I've been waiting years for a tutorial that goes over this stuff in such a high amount of detail, thank you.
Let's see a helicopter tutorial!
People that play KSP will literally take on any subject to learn and understand it so that it can be applied. Have always had to learn a whole bunch of cool exciting stuff and I've found a lot of interests, academically, because of it. Was struggling with attempting to use the Kal outside of what other youtubers did. It's all been tested on their side so they put exact figures for propellors or angles etc. This is brilliant because there's so much more I'd love to implement with all this knowledge so thank you. Will most probs have to rewatch a few times at key points just to check back xD
Was tryna build a helicopter and separately an ssto which incl propellors (vtol maybe?)
Gonna have a ton of fun so thanks again
Also, what an insane view you have behind your desk 😳
It’s a shame that you seem to have stopped making videos - you’re a very good educator. Reducing quite complex information into a form that lots of people can understand is a talent - pick up the camera again for ksp2!
you are great at convaing information. Thanks for teaching me and helping me to have a better understanding of ksp
Thank you so much dude! Now I got much more possibilities to be more creative!
This guy is underrated
Id love to see a good example of a simple efficient refueling base for the mun or minmus
Hey! That's a great idea for a video, I've got a Mining and Refining platform that I use at the core of both my current bases, here's a link to it on KerbalX if you want to take a look! kerbalx.com/urban_venture/MMRP-+-OFS
lol. since a week i‘m tryin to get my hoverthrone working and you just did a tut with a hoverthrone, summarizing up directly the info what i was missing to do :‘D
Using your tutorial I successfully KAL Autopiloted a rocket to a circular Kerbin orbit. I launch using the Kal, it directs itself to the nearest comfy orbit, and awaits further improvement.
I started out launching SRBs straight up I'm not supposed to know this sort of thing
That’s so awesome to hear! Exactly why I made these videos!
You've explained this very well! Opened my eyes to more uses for the KAL!
Wow! This introduces a new level of fun in KSP.
Thx for going through the basics, was confused about how to do custom rcs, now I'm all good.
Damn, this looks great. The most complicated thing id did witha KAL was a little refueling craft that landed and once there stood up on its own using piston but this... Now i want to do a newer version maybe
I've seen that thing in the r&d list but haven't seen anyone use it for anything not-cheaty
Interesting functionality that i didn't know about
Thanks for the 3 helpful videos
Propellers have given me alot of trouble. Would you make a tutorial for that please??
Hah, love the farming sim for your controls. Thanks for the tutorials, you made the best one out there!
Love the content Urban! In terms of 'what next', would love to see your tips on how to tackle those annoying survey missions. They're usually something like 'over 16k at location x', and doing it with the early rocket parts is incredibly difficult, but getting a plane up to those heights is also hard.
In my experience, it's best to skip those missions if you can. If you really want to do them, I recommend building a "cruise missile" style craft that uses rocket engines to fly but has multiple control surfaces to maneuver.
Thanks Philip and great suggestion! I'm thinking of putting together a few guides for early career stuff and contracts, I'll definitely make sure to cover this in the guide! :D
big thnx, broo
What brought me here was the need for a robotic grabbing arm... maybe thats a good idea
Thanks Bruno! I have made a Robotic Arm to work on both my Space Stations and Surfaces Bases for my current career. They work pretty well, if a little slow, but have a tendency to get warped over time due to the robotics bugs in the current game :(
I guess on console there is no way to control the thrust limiters on engines other than the main throttle
What is that equipment mounted at your desk? Also, do you use it for KSP?
Imagine having a craft with 10000T of mass (if your PC can handle it lol) and needing to use vector engines for rcs
Hi, does anyone know how to put SAS on this? I can't seem to figure it out. All answers greatly appreciated!
Hey, unfortunately the KAL Controller cannot take the SAS inputs and apply them, just the ones you can bind in the action group menu like WASD. It’s a shame
What is your version of ksp ?
1.12.3 ?
Thanks
Thrust Limiter isnt listed in the Selection Field... I'm on Xbox One.
Same, but in PS4. did you find any solution?
@@tengounapregunta.992 Nope. I got frustrated & gave up...
@@tengounapregunta.992 Completely forgot about it, too. Right around that time, my job got insane. Today is the first time I turned my console on in 4 months!
So you can't make a fully automated craft with the Kal? Like accent, gravity turn and circularization burn?
It is possible however the KAL can’t intake any information about what is happening to the craft, like speed and altitude. It’s not too hard to automate a launch to orbit if your craft is always exactly the same each time (and easier on bodies with no atmosphere) however if you change anything on the rocket you will probably have to reprogram the KAL.
@@urbanventure3343 So all I would have to do is have a standard rocket and control the TWR to always be the same?
