As a lifelong Protestant, I'm legitimately trying to understand this stuff and even after watching this, I'm still not sold. For me, all Sam established is that there's some biblical basis for the saints knowing what's up on Earth. Okay, cool. I don't really have a problem with that part. But how do we go from that to directing prayer to them? Or focusing on Mary as some sort of extraordinary figure in Heaven? I just don't see any of that in the text and I'm really trying to wrap my head around how it isn't idolatrous. Anything else of actual importance is laid out quite clearly in the Scriptures, quite often in a lot of detail, but these specifically Catholic doctrines just aren't, as far as I can tell.
It is idolatry. Revelations 5 was POORLY misused. This doesn't help his argument. Is there ONE Biblical example of ANYONE praying to Mary. We already know that she was not ever Virgin, as she had other children.
Because there is a difference between prayer and worship. It is wrong to worship Mary or any of the angels, it is permitted to pray. Prayer is not worship. Mary is obviously closer to God, as are the angels and saints. These entities have different jobs and access to the Father. Take into account the fact that Jesus has difference from his Father “Father they do not know”. Jesus said here he has more mercy in some ways than the Father revealing us his purpose and connection to the Father and Holy Spirit. I say this to say that the angels are commanded to fill certain needs for his children. That we know in scripture. So by praying to saints, while worshipping the Father it becomes more effective under certain circumstances. Does that make sense?
@@berkelianatorlemme rephrase the question since I'm also not confident with following the ways of catholic. Beings in Heaven, angels and people, know events that happen on earth according to scripture, cool, gotcha. So WHERE in scripture has there ever been a figure who asked for intercession to the saints IN HEAVEN and the Holy Spirit, God or Jesus (either of one is fine) did He approve of it by granting the request? Or better yet which verses imply that it is okay to ask for intercessions NOT ONLY from those on earth but those in the Heavenly realms? That's our question, that's what we're trying to understand.
I'm good the veil was torn , and now I have been given the gift of the holy spirit ...Others can do what they want no contention I'll personally take my petitions straight to the source.
@@mrscream2028 He prays for me, not to me, and thats a huge difference. He is alive, and I can talk with him directly, whilst Mary is long dead on earth, and is only a human, not capable of hearing me nor anyone else. It's very clear speaking to dead isn't permitted and is seen as awful in eyes of God. Deuteronomy 18:10-13 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who *calls up the dead. * 12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you. 13 You shall be blameless before the Lord your God.
@@ugandan216 You missed my point, which was that if you take your petitions straight to the source like OP said, you don’t need other people to pray for you. Also you might be confusing prayer with worship. When people pray to Mary they are asking for her prayers. Mary is alive with God, as Christian we believe and know she is alive not dead, that’s a huge difference. If you watch the video you will see that here is a biblical basis for people in heaven being able to know what is happening on earth. You’re wrong about the Bible verse also. The whole passage is making reference to paganism and magic and “Calls up the dead” is referring to necromancy which is when pagans try to literally resurrect dead people. Thats worlds apart from what people do when they pray to Mary. To suggest otherwise would be to bear false witness against your neighbour. Please stop making such slanderous accusations against Christians.
@@mrscream2028 I'm not wrong about the verse, and what Saul did in Book of Samuel 28 proves my point. Or are you trying to tell me speaking to dead people is allowed? She may be alive with God, but she is dead on earth! She, by her own words, needed a saviour herself! She cannot listen to prayers! Prayer is a type of worship, communication between you and God, not anyone else!
@@ugandan216 if you think that people who pray to Mary for her prayers are doing what we see in the book of Samuel and Deuteronomy then I don’t know what to say to you besides that when people tell you that they are not performing pagan magic and you keep insisting that they are, you are now bearing false witness against your neighbour.

Why make shipwreck of your faith ? I pray you'll come back to your senses for our faith is in christ alone for our salvation not in a man made religion 🙏
Unfortunately you skipped the 1Tim2:1, therefore let petitions and intercessions be made for all people etc.... so these petitions are given to Jesus , note that we don't ask Jesus to intercede for us or pray for us whereas we ask the saints on earth and in heaven to pray for us, can't you see the difference , or you close your mind because some truth is truth for the Catholic church ?
I also asked the Holy Spirit to open my eyes and heart to all truth in my prayers, and ever since then, I have been exposed to a growing amount of information concerning the saints and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The one thing I'd like to point out is that, while I agree with Sam's scriptural evidence that the saints receive or get knowledge of what occurs on Earth, I still do not see convincing scriptural support for calling on or praying to the saints or Mary for intercessions. My heart is open to the truth so May God give me revelation to show me the truth. Thank you Sam for this teaching.

I will show you in Old testament where God listens to prayers of Prophets and Holy people. Read Genesis chapter 20, especially verse 7 where God tells Abhimelech that Abraham will pray for you and you will live. Why did God not tell him you pray and will live? Because God hears prays of Prophets, saints and Holy persons. And Mary is Holy as we all know. Intercession is what we need because we are sinners.
1 Timothy 2 King James Version 2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
@@lisethsearle5457 Liseth, A Catholic apologist here. You're absolutely correct! Jesus is the only Mediator between God and man. So it's understood, I must also add that a Mediator is one who having the power, stands between two or more parties and whose function is to bring these parties into contact or nearer to each other resulting in unity or reconciliation. Such act can only be done by our Lord Jesus Christ before God The Father. Regarding intercession. In the Bible, an intercessor is someone who prays for help to another person; such is the case of the Virgin Mary and the saints who, being alive in God's glory, bring to our Lord Jesus their petitions for the benefit of those who ask for their intercession. May God bless your discernment.
the issue i have with asking the saints to pray for me is the fact that the bible says in 1 thessalonians 4:13-18 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. from what i understand this scripture is saying that everyone who has lived and now died are asleep and wont be awaken until God comes back for us. So how can we ask the saints to pray for us if they, like everyone else who has passed on are asleep? you can’t pray to someone who is sleeping
The concept here is that YHWH himself says he will not share worship with anyone else. Therefore Jesus and the apostles, including Mary, are below YHWH. The only way to the Father is Jesus; not the apostles or Mary, even if they worshipped in mass. We can pray for others, but where in Jesus’s prayer, did he mention praying to Mary or the Saints? Catholics have specific prayers for intercession and call her the Queen of Heaven, the same as old pagans used the same name. Remember, Jesus prayed to god. He didn’t pray to other past ones who were taken up to pray for him.

That’s fine if the Lord let’s them know someone asking for intercession but still it has to go through the Lord who is forever making intercession for us…
What we ask of the saints is to pray before the Lord (Jesus) for us. In the same way we ask our brothers and sisters here on earth to pray for us to the Lord our God. We are not bypassing Christ, this is a protestant misconception of how we ask for intercessory prayer. Mary or the saints are not the ones granting anything, they are asking God (the trinity) to hear our prayers.
@@blueboyblue7738 There is no guessing. This is what the church believed for 1500 years before Martin Luther corrupted teaching and removed books from the bible under his own "authority". This is the danger of protestantism, they all believe to know more than the Church fathers and the Church.
Prayer any prayer that goes through an intermediate brings honor to the intermediate and if people haven't read scripture well, our God is a Jealous God.

You mean God tells the saints in heaven to pray for people on earth because only He hears the prayers from people on earth and reveals them to the saints in heaven. And only God reveals things going on in heaven to men on earth.
@@tatie7604 We can see that only a few individuals immediately ascended to heaven, granted; but the major issue is that the bible describes the dead as inactive both in the old and the new testament, as "knowing nothing", and even describing them to having no emotion. Lets not forget that necromancy, the attempt to communicate with the dead, is forbidden in God's law, specifically found in Deuteronomy, and is punishable by death. The hebrew had a simple understanding that a spirit was a demon. Demons can manifest and shapeshift to anything they want (including dead relatives), to achieve deception. Witchcraft, divination, necromancy, conjuration, all against the law of God. So my question would be, on what rational basis do you have, to assume that God would encourage His people to contradict and transgress(sin) against His law and character? We need to be careful when we assume or even claim that God encourages sin, or even attempts to break His own laws.
@TheRussianPootis I assume nothing. In my comment, I sought to explain Sam's take on praying to the saints. I concluded that our prayers should be directed to the triune God but did not mention that the prayers should be in Jesus's name. Granted, my comment was neither clear nor was it thorough. How do you explain the points that Sam made directly referencing the Bible? Why do other saints hold the prayers of saints before God in Revelation? Are we ASSUMING that these prayers are the prayers of the soul's of the saints who are already in heaven? In any case, these saints are not without conscious thought. Explain, please. I appreciate your comments. Love in Christ Jesus to you.
@@tatie7604this is a long one, so bare with me dear brother, but those saints are indeed without consciousness? Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun. A description that entails the detail that: the dead do not know anything. They have no love, or emotions. That doesn't mean the soul is dead however, if indeed when we do die in the first death, then our soul and spirit of life returns to Christ until He returns us to our new bodies when we resurrect. John 3:13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. Another direct reference (but of course in the old testament we know a man was taken in a chariot of fire) but outside of that, you do not immediately go to heaven upon the first death. Ecclesiastes 12:7 And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. Proof that the spirit of life returns to God, but what about the soul? Mathew 9:24 He said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him Neither the soul is destroyed on the first death as well, but rather, as the Bible has said, they are asleep, knowing nothing. Dormant, in the ground. Is King David in heaven with God right now, conscious and aware? Let's find out what the Bible says: Acts 13:36 36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: Another description of inactivity within the soul(sleep), but never an active description activity of the soul there on after. You say Revelations says saints have prayers of other saints, but now knowing that the Bible has made it clear, that the dead are asleep, let's put revelation 1:1 in context, as it details how each prophetic vision is, in nature: 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: He SIGNIFIED the message. Now that we know that there are souls asleep in the name of Christ, this must mean that many saints have died in service of Christ, if indeed signification is synonymous with signs, then this is a sign of a future outcome of some form of religious persecution. Tell me, did some of the apostles have natural deaths or did some die protecting the faith? And because this is a message, a sign, then it is an analogy. Meaning it isn't literal. It's a conveying message of the future. It's also something John could understand in the present, seeing as he knew of the concepts of persecution. But none of this is a mystery if you look at the way it's been phrased. Nowhere does the reader in revelations, give set instructions within the Bible to take it literal. Quite the opposite. Revelations tell us these are signs. Now how does God feel about attempting to talk to the dead? Deuteronomy 18:10-13 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God 1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. Leviticus 19:31 “Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God. And what does God REALLY think about this sort of thing? Leviticus 20:27 “A man or a woman who is a medium or a necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them.” Leviticus 20:6 “If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people. Yeesh. It's plain as day, that we shouldn't even try to communicate with what isn't there, let alone venerate them. What do you think?

In the later citations, it appears that it is God's will to share certain information to those present to which they otherwise did not have access.

I have been in the Catholic Church my whole life and this was a question I had so thank you for this. I’ve been praying for an answer and this video popped up on my feed.
Sam is great but he is also a hypocrite on this one. Catholics ARE pagans. In Sam's debate videos with the Muslims, he said it himself, people who worship the black stone, kissing and all that stuff for REVERENCE and DEPENDING on it To Bring Them Closer To God which HE SAID they are MAKING A GOD OUT OF THAT STONE and how THEY ARE MAKING A GOD OUT OF MUHAMMAD for SAYING SALAAM and PRAYERS in their 5 time a day prayer. Whats the difference with catholics PRAYING to Mary, for REVERENCE, seeing her as a holy figure to ask her PRAY FOR YOU (DEPENDING on her prayers) TO BRING YOU CLOSER TO GOD or so SHE COULD HELP ASKING GOD favour for you? Isnt that litetally paganism from HIS OWN DEBATE to the muslims similar to what catholics do to mary and the saints? Make it make sense catholics, Sam is contradicting even yall own belief like- (I am a protestant, we dont pray Mary for reverence nor asking a favour depending on her prayers/help because thats literally PAGANISM is.)

Yes, that’s also my point, why do we have to pray to this saints who are also praying to God...Jesus said, no one come to my father except through me, so why pray to this saints if you can pray directly to him and he will answer all your prayers....I’m so confused 🤷♂️

Yes, Shamoun constantly and rudely talks down to the other man who has a lot more patience than I have. They are probably thousands of prayers a minute being addressed to Mary every minute from around the globe. To answer and respond to all of these would require Mary to be sharing in the omniscience of God.
Mary, as a created being cannot become omniscient as the Godhead is. Jesus never taught anyone to pray to His mother. The apostles including Paul did not preach Mary as a part of their gospel proclamation. Paul, in Galatians refers to her as "a woman under the law" That is the only reference to her in all of the NT Epistles. The cult of Mary came centuries after the end of the apostolic age. By the way, if Mary was immaculately conceived, she would not have been a woman under the law because she would be without sin and incapable of sinning. She would have been beyond the need for the law of Moses. Mary was undoubtedly the greatest of the women of the bible and the Virgin mother of Jesus and in a sense of the church. A great great woman but not a goddess or some sort of conduit to Jesus Christ.
I wonder why the authors of the NT didn’t mention to pray to Mary in their letters when she had already died before most of those letters were written?
@@ottom.3094 It is easily there for you because you have already accepted the Holy Catholic Church historic interpretation of the baptismal formula in Matthew 28 as a reference to the Holy Trinity. Other people see the same verse and don't see the trinity in it, hence making them unitarians.

So if the saints only hear prayers through what is revealed to them by the holy spirit, am I understanding correctly that the holy spirit hears the prayers first, then passes them along to the saints to then pray even more on behalf of those of us on earth, so that God may then hear the prayers?
I understood it as the Holy Spirit allows them to hear, not that that the Holy Spirit hears them first. Just as the Holy Spirit allowed the Apostles to be heard in different languages. It does say in the Bible that where there are two or three praying, I am among them. I forgot what verse, but I would think, the more praying for something, the better. Although, not all prayers are answered.
@violet's place yes it is lol. You guys don’t personally know Jesus, you’re following man made tradition. There’s a difference between knowing God personally and knowing a belief. The Spirit of God is God himself, as he will show you easily if you call upon the true God. And he never reveals this to anyone. It’s man made. People twist scriptures to come to these conclusions. It doesn’t come out of the mouth of God. Catholics twist scriptures and rely on lying visions/dreams to get their doctrines.
I’m a Protestant and I love your ministry Sam. I’m also from New Orleans a huge Catholic community s Louisiana. I love my Catholic brothers and sisters. You need to go into though where we are directed to pray like that. Because Jesus says when you pray pray like this, “ our Father” And to boldly come before the throne of grace. I don’t think Protestant are dogmatic about Saints not knowing earthly happenings.
@@philshongwe8835exactly, I'm a Protestant too, and I love our catholic brothers and sisters who are seeking the Truth in the Bible. Yet no matter how many times I read the Bible, I cannot come to the conclusion that we need Mary or the saints to intercede in our prayers to God. Jesus Christ Himself never told to pray to any saints or to Mary. We are all saints if we believe in Jesus Christ's sacrifice, and that He cleared our sins and paid the price for it. God is now our Father, so we can pray directly to Him. Only Jesus Christ, God the Son can intercede in our prayers. The curtain being into 2 from top to bottom when Christ died is a symbol that we no longer need any priest or human being to take our prayers to the Lord, because the price has been paid. Sam Shamoun has a vast knowledge in the Bible. But we should all follow what Jesus Christ has taught us, because He is the Author and perfector of our faith. Even the devil knows the Bible, but only the Holy Spirit can guide us to understand what is written in it. Pray and ask for His guidance and do what the Bible, the Word of God tells you to do

All I know is that when Jesus was asked to teach his disciples to pray he said to say Our Father who is in Heaven…. He didn’t say to pray to Moses or Abraham or any other saint and ask them to pray for us. So I’m going with what Jesus taught about how to pray.

God bless Sam for speaking the Truth when it’s not easy. Also God bless this man for seeking with an open heart for God’s Truth, instead of Protestant propaganda. Amen
Truth is in the Bible, and the roman catholic church does nothing that the Bible says. If you love Yahve you should seek His Will and do as He command, not what your priest or pope tell you.
God bless you brother that part about Abraham and how he told the guy in hell they have Moses and the prophets was amazing. I've read it many times and never realized that point of view. God is amazing
I can’t believe you think just because Abraham said “If they won’t listen to Moses and the profits….” That somehow connects a validation to pray to them. Every Jew knew that scripture speaks to them…it’s “the living Word” that’s what it means! It’s always alive and always speaking to us not some crazy off idea that we can pray to dead people. Idk where he got this from
@@thenarrowpath2731 hey Brother what about other pasages like God is not the God of the dead but of the living. Or we believers are all one in Christ. Or I am convinced that neither death can seperate us from the love of God. The bible says we are to pray for one another and encouraged intercession prayers for one another. I will always pray my rosary and I will always ask Mother Mary to pray for me. She is the woman mentioned in Genesis that God used to crush the devils head. She is the blessed Virgin who is full of grace as the Angel said when he came to give he the good news. She is the mother of God that convinced Jesus to do his first miracle when he didn't want to. She is the most obedient to God's will and the most humble of all Us Christians. She a beautiful Saint and praying the rosary has helped me grow even closer to my Lord Jesus Christ. In revelation 8 it says that Angels are in heaven offering up the prayers of the saints and the prayers go up before the Throne of God. In another part of revelation we get a clear vision John saw of the Ever Virgin Mary. He says he sees a vision in Heaven of a woman clothed with a Robe filled with stars and she is standing on the moon and she has a crown on her head. She gives birth to a man child that is to rule all nations. The child is taken up to heaven to sit on God's throne. Sounds like a clear description of the Virgin de Guadalupe miracle that sits in Mexico City right now brother. Praying the rosary is very powerful for Catholics. As a kid I only ever prayed it with family when there was a death in the family. Now I pray it daily. I have gained a much more deeper love for my King Jesus Christ. Now even when I take the Holy Eucharist I am in awww and totally humbled at the sacrament. My faith is growing and take the Eucharist with more reverence and humility. That it's the body of God and his Blood. Such a marvelous gift that the Almighty would do such a thing to save his people to manifest his word and show us the greatest love known to mankind. Jesus is master of the universe he controls it all. He established the Catholic Church and I follow all it's teachings with child like faith that the Holy spirit, through the Peter and the Apostles, knew what he was doing when he instruct men to set up these traditions that get passed down for generations to the rest of the body of Christ 🙏
@@thenarrowpath2731they're not dead. their physical body is dead, yes. but being alive for a child of God is not merely by physically living. Moses died thousands of years before Jesus, didn't he show up before Peter, James, and John when our Lord was being transfigured? This is what the Lord meant when He said that everyone who believes in Him will have their life even when they're dead. Our church fathers believed this. The first Christians believe this. Who do you think would know better than them when it comes to these things? Luther? Calvin? You wouldn't even know who wrote the gospels without our fathers, the same people who venerated the saints.
@@wouspor1804 Yes the dead are dead, western thinking has altered so much of Ancient Near East thinking. You say " but being alive for a child of God is not merely by physically living" show me the scriptures for that? The transfiguration setting was just a vision, Jesus says this in Matt 17:9 And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.” so no Moses and Elijah appeared in a vision (God can do things like this. You say:- "This is what the Lord meant when He said that everyone who believes in Him will have their life even when they're dead" this verse is not saying what you may be thinking, "25Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, 26and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die." all that Jesus is pointing out is that if anyone believes in Him as Lord and Saviour, though they die (physically) they will live again on the day of the resurrection. Verse 26 " 26And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” now this verse is never fully written or quoted in our bibles, the words eis ton aiona which means "to the age", is missing, I am still trying to find out why it's not written in most bibles. So if you believe in Christ, you will never die permanently, but that must mean if you don't believe, you will die permanently, this is not talking about spiritual death, that just isn't part of the equation, because in verse 25, Jesus is speaking about resurrection, and resurrection is only ever of the body. Just because the church fathers believed certain things, doesn't mean to say they had it right every time.
@@wouspor1804 Their bodies are dead PERIOD. Do I really need to clarify that the soul does not die? Every Christian knows this so you arguing some fallacious point about the saints not being dead to somehow justify praying to them is just bat crazy. Do you know how many times Jesus spoke about the dead? Ahhhhhh you can’t argue your silly point with the Lord now can you? Do you think Lazarus was laying in a cave awaiting for Jesus to……WAIT FOR IT……bring him back from THE DEAD👈 Did you catch that? They die on earth silly..:find substance in your case next time..Jesus is ALIVE
If you believe that Christians die.. you are not a true Christiaan. Resurrection of Christ means nothing to you. Christ died for us so that we may have life. Scripture says anyone who believes in me will be saved. first of all did you even listen to whole video? @alphabogeyman7462
It is delightful to discover that Sam has discovered and embraced the fulness of truth. He was always faithful to the light that he had, and now he has shared in Christ's passion in losing much that was good for the sake of preferring the greater good which is the fulness of God's gift in Christ.
@@mosesbaraka3355 Hi, Moses. I'm afraid that I'm having trouble understanding clearly your reply. In the first place, I am not intimately familiar with emojis, so whatever they were intended to contribute to the understanding of your meaning will be lost, misunderstood, or tentatively understood by me. The first suggests that you are thinking about what I wrote. The second suggests that you take some alarm at what I wrote. The third and last suggests some discouragement or disappointment about what I wrote. With reference to the text of your reply, what you have provided is a sentence fragment, followed by a call, which becomes repeated more emphatically, for agreement with your sentence fragment. The call for agreement, I am happy to tell you, can be answered in qualified manner in the affirmative, depending on the sense we make of your sentence fragment. So now we are able to turn to your sentence fragment. The sense that I make of your reply, tentative though it must be, is that you require, for your agreeing with my comment, that the fullness of truth to which Sam has come include Sam's understanding that Sam is not to engage in practices contrary to true religion as identified by God, such as the necromancy and/or idolatry that you associate with praying to a human person who is not alive on earth, whoever it might be, including the mother of Jesus. I'm going to assume for the remainder of my reply that this is the substance of your reply to me. We do agree, Moses, that the fullness of truth excludes practices contrary to true religion. We do agree that necromancy is contrary to true religion. We do agree that idolatry is contrary to true religion. The difficulty that I have lies in identifying why you consider your reply meaningful in the context of Sam's video and my post. The only reasonable interpretation that I'm able to identify is that you see either real risk or necessary transgression in Sam's identification of praying to the mother of Jesus. In order for me meaningfully to pursue the question whether of risk or of necessary transgression, I have a few choices, all with downsides. In the first place, I could give a summary discussion of the various difficulties and their correction. Since there are several particular difficulties and several elements in their correction, and there have been entire books written to answer the various difficulties, such a general discussion would necessarily be summary and so no more than suggestive rather than conclusive. In the second place, I could make a guess about what particular difficulty or difficulties you have, and try to answer them, but again in summary form and so suggestive rather than demonstrative, and possibly completely irrelevant to the particular difficulties that you have, Moses. In the third place, I could ask you what particular difficulties you have, so that we could engage those meaningfully. The problem with this approach is that RUclips comment sections don't typically or easily provide for meaningful sustained engagement, as opposed to sound bite zingers. Suffice it to say that Sam's video provides occasion for those with such difficulties to encounter the thought that such difficulties have both been encountered and overcome. Further pursuit is at your discretion, Moses.
A great analogy would be: Why do we ask others on Earth to pray FOR us personally when we're going through trials and tribulations? If God knows our own intentions in our own heart, isn't our own prayer enough? No! God loves when his children act as a community in prayer...for a person, for general safety, for World Peace... whatever. So, therefore, if we now know that the saints, angels, dead family members (who may be in heaven)....can not only see us but hear our voices when we speak out loud (notice I'm not including our thoughts)...then why WOULDN'T we want as many human souls and angels lifting up our requests as possible??? Of course we can, and should, pray directly to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! But, if we also feel a close connection to a particular saint or past family member...then why can't we include requests to them for us. We can thank them for inspiring us or helping us when they were alive. And we can ask them to intercede on our behalf.

You go beyond what scripture allows. Hail mary is simply a salutation of the angel greeting and acknowledging that he was there to speak with her. The greek word can also be translated as Greetings mary. The angel gave her no special position. Holy mary? Not so, any goodness and righteousness in her comes from God as her Saviour. Apart from Jesus she is evil as is any other human. Mother of God? No, mother of Jesus flesh, not His Divinity. Bro. I’m right there with you. I have no idea what these folks are talking about in the comments. Sam is good at exegesis and he has a lot of knowledge but he reminds me of Gino Jennings. How is that idolatry? Do you know what idolatry is? 1. Mary is not a god nor does she have deity. 2. This is not a prayer to Mary in the form of latreuo. 3. Idolatry is the worship/latreuo of a false god. Like the golden calf, baal etc etc. Mary is not a false god, or a real one for that matter.

The fish God of the Philistines. Take a closer look at the pectoral cross. It was Osiris that was always depicted with his arms crossed. Not Christ. But now we are back to square 1, because, if the witness of saints is an unequivocable truth found in scripture throughout - doesn't it sort of disproved the necessity to even pray to saints in the first place?! Example: When the rich man disregarded the poor man and Abraham recounted that event to the rich man during his time of distress - is that because the poor man prayed to Abraham? (unlikely) Or, is it because Abraham was able to respond to the man that cried out to Abraham because they're both dead but Abraham has been in heaven spectating both the rich man and poor man (btw, I just noticed there's 2 instances of dead people burning in hell crying out to "father Abraham". Thats odd). I guess my point is, we have these clear examples, prayers, rituals etc... because they're easily found and seen practiced in The Bible/scripture, WHY don't we see a SINGLE instance where someone cried out to a saint during this life, asking THEM to intercede on their behalf? Yet we see time and time again, people crying out to God... Praying to God... etc... And if these saints are watching us, maybe they're already praying for us (however, both dead guys we see examples of, the respondent - aka Abraham - basically telling them there's nothing he can do for them. lol). No way this is all we have to back this widely practiced ritual...
As you know, the Bible does not record every single practical examples, or terminologies, etc, but it gives principles that may have a wide range of application such as trinity, the canon of the 27 books of the new testament, etc. These can't be found strictly in the scripture verbatim but it can be inferred with the assistance of the Church tradition. This link will help answer some of your questions: practicalhelpwitheric.blogspot.com/
@@ericgatera7149 Did you read my questions, kind sir? What are your thoughts on what I said regarding the pointlessness of praying to someone that is already observing everything that's happening? What about my deduction of the two instances we have of a saint responding and basically saying tough luck. Not once did abraham help. And the instances where angels or saints are praying, they're literally giving glory and worship to God the entire time. They're not praying for you or me to have patience in your marriage BECAUSE we called on them bro... This is not even an inference relatable whatsoever to the compilation of the 27 books or the trinity. Its a ritual that we see absolutely zero concrete evidence that it was a normalized practice until Catholicism. I get your perspective. I do. I watched the entire video. Ill even like it for you. But please, how do you deal with the logical deductions someone that isn't (i mean this non offensively but can't find a better fitting word for it) brainwashed by the catholic church is presenting? Or is the best answer to this very logical counter-reasoning, that its normal to infer and create rituals of worship not explicitly found in scripture simply because of examples like the trinity and canonization of scripture combined with "well, the early church fathers did it"?

@@ericgatera7149 Okay, so idk if the author is you or not but I'm going to assume it is, correct me if I'm wrong. You did a great job explaining how we are all one body in Christ. Not separated by death as Paul was dropping the mic in the book of Romans in that verse. You did a great job explaining how we should pray for one another here on earth. All of which I support. You also defined prayer to remove subjective truths which I loved! But there is a clear struggle (in that article, in Sam's video and many others I keep seeing) to find Biblical examples that prayer to the dead (specifically) to make intercession *from heaven* for us, here on earth. I can see how someone's heart being in the correct posture towards God with good intentions would NOT be punished for doing such a thing (whereas before starting my search I can whole heartedly admit I had my doubts that such a thing could anger God and go against his will) BUT, I really wish you would take a minute to rethink the effectiveness that intercession of saints in heaven really has on you and your circumstances. I URGE you to instead, beg our Lord and savior Christ Yeshua for forgiveness daily. Literally put on the forgiveness that you want Christ to have for you when your time on this earth is no longer, and SHOW every living soul around you that forgiveness we SO desperately ask for. Thank the saints for their works. But every fiber in my body is telling me the literal most important thing in my life is to seek God, his truth, his understand, his wisdom and his mercy in everything I do. To live a life correcting my mistakes and terrible habits and lead as an example so that as many people as possible in MY lifetime will turn from sin and do the same! Honestly, this study was a distraction from that. and I'm ashamed of it... God bless you brother. You seem well educated, I hope that in itself doesn't become a vise that has you miss the entire purpose our Lord has created for you in this life - to love him, to love others and to love yourself. Because he chose you. And others deserve to feel that truth too. GB.
@@Blkswan911 Yes, I had read what you wrote before and subsequently. And since you raised multiple points, I suggested an article I wrote that touches many of the FAQ on the intercession of saints. As for the the explicit example in scriptures, I gave you two cornerstone doctrines, the trinity and 27 canonical books of the New Testament, which are widely accepted by Chtistians (not Catholic only) without a single explicitely mentioned about them in scripture. Consistency, coherence and intellectual honesty of our view expect then that not everything that is important in Christian doctrines or practices need an 'explicit' mention in scriptures. Biblical inferrence is also acceptable to deduce doctrines.
@@thelimatheou Paul urges Christians for prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, etc to be made FOR all people, not to dead saints. It takes a serious twisting of scripture to believe dead saints can hear our prayers and are capable of actually doing anything about it after hearing our petitions. Are saints omnipresent? Omnipotent? No, which is why we pray to God and not to someone who has passed on into the afterlife. It is idolatrous to pray to anyone other than the Lord himself.
@@thelimatheou you addressed none of my points. Clearly they are alive in Christ. But there is no scriptural support to state they can intercede for us.
@@shane316 You are free to disagree, but please don't be dishonest. I addressed your point directly. Are they a live in Christ or not? What does Hebrews say about them? I will agree that there is no explicit verse that tells ask those in heaven to intercede for us, but this is an argument from silence. Just as there's is no explicit verse telling us to prayer to, worship our glorify there Holy Spirit, yet we take Scripture as a whole and understand these things. There are explicit example's of those in heaven being aware of the plight of those on earth, of angels taking prayers before God, of believers interceding on each other's behalf, and of the faithful who have passed being alive in Christ. If you demand explicit verses for everything doctrine, then what would happen if I held you to the same standard?
I think what some people aren't realizing is that "pray" or "prayer" doesn't mean "worship". Here's an example: "Pray tell" which means to "please explain"; "I pray you let me pass" which means "I request you allow me to pass". This is more a misunderstanding of the English language. Etymologically, "prayer" comes from Proto-Indo-European "prek-", which means "to ask, entreat". Sam showed examples regarding how the saints in Heaven can know about the prayers (requests) of people on Earth. Even on Earth, we ask each other to pray for others. "Brother, please pray for me, so that my sickness passes." Now, if we combine both, we can see that we can ask the saints in Heaven to also pray for us. It's not a NECESSITY; however, it's something you have the option of doing. That being said, Jesus also mentions in Matthew 18:19-20 that there seems to be more power in the prayer of many (at least two). The implication then becomes that more people praying will bring a louder voice to God. The fact that the saints are already in Heaven which means they are completely pure and sinless means that their voices would be louder than ours. Remember, that this is all just logical implication, based on what was written in the Bible. Prayer is not worship. You'd have to use specific words in other languages to indicate that prayer is ONLY to the divine. Heck, if you look in even other languages, they understand that not all prayer is worship. 願い (negai) in Japanese can mean either prayer (as in to the divine) or a request or a wish. Just be open-minded and try to understand that language isn't always that rigid and that how we understand language today is different from how it was in the past. (Hence, why I hate the "devolution" of language.") So, because praying doesn't always equate to "asking to the divine", that means we can ask (read: pray to) the saints in Heaven to also pray (read: request the divine) to God for us or for others. Even if were to go to Etymonline, we can see that "prayer" only really means "request". Whether it is to the divine or not is up to who is making the request and to whom it is being directed. As a former Protestant, I viewed the intercession of the saints as idolatry, because I thought all prayer was only meant for the divine. However, now as a Catholic Christian with more knowledge under my belt, I understand that it isn't.
Agreed, just five days ago, I was under the impression that praying to Mary in the apostles was idolizing. that’s because my knowledge of the Bible was not sufficient then I found it in revelations and Corinthians. I now have changed directions on that because God is Omni presence everywhere so therefore, everyone in heaven automatically knows and sees what’s going on due to God, and with what I came to you on that conclusion after reading those passages was all the angels are ready to draw those swords and kill everybody on earth around Jesus Christ when he was on a crossed. How did they see that? God is omnipresent that’s how.

I agree, but cannot family members ask prayers for each other? I could simple go to Jesus, but if I ask His Mother to ask Her Son something on my behalf, is that offensive to Jesus? From the cross, our Lord gave His Mother to be the Mother of all of us. I can't ask my Mother for her prayers? Can I love Mary more than Jesus loves Her? Ask yourself this, Mary was alive in the Bible, so if they wanted her intercession, they would have just asked her for it in person. So think of that when you say why are there no prayers to Mary in the Bible. Also, in the Old Testament everyone who died went to Sheol, or various levels of hell. When Jesus came, that all changed and everyone went to either hell, or eternal life in heaven. Most Protestants quote Old Testament scripture out of context to try and prove their minority views on the saints or Marian intercession. The majority of living Christians now and throughout history have been either orthodox or Catholic. You don’t even see these Protestant views until 1,500 years after Christ’s death.
That’s a pretty bad argument. You can use that to argue ANY doctrine that, by your logic, wouldn’t apply if it “wouldn’t make sense that the apostles were alive”. Most of the apostles were dead by the time the Apostle John wrote Revelation and his epistles - and we still don’t have any evidence of prayers to the saints. And Protestants have a WAY more faithful view of Scripture because we ACTUALLY USE CONTEXT instead of Catholics who try to fit newer doctrines like Saint prayers, Mariology, and Icon veneration back into the text which would have never been identified inside of it otherwise.

It's "Magic" !!! we're NEVER INSTRUCTED to pray to "Saints" or "Blessed Virgins". We're to pray to Father God IN JESUS 'Name - PERIOD. Praying to "Saint So &So" doesn't increase the likelihood of getting what you want - even though the "Catholic religious system" claims that it will.
Jesus said that when two or more pray and agree, the Father gives them according to their faith. Jesus also says, what you pray for is given to you according to your faith. Who hasn’t prayed, and had a voice of doubt in their mind? That is not true faith, which is why most prayer fails. The saints, angels, and elders have no such lack of faith. So if I am in agreement with two or more saints in heaven, how much more valid is my prayer when the faith of many are in agreement?

@@newme1589 That would be both incorrect and not based on truth. The old men of God never prayed to the deceased, they never called on their ancestors to pray for them.. Israel never called on Abraham to pray for them. The thing is it would require power to hear the prayer from Earth to their place in the afterlife, they got to have omniscient powers to even hear all people on Earth at the same time, at any language. The saints mentioned in the NT were still alive, who prayed and also made intercessions, which prayers were then brought by the angels in bowls and presented to God. The heathens had such practice, I think even way back in Moses' time, remember the 10 plagues that seem to challenge every idols that were supposed to counter them according to their powers or specialties. The Maccabbean period adapted the practice, corrected by Jesus by teaching them how to pray, but then the people during the era of Constantine adapted the pagan practice of the Romans (for there were 'non-elect' that entered the church, as implied in the parable of the net). These practices were the 'yeast' in the bread, added teachings that Jesus warned about.
4 REASONS YOU SHOULD NOT PRAY TO MARY 1. THERE IS ONLY ONE MEDIATOR 1 Timothy 2:5 says, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity-the man Christ Jesus. This confirms we don’t need a “go-between.” We don’t need a middle-man (or woman) beyond Christ. When Jesus died, shed His blood, and was raised from the dead the need to have someone (e.g. high priest) represent us was ripped away just like the curtain that tore from top to bottom. 2. GOD ALONE SHOULD BE WORSHIPPED Luke 4:8 says, Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” Praying to Mary and/or any living or deceased saints is an act of worship…which is reserved for God alone. When Jesus modeled prayer (Matthew 6:7-13) He began with, “Our Father in Heaven.” No where in Scripture is it suggested that we pray to Mary or any other deceased saints. 3. MARY WORSHIPPED JESUS AS GOD In Acts 1 the disciples and about 120 believers were in an upper room waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit (at Jesus’ command). Guess who was present with them? Mary. What was she doing? Praying. Acts 1:14 says, They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus. It’s important to note that the apostles weren’t praying to Mary as a go between. She was joined with them in prayer…to GOD. 4. MARY WAS A SINNER IN NEED OF A SAVIOR According to Psalm 51:5 we are all born as sinners in need of a Savior, Mary included. Mary was highly favored, not sinless. There is not one scripture to support that Mary was without sin. JESUS is the only one who never sinned (2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 4:15, 1 Peter 2:22) which explains why Mary had to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Extras * The Bible is about JESUS, after all Jesus is the Living Word (John 1:14). The Old Testament points to JESUS. The New Testament is about Jesus. The authors of the four Gospels saw JESUS as the central figure and only mention Mary in reference to JESUS. The word “Jesus” is mentioned 1,478 times in the New Testament. The word “Mary” is only mentioned 55 times and some of those are in reference to Mary Magdalene. Also, Jesus is referenced in 26 of 27 New Testament books. * Mary can’t hear you. Only God can hear all of our prayers as He is the only one omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. * Mary was not even recognized in Scripture as a leader in the early Church. Peter is the one who stood up, addressed the crowd, and preached in Acts 1, not Mary. * JESUS is the only Way, Truth, and Life. No one can come to the Father, except through JESUS.
Saints in Rev 5 has a lower case 'c,' meaning general people. There is no reference in Scripture to dead people hearing prayers of the living, much less answering them. Tradition must be Scripturally based as the Catholic Church doesn't teach post-Biblical revelation.
Does mary have a computer to help her process all of these prayers? Even if she is aware of all of these prayers, unless she has some ability to alter time or do parallel processing herself, there is no way she could handle the volume herself.
@@kellystone7501 OK this is just silly. First of all, you are assuming that time works the same way in paradise as it does here. Second, do you acknowledge that the devil tempt each and every person? Is he also omniscient or omnipresent? Now you might just say that he does it through his demons, but where does it explicitly say that? Scripture specifically says that the devil is a roaring lion who Prowse around looking for people to devour, it doesn't say that the devil and his angels are like a pack of roaring Lions. So if a created being like Satan can somehow reach billions of people and influence them, and he is not omniscient or omnipresent, then how much more so the holy ones of God?

For me, all Sam established is that there's some biblical basis for the saints knowing what's up on Earth. Okay, cool. I don't really have a problem with that part. I just don't see any of that in the text and I'm really trying to wrap my head around how it isn't idolatrous. Look up the wordprophet this here is complete nonsense and won’t save anyone

Liseth,
A Catholic apologist here.
Saints are not dead.
They are alive in heaven given eternal life by God.

Ecclesiastes 9:5-6
For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; they have no further reward, and even the memory of them is forgotten.
6
Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun.
A description that entails the detail that: the dead do not know anything. They have no love, or emotions. That doesn't mean the soul is dead however, if indeed when we do die in the first death, then our soul and spirit of life returns to Christ until He returns us to our new bodies when we resurrect.
John 3:13
No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.
Another direct reference (but of course in the old testament we know a man was taken in a chariot of fire) but outside of that, you do not immediately go to heaven upon the first death.
Ecclesiastes 12:7
And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
Proof that the spirit of life returns to God, but what about the soul?
Mathew 9:24
He said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him
Neither the soul is destroyed on the first death as well, but rather, as the Bible has said, they are asleep, knowing nothing. Dormant, in the ground. Is King David in heaven with God right now, conscious and aware? Let's find out what the Bible says:
Acts 13:36
36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
Another description of inactivity within the soul(sleep), but never an active description activity of the soul there on after.
You say Revelations says saints have prayers of other saints, but now knowing that the Bible has made it clear, that the dead are asleep, let's put revelation 1:1 in context, as it details how each prophetic vision is, in nature:
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
He SIGNIFIED the message.
Deuteronomy 18:10-13
There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God
1 John 4:1
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Leviticus 19:31
“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.
And what does God REALLY think about this sort of thing?
Leviticus 20:27
“A man or a woman who is a medium or a necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them.”
Leviticus 20:6
“If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.
Yeesh. It's plain as day, that we shouldn't even try to communicate with what isn't there, let alone venerate them. What do you think?

The "Rosary" is of pagan origin. There is no warrant in the Word of God for the use of the "sign of the cross". It had its origin in the mystic "Tau" of the Chaldeans and Egyptians. It came from the letter "T," the initial name of Tammuz. It was used in the "Babylonian Mysteries" for the same magic purposes as the Roman Church now employs it.

On our Ethiopian Orthodox holy bible says that 'Judges us' not 'intercede for us' I didn't know at first this kinds of changes occurred in the bible and thought all Christians read the same holy bible the word of God so I used to read the KJV and came to this Romans 8:34 and had a headache for several days trying to understand what it means how can God intercede for us,who does He Jesus Christ of Nazareth our God intercede to I really had a headache and lost sleep for sometime before some God sent brother showed me the difference between the two books,I was relieved when I knew the truth and praised God for giving me the answer to my headache *No Jesus Christ is not our intercessor but our God and our Judge.*

Maybe you didn't understand Sam shamoun but let me explain From different context: Saints are Not dead my brother, according to Lord Jesus Christ himself " if you know me and you're dead you'll come back Alive, and if you know me and you're alive you'll never die, those called Saints are Not saints if they didn't truly know Him. And This is Why we know they'll intercede because they're with JESUS CHRIST as HE himself Said....
I guarantee you, your spirit is not part of the Holy Spirit
I agree with you @edwardsimbosamura9387
What verses in the bible say that saints are not qualified to pray for us here on earth? It's just your opinion. Say for instance you die and you are saved in heaven, would you not think of your loved ones here on earth and pray for them so that they may be saved as well? Aren't you any better than the rich man who asked father Abraham to send Lazarus and warn his brothers on earth lest they be damned also? Think about it bro.
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
For we have not an hogh priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Let us Therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
We can go directly to God through Christ. He even tells us how to pray, and He doesn't mention Mary or any saints. In fact it says that we are saints.
Praise the Lord....May the Lord continue to lighten up His word in all of us so that we may not be deceived. Halleluya!!
You really believe these authors of the gospel could see everything clearly? They were human. Some of the things they wrote were pointers and not necessarily the whole package. Enoch existed before the bible was written. How did he know so much about God. God is able to give directions outside the scope of the bible as long as Christ is affirmed in the direction.

As the very word of God, Scripture comes with the authority and sufficiency of God, and therefore Scripture is not subject to the interpretation of any man or body, but rather Scripture interprets itself.
----But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." (Jn. 14:26)
That is the authority.
----It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. (John 6:45, 1984 NIV)
-----Jesus is actually the head of the earthly church and those who have fully accepted Him are led by Him.
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26, 1984 NIV)
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:24-25, 1984 NIV)
----*Interpret these:
Matt 27:62, 28:1, Mark 15:42, 16:1-2, Luke 23:54, 56, 24:1, John 19:31, 42, 20:1.
And this: Acts 10:11-16, Rev 1:10, 7:14, 9:4, 9:15, 12:17, 13:5-8, 13:11-12, 13:16-17, 17:1-2, 17:5-15, 18:1-16, 18:24, 19:10,.

Yeah amazingly obese. 98% body fat. Gelenatous😂
I gained great insight from this conversation! Thank you Lord and I do have a new found understanding of this odd (to a normal non-denominational Christian) Catholic practice!
HOWEVER, not ONCE (and I mean this with every ounce of love and sincerity towards Sam) did any of these verses show 1. that prayer to saints was encouraged or 2. a practice of ANY canonical biblical figure by and large. Not by the OT prophets, the NT disciples, Paul OR any of his apostles and church groups.
What I DID learn with VERY concrete evidence is that we are being observed by ALL saints in heaven. And that's, well, simply incredible. And heavy. And mind blowing. SO, thank you for that!!

Brilliantly explained again Sam, keep on keepin on, peace.
Sam has strayed from the truth and is mixing up the Saints. We believer are the saints on earth.
@@seanrathmakedisciples1508 🤣🤣 what desperation looks like
I think what some people aren't realizing is that "pray" or "prayer" doesn't mean "worship".
"Brother, please pray for me, so that my sickness passes."
Now, if we combine both, we can see that we can ask the saints in Heaven to also pray for us.
(Hence, why I hate the "devolution" of language.")
So, because praying doesn't always equate to "asking to the divine", that means we can ask (read: pray to) the saints in Heaven to also pray (read: request the divine) to God for us or for others.
Agreed 100%

Thank you ❤
That’s a pretty bad argument.

The Maccabbean period adapted the practice, corrected by Jesus by teaching them how to pray, but then the people during the era of Constantine adapted the pagan practice of the Romans (for there were 'non-elect' that entered the church, as implied in the parable of the net). These practices were the 'yeast' in the bread, added teachings that Jesus warned about.
Just because it isn't in the bible does not mean it isn't Christian.
4 REASONS YOU SHOULD NOT PRAY TO MARY
1. THERE IS ONLY ONE MEDIATOR
1 Timothy 2:5 says, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity-the man Christ Jesus.
This confirms we don’t need a “go-between.” We don’t need a middle-man (or woman) beyond Christ.
When Jesus died, shed His blood, and was raised from the dead the need to have someone (e.g. high priest) represent us was ripped away just like the curtain that tore from top to bottom.
2. GOD ALONE SHOULD BE WORSHIPPED
Luke 4:8 says, Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
Praying to Mary and/or any living or deceased saints is an act of worship…which is reserved for God alone.
When Jesus modeled prayer (Matthew 6:7-13) He began with, “Our Father in Heaven.” No where in Scripture is it suggested that we pray to Mary or any other deceased saints.
3. MARY WORSHIPPED JESUS AS GOD
In Acts 1 the disciples and about 120 believers were in an upper room waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit (at Jesus’ command).
4. MARY WAS A SINNER IN NEED OF A SAVIOR
According to Psalm 51:5 we are all born as sinners in need of a Savior, Mary included.
Extras
* The Bible is about JESUS, after all Jesus is the Living Word (John 1:14).
If ur so confident these terrible arguments work, call Sam shamoun and let's see how well you do.
@ArizonaSusan Yes you 👍 Only Jesus is our High Priest, who always prays for us.
This is simple. She pray to the Lord to answer all the prayers that people say to her.
@@steffann1177 how many prayers would you estimate she can process in an hour?

OK this is just silly.
@@sakogekchyan7366 Yes, it is silly. People write stories all the time. Many are fictional and do not describe things that exist in the real world. No, the devil does not tempt everyone, and Mary does not intercede for anyone. These are myths.
@@kellystone7501your comment on "how many prayers would you estimate she can process in an hour" is hilarious.
I love Sam’s bully strategy 🤦🏽♂️
Theosis man; we become by grace what Christ is by nature. We have a great cloud of witnesses. Wherever the Lord is, His Holy Ones are.
Very well done by both of the gentleman. I’ve never heard it quite like this before and I’m glad that people can come together and learn to understand each other without screaming their à la Akbar and killing each other. We are Christians here we love each other.
That's not what I saw. Sam seemed like an arrogant asshole to me.
We have Angels for messaging. They are not even in every church service, they are everywhere.
❤
Angels are saints too.
Grace and Truth, Sam.
All his life Sam has been able to do one thing. Debate. He has effectually debated himself to spiritual death. He doesnt debate others, he debates and discredits himself, his arrogance is evidence of that. So far fallen that he has found a way to justify false doctrines.
All believers are sanctified by the blood of Jesus. And only God knows who is truly saved. Therefore, why would we pray to the dead to intercede for us? And why go to someone else when we can go directly to God?
I thank God for my Catholic faith and pray all Christians can share in the Lords Church.
