I was at this show and we were all so disappointed that Crown and BD got rained out, but it was still cool to see these guys perform
If you ever have a chance to go to Marine Barracks Washington DC at 8th and I on a Summer Friday for the Evening parade, it is so nice! You are so close to the Silent Drill Platoon and can really hear the sounds of the performance.

To me, the craziest thing about these guys is they're all infantry Marines. Most had never done this kind of drill until they showed up at the unit. Almost none have any music or performance background at all. These dudes are all legit door kicking, grenade throwing, bunker rushing badasses. The fact that they learn to perform drill at this level in just a matter of months blows my mind!
Yep! Every other service drill team has been actively recruiting talent from the high school and post-HS activity but not the Marines! Always impressive and videos don’t do them justice.

How do you know all were infantry?
@@fekeke286 When I marched with the Commandant's Own they all were. We toured with them so I got to know a few. That's been a few years ago now, though.

I was in the Corps for 12 years. I’m not sure if the deal is the same but I heard that after two performance drops you are sent back the FMF. If it’s the first drop I imagine he got to spend quite a few hours in
the dreaded “hall of mirrors”.
Recovery from a drop is also part of the job. They are required to handle every situation as if it was pre planned as random and difficult as it may be.
