    Here's how to mount and resin a photo using Art Resin!
    First, you need a wooden panel (as opposed to a canvas). Clamp your print down on one side and lift up the other side so you can use spray adhesive on the panel. Use PLENTY of spray adhesive! Then let go of the print, letting it fall in place, and cover it with a clean sheet of paper. This is to protect the print from having any glue transfer during the next step, which is rolling over the print to really stick it down. I use a brayer (the thing that looks like a roller) to roll everything flat, get out any air bubbles, and stick the print down well. Once that's done, unclamp the one end and repeat so everything is glued in place.
    Because the print is usually a tiny bit larger than the panel, you'll want to flip the piece over and cut off the extra bit with an X-acto knife.
    Your piece is now mounted and you're ready to resin!
    To use Art Resin, simply pour equal parts from each bottle into a mixing container and mix well (i.e. at least 3 solid minutes). Then pour it over your mounted photo and spread it out with a spreader. Art Resin will self-level, but it's always good to spread by hand and help it out a bit.
    Once everything is covered, use a flambé torch quickly over the surface to help eliminate any bubbles. Then just let it sit overnight and your piece will cure to a firm finish by morning. It's full cure takes approximately 72 hours.
    There you go-an easy way to get a professional finish on a photo. Give it a try!

    • @Artresin

      +Ginstereeno no need to pre-seal - so long as you use the right paper. photo paper or something with a bit of gloss does not soak in the resin. a bit of experimenting but the print in this video was done at walmart on their std photo paper and worked great.

    Great video. I print my photos on glossy photo paper and then add them to a resin coaster. I use mod podge to adhere and then pour the art resin on top. The problem is that I get bleed through in some places, but not over the whole photo. Then the blotches are very noticeable. Any idea how I can prevent that?

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  2 года назад +1

      Hi Suzanne, you should try sealing the entire photo prior to coating with resin. Seal the back and the front, pay close attention to the edges as well. You can use Mod Podge for this, just be sure it is completely dry before you pour. This should prevent any resin from being absorbed into the photo paper and leaving blotches.

    Thanks for video. Can. I use my art on water paper for art resin? And can I use hairdryer instead of torch?

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  5 лет назад +3

      Yes, you can use ArtResin on paper, but make sure you do a test on a scrap piece first to see if you need to seal your work before your resin. We don't recommend using a hairdryer - the heat from a hairdryer is not enough and it blows air ( including dust floating in the air ) all over your wet resin. We always recommend using a flame torch - a little creme brulee style butane torch works very well :)

    Idk what I'm doing wrong with my life... I can't get a solid surface it creates resin voids. I apply the resin even and as it settles it creates little empty spots... They aren't bubbles... I did try the torch and that made it worse... Help

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  4 года назад

      Hi Nikole, Are you using silicone oil or something similar in your piece? Silicone oil does repel ArtResin and you will end up with bare spots in your finished piece. I have used silicone in my own pieces and once dry I do a good sealant, basically creating a barrier between the silicone and resin. You can really use any sealant that you like, just be sure that it dries clear.
      Once your sealant is dry you can go ahead and pour your ArtResin :)

    You may not see this since it is 5 years later, but I used this exact method and it looks fine, but other resin users are telling me I still need to seal it. I use premium photo gloss paper for my photography and digital artwork. Not sealing shouldn’t cause problems in the long run, should it?

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  3 года назад

      You should not have problems now, you would have noticed the problems right away. We generally recommend sealing paper to prevent it from absorbing the resin and taking on a wet appearance and also to prevent off gassing. High gloss papers don't always require sealing as they have a coating on them, always good to test first to be sure.

    Hi..i am from India..please guide me how can I protect my photo in resin. I got it printed on photo paper glossy and matte which is in the photo studio lab. Thanks in advance!

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  2 года назад

      We usually recommend sealing paper prior to applying ArtResin as some papers can absorb the resin and look wet. Most times glossy photo paper is coated and does not need to be sealed however it is always best to test first. If you are applying a sealer pay close attention to the cut edges of the photo as they can absorb the resin and darken. Once sealer has dried, you can just pour the resin over top after mounting.

    Please tell us the paper gsm details. I've tried on normal paper and it got washed away.

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  3 месяца назад

      This was just standard glossy photo paper from the photo print desk at our local Walmart. However, there are lots of variables that can make a difference: For example, glossy photo paper works better than matte. Glossy paper doesn't absorb the resin like matte can. The ink makes a big difference too - a photo printed on a home inkjet printer isnt going to be the same as a photo printed using professional equipment. We always suggest testing first on a scrap photo to make sure you know what to expect. You may need to seal the photo first with a sealant that is safe for photos. Hope that helps!

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  3 месяца назад

      @@presh6969 Happy to help! By sealing, I'm referring to applying a brush on or spray sealant. It's clear-drying topcoat that acts as a barrier so that the paper won't absorb the resin or the ink won't smudge.

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  3 месяца назад

      So hard to say without seeing it, but could be the photo paper or the ink reacting with ingredients in the resin you're using. You can try putting a sealant on the photo first - that way it creates a barrier in between the resin and the photo.
      We always recommend doing a little test first on a scrap piece - that way you'll know exactly what results to expect.

    What do you do with the edges to prevent drips?

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  Год назад

      We like to use painters tape and tape off the underside of the panel edges. Place your panel on blocks or stands to elevate it off of the table a bit. When you pour the resin over the surface allow it to flow down and coat the sides, using your gloved hand to smooth the resin across the edges to coat. When the resin has cured to the touch you can pull off the tape and the drips will be removed with it.

    That's pretty amazing - great process thanks so much. If I use it I'll send you a tip! Arff. For more commercial wall pieces though - the materials are a bit over the top. Especially the last - the resin. I can understand the heirloom - but for a display of less personal meaning and more - "you paid what??" - I'm going to use plain old ELMERS GLUE ALL. I checked and it's as good a finish coat as any - mod podge in particular - and you can do any finish from gloss to flat by adding wax. Right now I'm looking into UV additives - so far they're really really expensive. But I expect to figure it out on a budget. Maybe something as simple as SUNSCREEN! (Zinc Oxide or something - it's clear when mixed with white vinegar - makes an excellent sunscreen for a spray bottle.
    HEY - have a nice day!

    • @Artresin

      Thanks for watching! :) And yes, there are lots of different ways to seal artwork or photos, at every price point, so always choose whichever works best for you! I like that you're experimenting - you never know what you'll discover through trial and error!
      I will say, once you try resin and experience how thick and glossy the coating is, you'll see what a difference it makes vs a varnish or acrylic sealant. It has a WOW factor that is hard to put into words. It makes colors richer and deeper, and the way it allows light to pass through it ... it amplifies every detail and provides beautiful depth and dimension. When I put resin over artwork, I always think of the scene in the Wizard of Oz where it goes from black and white into color ☺. Have a great day too!!

    Can this be used on plexiglass?

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  8 месяцев назад

      Yes, you can apply ArtResin to plexiglass. Because it is plastic, there is a small chance it may peel off ... some of our artists like to sand the plexiglass first to give some tooth for the ArtResin to adhere to.
      The biggest thing to prevent separation between the two surfaces aside from the sanding it would be to keep a steady temperature. Drastic changes in temperature may cause the resin to separate front the substrate.
