The problem with is not the cast. It's the times. People expect too much, compare too much, or really exoect it be as great as the other. I mean, it eons tons of Emmy's. Everybody knew this couldn't compete with that. I truly love the character of Frasier and don't care about the differences. This reflects life. That's what people don't get. Life shifts. People will see that reflected in the show, material and characters.

I totally agree with you! The difference between the original one and the reboot just reflects the change of era, and that's fine. People like me were attracted by the values then, will still be attracted by its value now.

When IMDB used to have discussion pages someone was saying in real time Freddy must be a doctor now yet in this he drops out of Harvard to become a firefighter. So it's mimicking the blue collar/intellectual divide between Frasier and his Dad.

I dont think there is any shows that still get tons of emmy , nor do i feel am emmy is as prestigious as it was.
But the show stayed true to itself and its still the same vein of comedy. Why is it supposed to be as good? And did we know frasier or cheers was going to be great just 2 or 3 episodes in?
The problem is the times, in a different way. When frasier aired, people watched tv to watch tv and enjoy it. Now its like wrestling with all the "smart marks" they think they're exects ,they think their opinion is special or important and they want to criticize lighting, sound and writing like they ever created anything in their life, aside from mayhe a child that they ignore.
I use the internet, i like YT,hell im commenting right now. But i miss when people wrote lettersx bc when you have to buy a stamp and mail something , it has to be a serious complaint to justify your time. But now its so easy to complain that so many ppl exclusively complain all day about everything, and we see it.

I think the actor is good. I think it's just the writing, the casting, the group around him. Perhaps in time, see how it goes. But yeah... it has the pitfalls of this new garbage. Everything has to be so so-called multicultural, so you have the younger black woman with the British professor, and his son with a foreign girl, and everyone is wacky hehehe lol. It just seems like a hodgepodge and mixup of different wacky scripted characters. The original made sense. The original characters seemed like they could be real people out there. He has his father move in with him. His father provides contrast and is relatable for the comedy. His brother lives in Seattle too, etc. And his brother seems like someone real. It makes sense. In this new one, it's just a group of strangers, that don't seem very realistic. First impression this is sad. Can't believe how time goes either and how old everyone gets so quickly.

Exactly what I was thinking too. This forced "diversity" ruins shows. The first show was believable with Niles, who was his brother, and his dad, and the cleaning lady who Niles falls for, and Ross the producer. But now what is this? A professor who is some wacky caricature, and a younger black lady with him, and then his son who is another wacky caricature and his foreign gf, and then the wacky son... it doesn't come across very realistic and it feels all mismatched and is too forced. Heaven forbid there is a couple that is white female white male, can't have that

Mixed race couples exist in this world. Esp at this day and age and always have. For whatever reason it triggers you, it’s yours to deal with. The show is great, it couldn’t get all its characters back arguably because of the problematic character that Grammer is in real life, but it’s done a good job capturing the essence of the original. An old friend and a dept academic who jab at each other exactly the way Niles and Ross used to, David who as a first time actor doing an amazing job at capturing and being the son of Niles Crane, Martin being epitomized as Freddy, and in general the lighting, setting and all of it trying to pay homage to the years of run of Frasier. Your opinion is yours, but your annoyance at not seeing white couple is just blatantly unreasonable and you’ve got some work to do. Niles and Daphne are a white couple and you got a decade of that. Not to mention, the actress playing Eve is half white. Can’t please any underlying discomfort of viewers if they’re showing up to complain with their own biases.

Writers/producers have to try to ground a show in reality. The 1990s-2004 show was. His dad was a cop, had a down to earth regular guy personality, which contrasted well for comedy with his two psychiatrist elitist type sons, but both Fraser and Niles had believable personalities, could be real people. Ross who was rough around the edges, a real girl out there, and Daphne too. And it made sense he is with his family, and has his dad move in with him, and his brother is in the city.
But this new one, it's just like the characters around him are trying to be wacky, and don't really fit. Like caricatures, but characters I can't really imagine in real life. It doesn't seem realistic enough. And what's with all this forced so-called multiculturalism. It's just trying to force all these pieces into the puzzle, and it just doesn't come across as real as the original show. Of course, give it time, but so far it's sad to see. And sad how people age so quickly too :(

Just too many people gabbling in a small room from the start and based on old characters but then little like them.
