plastic, the only thing in there is the outlet for power which the router and switch will be plugged into. That's why I thought it best to run a ground wire from the back of the outlet to connect directly to the patch panel ground wire. You answered my question and I really enjoy watching your videos! Again, thank you very much!

    patch panel is great when you are pulling multiple ethernet wires through the walls to another room. this solves the problem of having too many with with not enuff port outlets. hence the patch panel to keep things neat.
    for my humble abode, i use 1 ethernet cable pulled through the wall and use a single ethernet face mount. This is the most simplest and basic beginner setup. The patch panel you demonstrated is for when you are requiring a lot more ports for a neater setup.
    but i think you should also mention that rack cabinet you are putting the patch panel into as it's part of the parcel isn't it? you don't just use the patch panel stand alone, as you would normally put it into some sort of rack, usually against the wall where all those cables are jutting out of the hole isn't it? maybe this deserves part 2 to this video or something.

      Thanks for pointing that out. Will do an update when i do my 2021 network upgrade video.

      @@MikeFaucher mike check this out ruclips.net/video/lg2oGE02DJE/видео.html
      in this video notice how there is a bunch of cables sticking out that hole, but is neatly hidden away by that rack that contains the patch cable.
      also this was the cabinet type i was talking about, where it is up against the wall so it can sorta hide away those ugly cables jutting out the hole in the wall, so it has those patch panels instead for interfacing with a switch nearby conveniently :}
      some extra points you can add to your video :}

    Hi mike ... if we install cat 7 in this panel we loose speed from cat 7 ? because i see this panel say cat 6a .... cat 6a have 500 MHz and cat 7 have 600 MHz ... we loose this 100MHZ if this panel is for cat 6a ?

    • @MikeFaucher
      @MikeFaucher  Год назад

      Not at all if will work fine. 6A and 7 do not differ much. This panel is mainly to support any version of shielded cable so it will work fine.
