    I had SOOOOO much trouble with HP. They do not have the reputation they used to. Hours after hours, going into days and them months of technical assistance to no avail, I finally had to return the Envy, exchange it and then return the second one, that's *2* HP Envy desktops from Costco and on the 3rd try I exchanged them for the Lenovo Laptop. So far so good. Even tho my returns were desktops, I just thought the emmence trouble I went through with HP is worth mentioning. Also, it was Costco's customer service that was so helpful in resolving the issues with the crappy product, not HP.

    The HP Envy 15" is at Best Buy for $780... Not on sale. Normal price. I've seen it go down to $550 frequently recently, so learn where to buy your laptop 👍 because I can't believe you would pay over $1,000 , unless you got an over the top model. The HP at Best Buy for $780 has the same specs as the Lenovo Flex and again, with the same specs I got it for $550 at Best Buy

    • @skykennedy3574
      @skykennedy3574 4 года назад

      I could be wrong but I'm not sure you're correct. Here's the specs I pulled from Best buy for the 780 dollar match I found: HP - ENVY x360 2-in-1 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 - 8GB Memory - 256GB SSD - Nightfall Black. The one with closer matching specs was the Ryzen 7 model but it was 949 dollars and had 8 gigs ram. There were some open box ones for the price you mention but that's lame. Lastly neither models on BB were 16 GB Ram

    I’m looking for an ultrabook for private use.
    At work, a few years ago, I decided to switch from Dell to HP after many years as a Dell user. Boy, did I regret that! I ordered a $4500 portable workstation, built to order. And it was just an experience from hell from day one! The damn thing had so many issues. It froze completely after a few hours of use. It was sent back and forth and they couldn’t sort it out. The experience stuck with me, and I just can’t bring myself to even consider an HP product now. Consumer confidence is so easily broken.

I would agree with most of your assessments up until you compared price - You have a 14" and a 15" with the additional disparage between them being one is a RYZEN 7 vs RYZEN 5 - needless to say, of course there would be a significant price difference - not quite a fair assessment which leads me to believe you were slightly biased towards the Lenovo - other than that - good video

      The Flex actually has a double heatpipe for cooling the CPU, as opposed to a single one on the Envy which means that, with the same processor, the Lenovo would tend to perform better.

    this lenovo has 25% of ssd size, lower processor and no usb dongle. ryzen 7 performance is much higher when using dual channel ram, so i would not recommend any non upgradeable 1x 8gb for example (most lenovos except this one and the 4700u one at costco for 1000). hp is dual channel 4 + 4 both upgradeable, so even if you stay with the 8gb you'll get full benefit of dual channel performance. Lenovos includes usb c charger, totally ridiculous. means you can't charge and use usb c port at same time, so the first thing to do, go and buy a barrel port charger. the whole point of usb c power delivery is to use a usb-c power bank on the road. Instead they want you to use a mobile port for charging but you still need a 110v wall outlet - hilarious!. also i believe lenovo usb c does not support external display so deal breaker for me. The costco hp is the best option although if would make more sense if priced at 950 vs 1100, or it it came with 16gb

      I got 512GB SSD nvme, dual channel 16GB DDR4 3200mhz, 4700u for $750 at Costco. Super satisfied with the performance, I don't need to charge and use the USB c at the same time, so it doesn't matter to me. It charges quickly and the battery lasts long.

    Is it just mine or does the fan on this laptop get pretty loud when plugged in to a high resolution external monitor (2560x1080 or higher) and on ac power? Can't seem to get this fan to quiet down and it is super annoying.
    PC is fast otherwise. But weakpoints are definitely screen color accuracy, weight (relative to macbook pro or xps 13), and build quality which is two tiers below MBP or XPS13.

    • @MichaelFlatman
      @MichaelFlatman 4 года назад

      It's annoying the turbo boost for CPU is very high when plugged in and low usage. I've seen it go to 4ghz at 10% CPU load. Unplugging it makes CPU drop to appropriate speed and fans quieten down. Hopefully can be fixed in software update.

    • @MichaelFlatman
      @MichaelFlatman 4 года назад +1

      @@pcmactek not really. Anyway I found a fix. You need to go download a program to customise your power plan.. Change all CPU options to be the same on battery as plugged in
      On battery it's set to 50% performance (0) efficiency (100) and plugged in it was set to 33%.. This makes it not clock below 2.6ghz plugged in. Change it to 50 on both AC and DC and you will be golden.

      For his use-case (realtor), he probably doesn't need the extra power or upgrade-ability of the HP. So the lower cost of the Lenovo suits him. I think he presented the tests between the two pretty fairly, so that each viewer could make their own decision on which computer wins. Like you, it's the HP for me.

      Do you take your laptop everywhere or is it stationary 95% of the time? The 14" will be noticeably lighter at 3.3lbs. The 15" is about 4.4lbs. I've owned two lap tops around both weights, and the 3lbs one is alot easier to move around. However, if you don't plan on taking it around much, then it's going to be left up to which one has the better features.
