IMO most valuable card was Remora that drew Ryan 5 cards even before his turn 2 and carried his otherwise horrible 0 land starting hand. Amount of greed in this game was just insane.
I'm not 100% on this interaction but: Since you flicker Atraxa doesn't that mean that Otawara will not bounce it since the Atraxa on the battlefield is a new permanent rather than the one Otawara was targeting? By the way, awesome game, really fun to watch.
@@yawgmothivecometobargain5746 Oh yeah, 100% didn't end up mattering in this case but it's interesting to try to keep up with these complicated rules situations.
@@RGL1AX1M because Atraxa was flickered, the game sees it as a new permanent. Therefore, the target of Otawara is no longer there and the ability fizzles
@@RGL1AX1Mnot sure what you mean. Otawara is colorless as a land and remains such when channeled and not effected by veil of summer. Specifically, otawara's channel ability has to have a target going onto the stack and it checks for the target on resolution. Because Atraxa was flickered, the original Atraxa that was targeted is no longer considered to be on the board and Otawara's ability fizzles as it no longer has a target. In this case, Atraxa would not be bounced.
8:31 had to be the start of the funniest thing I've seen on a cEDH video. Not that the moves were wrong but that stack was an absolute wreck! 10/10 voice over, Ryan!
Yeah but Liberator, Urza's Battle Thopter and Slicer have won events. A lot of these events are terrible but just posted online, and when players see some terrible commander they don't rate it as a threat and don't send much interaction that way. I agree that Atraxa is probably viable, but winning YT events is not a yardstick for viability.
Did Ryan have more than 33 cards left in his library after all that fish-feeding, the Tainted Pact and all those Atraxa triggers? Because, if he didn't, the dungeon loop would've decked him out. 🙃
@@beefbelly but he still cant cast acererak if the last step is to "draw a card" if there is no cards in his library, if he does he loses the game. He would need a lab maniac/jace or an endurance to fill his library, I'm guessing the video skips past that and just declares the win, because they know that deck already has those cards, but still true nonetheless.
Great game! Didn’t matter too much, but I am pretty sure that Pact of Negation still resolves, the spell is just not countered because Veil of Summer made it uncounterable :)
the sheer amount of blue cards all being played in the stack this game got me feeling like the "HAHAHA YES!" sickos guy...THIS is pure mtg the way I intend it to be played!!!
Ashani (and everyone else), what do you think of the minimalist card style? I really like the look of them on the MPCFill, but I wasn't sure if they would turn out well on paper. Do you like how they ended up? Thanks for the video.
Good game. Wheres a Mommy Elesh when you need one????? Lol. Would have shut down that whole turn. Was fun to see it tho. Also Ottawara would not have bounced Atraxa but it didnt matter anyway. Also as play to win says....Food Chain wins games!
Cool game, just wondering, as it didn't matter, but doesn't sylvan library draw you the 3 cards then you either put them back or pay 4 life for each, so wouldn't smothering tithe trigger for the three draws even if you put two back. Sorry for the rules question, and thanks for the upload!
I'm surprised they had enough cards left over in the deck to accerak loop seeing how the final chapter is a mandatory card draw effect EDIT: rewatched the video counting everytime he drew or exiled for tainted pact: he should've had 30 cards left in deck, less than the max amount of life, unless he had a way to recover cards he would've decked himself before winning with this line. always good to ask how many cards are left in deck before scooping... EDIT (again): looking through the decklist as far as i can tell endurance wasn't exiled from tainted pact, meaning they could recur the graveyard for the last 4 life, so it was a good win.
So when atraxa is flickered by cull the weak and it comes back in doesn't that drop it off the target list for otawara since when something moves between game zones it comes back in as a new creature and thus otawara has no target and would fizzle? time at 11:32 when this happens
Can someone explain why Ashani played the lotus petal into the remora with nothing to cast off the mana? And less so why he played the mana crypt and rhystic study when the remora player missed their first land? Am I just playing against the fish wrong?
Acererak specifically asks whether or not you've completed the Tomb of Annihilation. Ryan keeps completing the Lost Mine of Phandelver. This way he's able to bounce Acererak infinitely.
