So imagine my surprise as I'm searching for tutorials on how to do this resin finish and the video I pick has my old friend Brad from Swallows! Great to see that you are doing well!!
Wear gloves and Eye protection. Place your art on the floor, on a dropcloth for best result of levelness. You can prop it on risers also, like yogurt cups, or coffee cans filled with rocks or sand. Tape edges of canvas to protect, or it may spill on the sides. You can also not cover sides, and use your glove to paint the sides in resin lightly. Pour Part A + B together in equal parts, mix in a cup thoroughly for 3-4 minutes, pour and spread it on the artwork, from center outward with scraper, which needs to be level or the resin won't be even. Try to push it just to the edge, so its not dripping off, but just suspended there. Wipe off if it goes over the side. Use a flame torch to pop bubbles if desired, like a torch from 12" away. You have 30 minutes until it hardens. Let it cure at least 24 hours, Covered in cardboard tents, so no dust gets on, and your good to go.
Absolutely superb work! Thanx for trying this product.Just bought it and you have given me the courage to try it out! Thanks so much! Ps your garage is cleaner than my home ! Deb S.
Great work!! How do you prevend the epoxy to shift back from the edges to the middle? Mine look perfect at the start and by the time its dry the edges come free from epoxy. It's not as tight as Id like it to be be
Great work for sure, love the way they came out. I never used resin before but heard of it so I looked it up and this is the first video I clicked on. I do have a question. Did u have to do anything to your canvas before adding the resin so it doesn’t bleed or anything?
Hey Brad, is there a concern about the apoxy yellowing over time? I did my first poor and it looked pretty good. But somebody told me I should put a polyurathane over to protect it from yellowing. Have you heard of this?
I'm about to try this but my plan is to do that first layer and then to do a very thick layer on top of it. But I can't decide if I should just do the a big layer all at once. If it was just wood you would do a small layer and then a big one and then a small one . Random but have you been to The Narrows in Utah? It's one of the most interesting hikes I've ever been on and they can go pretty much as long as you want it to go because it never ends. A lot of it is walking through water, but the like the colors of the walls are gorgeous. And the way the light breaks through the ravine like way above you and it just like it gives you sight after sight after sight and never ends
Nice photos! The resin really makes for a beautiful finish. I can't quite tell in the video, and maybe you mentioned it and I missed it, but did you let the resin naturally drip over the edges or did you brush around the edges or did you tape off the edges and remove the tape leaving the edges sans resin? Hardened resin drippings are an issue for me and I'm just looking for ways to minimize the after-mess. Thanks for sharing, your photos are top notch!
Hi I just watched your video, your photos are amazing and the demonstration was easy to follow. I have watched a number of videos recently and some presenters have stated that resin yellows over time. I'm hoping this isn't always true. Do you know how art resin performs in the long term. Is there any yellowing?
I just painted an abstract painting using flat and gloss paint so it has an interesting look to it. Ifor I pour a resin over it will it turn everything to a gloss or will it stay the same with a glass hard shell on it?
I had a go. Followed your advice and am thrilled. BUT. There are quite a few gaps. Can I overlay with another coat sometime to get it totally covered? Would that work. I don't want to ruin the painting. Thanks, Jenny
resin can be applied in multiple coats, and sometimes is required depending on how thick you want the resin layer, and the drying time of the resin being used. if you're encountering gaps once cured, it may be due to several factors- if the painting is on canvas that is not re-enforced, or the mixed resin parts were allowed to sit too long before applying to surface, etc. check this page for prep tips: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/surface-preparation-before-applying-epoxy-resin
i love those pictures! you were very helpful on some questions i had on resin. how did you know how much resin to mix up for that size picture? oh i also love the cars behind you!!
I wanted to buy this product but need help in figuring out how much I need. I would like to coat 4 12x16 pictures, would the 32oz kit work? BTW your photos and canvas prints are amazing.
I have used the Devcon brand epoxy for Salt water fly tying. It yellows after some time exposure to the sun. Now that it has been a while, do you experience any yellowing or the coating not being clear anymore?
Hey, did you treat your canvas print before applying the art resin? I've had a problem with canvas prints getting all crackled looking with other gel coats. I've tried Golden and an industrial brand. From chemical reaction? Or drying? Not sure. Is ArtResin safe for certain types of canvas prints and are the surfaces treated before using art resin?
Great work! I’ve had a problem that some of my photos faded over a short time after coated in resin. They were printed at a pharmacy. Do you have any idea why?
Thanks for the tutorial Brad. OK we tried some test versions (Luckily!). For reasons we don't understand the photograph colors stated running under the resin. We thought it was the heat gun but alas no as we tried another test with no heat gun? We tried clear coating the pics but this made little difference before the resin the previous day. The prints were not new so it's not a case of wet ink. What do you think it could be?
@@Bradscottvisuals I had the same problem - I had purchased my photos from Walmart - the way that they are developed is the problem - the resin seems to dissolve the colour - switched to a different photofinisher and problem solved
I wanted to use this method for my photographs because I absolutely adore how it brings out the colors but then I realized that I didn't like how much glare it came from it. I'm so troubled about what to do! Is this an archival method? Thank you!
Does it get hot? also, how do you clean the cups etc..., or do you throw them out and use new cups each time?. Lastly, I forgot if you mentioned it or not but did you say it is self leveling ?.
It doesn't get hot, I just use disposable cups since it's a pain to clean up. It is self leveling yes. You just need to make sure the print is on a level surface to begin with.
You can either tape the edges to prevent it from spilling over or you can just let it drip over but wipe it off with your finger over and over until it's not dripping anymore.
Enjoyed the video! I make frames like those that your images are mounted to. Do you make your own or do you purchase them? I have a starter set of the resin on the way. Can't wait to give it a go! David
I paint with acrylics and sometimes use Oils. Will my stuff come out looking glossy and reflective like this too with art resin after I spray clear gloss finish on it?
it works better to spray sealant on first, then resin coat. Be aware as well that some whites ( particularly Titanium white ) can react and yellow once exposed to ArtResin so if your piece has a lot of white in it, you may want to seal first anyway. unless you're sanding the resin coat, it will be glossy when cured: ArtResin epoxy resin is formulated to be glossy, however it can be sanded down with fine grit sandpaper and then a matte medium can be applied overtop.
Thanks for sharing. I've got a few questions. How much in cost $ do you think it cost to do each picture? Also have you used other resin brands, and if you have which is you favorite and why? 🤗🎨
Resin and hardener are manufactured to exact specifications. That said why don't you use a scale that has different weight measurements for example grams because that's more accurate than ounces. So if you had 200 grams of resin and just add 200 grams of hardener and mix it in "one container" that would be more accurate then scraping a container
Yes this is the major problem with resin. You have to put a box or some sort of covering on it so you don't get any dust specs or bugs landing on the finished resin
if i wanted to do this over a poster the thing im afraid of will it make the print bleed and look distorted never done resin art before but wanted to try it on a toy box for my grandkids
hi and wow ;-) could you please give me the name (label) of the resin u re using, i mstilll hesitating to use this and yours seems cool :-) thxx and bravo
art resin can't be diluted to a spray form, however you can brush the resin onto your finished art piece. Be mindful that the art resin is too thick to work with after 30-45min; must brush on quickly

Thanks you very much, especially for the tape on the side idea.
Would not put it on the floor. In a garage, the concrete is sloped to drain out water... you'd need to create a level work surface.
This was very helpful, thank you! Your photography is amazing as well.
Thanks, I just bought resin and I am so scared. I love that you explain everything so well. TFS
Makes it look so much better and no need for glass.
you make it look so easy, your one chilled guy.
Brilliant, thank you for showing this and for explaining the sides of the picture, they look fantastic - great video, easy to follow and very clear

Wow... first of all great pics!!! thank you very helpful I'm doing my first today!
Amazing images all by themselves and the resin made them pop! Beautiful.
It's all how you market your work. Excited to try this product.
Beautiful Photography, loveeee it!
Thank u so much for this! Love the art and tutorials it really helped me❤❤
These are awesome! The Antelope Canyon picture is great! From the angle you shot it the large rock in front looks like the face of an antelope👏👏👏😊
His Missus is going to have a fit when she is looking for her towels! Expensive on towels!
Thanks for the Art Resin lesson, love your photography!

Your garage looks like the perfect environment for this. Dust has been a struggle for me. Might have to build some kind of enclosure.
same here i am scared of the space i am working with haha

Spectacular photos and work!!
Your video is very helpful. I’m going to try it on my pyrography engraved artwork.
Your artwork was already WOW but with the resin its like OMG WOW AMAZING PHENOMINAL !!!!!!!!!
Great video bro! Awesome epoxy resin tutorial that could be used for any application. Big thumbs up!
Loved your video. The affect of your photos after the art resin was put on. Thank you for sharing
Beautifully demonstrated thank you impressed by you beautifully ordered garage as well, you will be successful at whatever you do is what I think!
Thanks Brad. Love your work
video is simple and to the point. Are the frames heavier after resin? Sands of time is awesome! Good work Brad!
I use a heat gun to pop the bubbles. Do you have any feelings towards using the heat gun verse the flame?
Hi, Beautiful photos!!
Just wondering..... Can resin be used to cover artwork done in soft pastels, oil pastels and graphite?
You would have to apply a sealer over the work prior so they dont run or bleed
Great photos. Question: when I frame my photos with glass, I use non reflective. I'm just wondering how reflective the resin is? Thanks. 👍

I just saw your message, how was your job? It works? Normally you don’t apply thick layer cause can crack but now I m curious about your try !

this is the easiest explanation, thank you and i love your pictures!!!

Great video & phenomenal results! What is the temperature requirement for Art resin? I usually use Stone coat but these results with 1 coat are 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks Brad this was super helpful
Could you tell me again the side of the canvases and the ounces you used to do both canvases using Part A and Part B?
I had a go. Followed your advice and am thrilled. BUT. There are quite a few gaps. Can I overlay with another coat sometime to get it totally covered? Would that work. I don't want to ruin the painting. Thanks, Jenny

thanks brad!! brilliant video really helped me out
very beautiful, whether the canvas used is matte or glossy?
Thank you! These were glossy canvas
which brand do you use to glue your picture and which sealant do you use to prep your photo before putting resin on it?
i love those pictures! you were very helpful on some questions i had on resin. how did you know how much resin to mix up for that size picture? oh i also love the cars behind you!!

How many oz are in the bottle?
I have a big picture 4 ' x 5 ' . I need to do this, but trying to figure out how much to make. Thank you 4 your help!

You can either tape the edges to prevent it from spilling over or you can just let it drip over but wipe it off with your finger over and over until it's not dripping anymore.
Would this be good for black and white photos made with the Holga camera. The images will be soft focus.
What kind of photo you use sir. Vinyl or paper
Really beautiful
Did you apply varnish before resin?

So this resin didn't cause any kinda ink bleeding? That's what I've run into, been looking for something that won't bleed
Great work!
Do you have any support on the back side of the canvas to keep the surface level? and do you need to treat the canvas first to make it less porous?
What is the liquid used on the canvas ? Just tell the name of bottle plz
so what was a better quality the metal print or the art resin when it was finished??
Can you use resin on items that have been coated with acrylic varnish?
