I think its pretty cool to see a speedrunner make alterations to their route when playing when they mess up or forget something like what happened here. Really enjoyable to watch the ingenuity.
This guy was great, loved the run.
Great runner with a funny sense of humour and a interesting commentary on his own run!
ikr this is like the third run i actually watch enterily
He's pretty good, but it really annoys me when they do the whole sarcastic fake-out gag over and over. Like "oh shoot I died! What am I going to do?!?!?" and "This is the longest dungeon in the game!" It just gets old.
i think thats intentional xD
Yea he's pretty annoying lol
It made me laugh out loud!
"Im low on health"
Every OoT speedrunner, ever.
hahahahahahahah YES
"Oh no I died
haha jk it was a death warp"
King Dodongo the first, last, and second boss in the game
Seanan Shanks for real lol
What the fuck
seems legit
"I mean, look at the way he slurps up his soup." My favorite line from Zelda in the whole game.
Sam Shields "my father always said never trust a ginger"
Pulls out a fully baked potato from her hat
There is SO MUCH, goddamn waiting, in Ocarina
lmao
Sam Shields Aaaaand where is that dialogue...?
This dude is a class act, for sure. I'd say he's the coolest runner I've seen.
Probably one of the best runs I've seen, great commentary and really impressive glitches and improvisations.
People were really complaining that this got in the lineup over over the original OoT? they've had the original in almost every year. I'd rather see the remake. at least it's something new.
Absolutely. I want to learn tricks for the version I'd rather play.
What people just don’t like change
Missed the stream, luckily these runs get uploaded to RUclips rather quickly.
19:36 "Now, here's this letter... I hope it helps you on your-"
**Link immediately begins moonwalking away**
And Link is just like: I had that dream. I just fall over and over again!
Love to see a 3D Run of this game. Thought that it is like the N64 Version. Same route same tricks. Glad to see that it is not! :D
KathisEvoli it's like how wwhd is completely different from the origina
KathisEvoli it's like they're completely different games.
This was an amazing run! Glad I got to see it live. :)
What an entertaining speedrum with a guy who knows what he is doing and can explain everything he does and also has a great sense of humour. Love this dude!
As soon as I heard him say "one of the longer dungeons" I was like, "he's probably gonna beat this in 20 seconds
Really awesome runner, great commentary guy!
That was a fantstic run, and the fact that he was able to improvise his mistakes, show off different tricks because of it and actually make it an even more entertaining run by doing so blew my mind. Also his commentary on every trick while explaining all of the differences and the reasons behind them from the original was freaking amazing. AND HE STILL BEAT HIS ESTIMATED TIME. What a legend. One of the better runs I've seen for sure
(wrong warps into title screen) I am amazed that's even possible.
7:00 here you go
thank you
That comment about Bombchus is so on point. Even playing a Newgame-Hammer-On-B run, the fastest way you can get bombchus IIRC is from the Skulltula House, at which point you're definitely not speedrunning. Literally using a glitch to start with a lategame item isn't enough to get Bombchus earlier.
Sooo, when he did a "hookshot jump" I thought to myself, "Hey, those look like Doom jumps!"
Made it all the funnier when he mentioned it. ;)
wow! what timeliness! i was just lamenting how i missed the last part of this speedrun, but now here it is!
Thank you for doing this run; this was amazing and well put together. Again, thank you
awesome run and commentary - very entertaining :)
This guy REALLY reminds me of Stephen Georg.
Regan O'Hara YOOO YOU KNOW HIM TOO? He's kinda small
I completely agree!!!!
Now I HAVE to watch!
OMG yes!!
Yeah, they both have similar senses of humor and appearance. Even the voices are similar.
Easily my favorite speedrun in terms of the runner's personality and narration
This guy is definitely my favorite runner. He's hilarious and talks a lot about what he's doing.
I'm happy this was uploaded right away, because I fell asleep in the middle of it
That was such a pleasure to watch! Thanks Ben!
thumbnail is my face while watching this
nathanisbored you look surprised or... sleepy? Are the ZZZZ from you or are you sitting on something?
i meant the video thumbnail, not my avatar
NIklas Felder 🌚
thats because your a filthy casual
Loool
"I just rom warped into the main menu..."
Speedrunners are weird and awesome. I love you all.
I love his commentary, it makes the run so much better
Great run! I actually enjoyed this more than the "classic" N64 Any% run, we get to see so many interesting glitches and much more of this amazing game.
Also, 2:03:43 is totally the "ok" moment from One-Punch Man. XD
This is a great run with a really good commentory. My favorite speedrun
I love how the runner is keeping his entertainment skills up all the time!
Man, what a great run. Really interesting stuff going on, even if you've already seen runs of the N64 version.
Commentary was wonderful too!
AAAAHHHHHH!!!!! I cant believe I missed this live. I must have been working that week. I will definitely catch the next one live.
awesome m8, i watched you yesterday and i couldn't stop watching
Easily the best and funniest run yet. I love AGDQ!
so glad this is back on
a great run! funny moments, able to adapt to his mistakes, explains all the glitches really well, glad i keep on coming back to watch this run.
help me
"Look out for his signature move: Lean back and breathe" lol
nFINALLY SOMETHING ZELDA IS TRENDING YES OMHG
KymanForLife Ikr?!? I mean also Zelda Breath of The Wild was trending too when it was announced :3
KymanForLife YEAH! (ignore my name and profile, I started with fusion, then minish cap)
lmao.
Oh, Young Waker of the Winds hello my brother from another mother
hes a good runner nice balance of skill improvise and humor keep it up
I watched this live and it was absolutely amazing 👌💛
1:35:07 was the best moment of the episode
Good to see you guys are still doing this! Keep up the good work! :)
This was awesome! So informative in an interesting way. What a beautifully broken game haha
First few minutes so much nostalgia damn it I miss my childhood
Fantastic commentary, great knowledge of the game. Awesome runner and speed run.
Hey nice! Glad the vid is up already. I missed the last bit.
one of the most mind boggling speedruns ive ever seen
My donation goes to naming the Mudkip Waluigi!!
Audience:WAAAAAAA!!!!
Me:lmao! 😂😂😂😂
time stamp?
MightyMilotic I found what I asked for.
Such a nice run! glad Games Done Quick is back i need something to waste my life on
I never knew there was a boss rush mode.
Fisherman 765 Cool
1:45:00
You can actually get the Mirror Shield again in Majora's Mask without glitches. You can just go to the area where it is and the shield will be there. Actually, I think it's the regular shield that's there, but if anything, you can change which one you have. I don't know if it works on the 3d or N64 version, but it worked on the Collector's Edition version.
Awesome commentary, I really enjoyed the run :)
Probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite speedrun I've seen on GDQ, next to the Link's Awakening 2016 run.
i had only followed OOT N64-GC runs, but man was this run surprisingly entertaining and cool to watch. Gotta follow OOT 3D speedruns!
Awesome run! I'm pretty familiar with N64 Ocarina Of Time so it was really cool seeing all of the differences and similarities of the 3DS version, great job by Benstephens!
this run was awesome, nice commentary and consistent gameplay
Wow, that's pretty fast, well done there!
@benstephens56 That slingshot skip in Dodongo's Cavern 35:12 was amazing! I started learning the earlier parts of the run just so I can not have much of an advantage but still show some swag when my roommates and I 100% OoT3D. I went back and got the slingshot because I wasn't able to look it up where I was.
If anybody is wondering, Warmham is the person who speedrunned Super Meat Boy at GDQ2016
“Wow, I never expected ocarina of time 3D to be even more broken than the original!”
Given Nintendo’s history of remaking n64 games, I’m not surprised.
Even better that it wasn't Nintendo that made this one. Grezzo did
So much text subtext. I love it!
I really enjoyed this run! :D
Anyone else find it strange how the game is called “Ocarina of Time” and yet he never gets the ocarina of time
It's also strange how this game is called ocarina of time yet time isn't a major mechanic like in MM
The runner was really funny, I love his attitude towards the company of the game he's running xD
He KEPT tricking me... Even once I was wise to his tricks I was like "no it sounds like he's being genuine." Like in the forest temple I was like, "He might be lying and this dungeon might be short but it sounds like he's telling the truth. Here comes a long dungeon.... FUCK HE TRICKED ME AGAIN."
You guys are awesome! Keep doing what you're doing. ☺
This has to be my favorite GDQ run ever.
AGDQ comes back stronger than ever!
one of the most entertaining runs for sure
I don’t have a 3ds anymore and I haven’t really played this version, but something about links roll animation just makes me feel wrong.
What a cool guy, nice sense of humour! I laughed a lot, that and the run were great!
this screen set up is cool. i can see the game really easily
how in the world is this trending?!? I mean,I'm not complaining but, wow, fucking nice.
Justin Annanmanthodo Because AGDQ is a massive event.
uchytjes10 also I forgot this was #AGDQ2017 and not ADGQ 2016 .-.
It's kind of interesting because I recently played through Ocarina of Time 3D and timed myself to see how long it would take to complete it without using glitches and playing through it normally. It took me 6 hours 10 min and 6 seconds. Kind of interesting that this run of all dungeons was a third of my time to actually do every dungeon.
Nice this made it on Trending
I knew about all these glitches and seeing a pro doing them is awsome
What a wonderful run. Great commentary, lots and lots of interesting tech and glitches. This is basically the perfect GDQ run, it has everything. Some of the jokes get a bit repetitive and I rolled my eyes at a lot of them like the speedrunning nerd favorite "Duhhh that's not how gravity works!!" and shit like that. But everything else is so good I can look past that.
A genuinely entertaining run.
"The broken Giant's Knife is kind of pointless"
What do you use to record the 3DS footage? Does Nintendo need to send a specific kind of capture card?
Hootey, is that you reading the donation things here?
Links face at the end killed me, especially when he just blinked like, "ya wot m8" xD
Is there any difference in terms of glitches between the N64 version and gamecube version (In collector's edition)?
Best commentary yet
Legit question (one I'll probably ask on the reupload). Wouldn't it be faster to do the debug glitch BEFORE Death Mountain? That way you already have the Hammer, thus cutting out most of the dungeon and shaving several minutes off the run? Or did I miss a detail about why the order was the way it was?
Axetwin remember how I said I made a small mistake on the way to hookshot? Well the mistake wasn't so small. I needed to put farore's wind behind the door of time right after exiting the light medallion cutscene, so that I could go back directly after first temple. Somehow I managed to forget, so on the fly, I devised a plan to wrong warp into the cutscene where the door opens, as it was probably the fastest way to get behind it. So you're exactly right. What I did was pretty slow and bad.
Oooooh yeah I remember that mistake. Thanks for the answer.
Awesome run, great commentary
His commentary was great awesome run
Oh shit, I missed AGDQ 2017. Thank fuck there are uploads
Jakiro TheTwinHeadedDragon it's going on right now, just started earlier today
Oh! Early uploads. Thanks bud.
"Ahahaha we left all the bugs in on purpose because we wanted to haha yeah but you know what we will fix we'll fix *that fucking owl*."
And there was much rejoicing.
That whole bit with the wrong warping was hilarious xD
I'm glad the speed runner brought up that the developers didn't leave the glitches in on purpose but were basically fibbing during the interview. I hear that BS all the time whenever facts are brought up about this game.
really nailed the thumbnail
I hope they'll put them all in order when it will be finished, my ocd can't look at the sgdq 2016 playlist
The name "All bosses" suits the run better.
Ian Mejias I actually forgot to talk about the definition and what it means! Completing a dungeon in OoT and OoT3D is defined as entering the blue warp of the dungeon. It seems a little weird at first but it's truly the best way to define completion of a dungeon.
benstephens1000 Fair enough.
Btw, you are very entertained to watch.
Hey Benstephens - Great Run! Loved the improvisations.Quick question - how do you keep farore's wind active on x/y in death hole? Everytime I do the glitch, I arrive in lakeside lab with farore's wind deactivated if on x or y. Can only make the death hole glitch work by doing ocarina items to unlock the bottom screen. Thanks
Peter Aadoson being revived by a fairy will lock items that use magic out of use. Doing OI will allow you to use magic again though. I'm only assuming that using a fairy is what is causing you problems though, but if that's not the case, let me know and I'll figure it out.
You were right. It was the fairy that was getting me. Thanks for the quick reply.
