Yukon has an insanely forceful vertical loop. It’s flies through the first half and that first drop lasts forever. 10/10 dive.
Oblivion is a great ride in my opinion, yes it may be short but it’s sweet, and it was a prototype so what do you expect.
The fact it's a prototype doesn't make it any better
@@orionscythe I think what he's saying is that since Oblivion was a prototype dive coaster, the short length makes sense. They were mainly using is as a way to test the 90 degree drop, rather than making a full-length coaster with inversions and splash downs and things like that.
It has one of the best drops on dive coaster though

My home park is Fiesta Texas, and when Dr Diabolical's Cliffhanger was announced I was a little bit disappointed that it wasn't a hyper dive coaster like Sheikra or Griffon, but I ended up loving the drop and really appreciated the theming elements that were added! I just rode Sheikra a couple days ago as my second dive coaster, and I was actually surprised by how much more I enjoy Cliffhanger! The height difference was less noticeable to me due to Cliffhanger's beyond vertical drop (which is really fun), and I think I enjoy the overall ride experience more with the theming. Sheikra was still awesome, though!

As me not having been to Canada's Wonderland, I can confidenly say my favourite dive coaster is either Baron 1898 or Valkyria, close tie.

Great list - as a Toronto native, who frequented Wonderland weekly in the summers during my youth (this is Canada, so we only get about 1/2 a year of the park), I am disappointed in myself for not visiting since this opened in 2019 - although, we were notably shut down as a city/country for the better part of two years - that said, this will be ridden as soon as we open for '24 season, as well as my first first over to Cedar Point, Darien Lake (have to check if that's even worth a visit), and definitely going to keep my eyes and ears to ground when it comes to a rumoured coaster coming in 2025... they have already started some work on our mountain structure, and early reports suggest a possible B&M wing coaster, and as much as I love. B&M, I would love to see us get into the age Intamin...,I mean it doesn't have. to be Velocicoaster but the possibilities are endless aren't they (please remove Vekoma SLC ASAP!)...
I do agree flight deck is an absolute banger (for your ears) but I will admit I still kinda like it as a ride. Fix up the restraints and maybe smooth out the track and it's a great ride imo. Obviously that's never gonna happen because who would ride it even then. But if I'm being real, time warp is the real stinker. Not horrible tbh, but it's past the novelty of the flying coaster vibe which it kinda fails at achieving. Also yeah intamin makes some sick rides overall, I honestly don't mind any new rides as long as they're sick.
Valkyria might be the most underrated coaster I’ve been on. It’s surprisingly intense and has ejector airtime outside of the drop

Yeah not sure about the valravn one, I haven't ridden it either but I'll definitely get the chance this summer so I'll be able to compare it to Yukon striker. Sadly I missed out on griffon since I was too young and scared at the time.

It is and that drop and it is very good.
Its maybe the most forceful element in the park (tie with nemesis’s helix)
Being 30 meters beneath the ground and doing 110km in the tunnel really heightens the sensation of forces
yukon striker is one of the best rollercoasters ive ever been on. I still prefer leviathan or behemoth at canadas wonderland but i can see why yukon is the top dive coaster in the world.

1:59 Just rode it around 3 hours ago and it gives one of the best and smoothest airtime ever. Honestly this and Oblivion: The Black Hole both give amazing airtime compared to other dive coasters I've rode (Valkyria, Baron 1898, etc.)

I’ve only been on Baron 1898. To me, it feels like it’d be the best. The best for me, at least. Just because I do really value the overall experience so much. And even before I dared to ride it, it is just absolute eye candy off ride. The giant cogs seemingly pulling the train up. The bell when, that creaking sound and the cogs standing still when the train crests the hill. The bell ringing and the cogs going the other way in an out of control fashion… The misty Witte Wieven tunnel with eerie singing. And just the ride music in general, composed in house by René Merkelbach. Adds so much. To me, most other dive coasters just look bland when Efteling theming is what you’re used to. Most of them do look more intense. Baron 1898 is the slowest and shortest (in height) but the zero g roll and the helix hit pretty well, so it’s not just the drop that completely carries the ride.

I sometimes feel like dive coasters do too much after the drop.
Yeah they're good but I'd rather have a short but good layout like oblivion. Maybe a bit longer like Krake but I'd take it over something like valraven because it does so much that the drop almost becomes a bit irrelevant in a way. The layout it is good but yeah.
Also oblivion is the most iconic dive coaster, and not just because its the first

I love Baron 1898 as it delivers the fully themed package I do love on my rides. Definitely a more toned down thrill compared to the others, being the shortest in height and the slowest, but the drop still delivers that gut punch. Efteling doesn’t mean to offer the biggest thrill rides anyway. With the theming and preshows and such, Baron does a lot before the drop. And the thematic elements exaggerate and accentuate the drop on and off ride.
