Hi Ken. FYI, Indonesian people love to laugh. A lot. Especially if they are embarrassed or shy. It can make a person feel uncomfortable when there is a language barrier, but please don't take it personally. It's just part of the culture.

3:48 ᮘᮔ᮪ᮓᮥᮀ is how “Bandung” is written in the local Sundanese script. Sundanese is the language spoken in the provinces of Banten and West Java, of which Bandung is the capital of. You will see the Sundanese script on street names and several government buildings.
And Sundanese is NOT a dialect of Indonesian, they are two separate languages. “Thank you” is “terima kasih” in Indonesian and “hatur nuhun” in Indonesian, very different. Sundanese has its own dialects, with various levels of intelligibility.

In the East, black clothes are worn when attending funerals. Wearing black during happy events is taboo. I didn’t expect it to be normal in Malaysia!
The fruit you eat is called Wax-apple. You have to cut off the top and bottom before eating it, but the vendor didn't cut it for you!

Fyi ken, sunda is a standalone language (not a dialect) from West Java. In sunda, there are many dialects (sunda priyangan, sunda bogor, etc). Funfact, many said sundanese sound similar to korean lol. But in terms of script, words, etc totally different from korea language.
Let me tell u a quick cheat in sunda, say "punten" whenever you want to enter a shop and say "mangga" when u wanna leave. I'm sure they will be surprised lol. Don't worry, it's just an excuse word to be more polite

Sundanese is a language of its own,not a dialect. since you already learned "hatur nuhun"= thank you and "sami-sami" = you're welcome.
here's a some other helpful sentences you can use if you plan to spend more time in Bandung and West Java in general: "punten,Sabaraha pangaosna?"= excuse me, how much is the price?.
    sarebu=1000
    dua rebu=2000
tilu rebu = 3000. opat for four, lima for five, genep for six, tujuh for seven, dalapan for eight, salapan for nine. belas for the teen as in lima belas=fifteen. you already knew puluh and ratus,we use that too in sundanese.
"Kumaha damang?" = how are you?. the common answer to that are either alhamdulilah, sae or damang. the most common greeting and polite enough to be use to stranger, regardless of age.
"nuju ngadamel naon?" = what are you making?/what are you cooking?.
    and last but not least
"raos"= taste good or enak. 😆

even the white shirt guy think it was roman/greek script because he doesnt know.
the big 3 letter is BA, NA and DA, and with small modifier (the small thing around it) it can be read as "BANDUNG".

Minutes 25, the small carpet is actually floor mat. We put in front of the door, so we clean our feet on it before entering the house. Or, we put it in front of bathroom, so we can dry our feet when we came out from the bathroom or toilet

I would say you got a lot of Point of Interest in Bandung just for two days, but that doormat guy gave you a quite high price for a door mat. And that sweet candy is called Dodol, originally from Garut City. You should try brand "Picnic" for more varied flavours
