I have a 16 year old son hanging out with the wrong kids. One friend I have been told is known as a druggie. When we take things away from our son, he punches holes in the wall. We have him fix the holes every time. These teenage years are a nightmare. He went from a responsible and loving kid to a monster.

I'm struggling with how to just be there for my teens. I've always been a fixer, people would always come to me for advice. Now I'm the one needing advice and dont feel very supported. I've gone through a lot if what my teens are, things especially hard with quarantine. How can I just be there and support then when they are feeling depressed and anxious? My go to is, hey let's do this to distract you or try that and see if it helps. It was so much easier when they were little, they fall & scrape a knee and I would clean it, put a band aid on, give it a kiss and they were good to go! That doesn't cut it anymore and I feel helpless as a parent.

Teenaged years are hard as is but with this stupid quarantine, going from being homeschooled to public school and then being public schooled at home (my youngest), to not being able to have senior prom, graduation (my oldest), etc...its even harder! I'm learning I have to cheer myself on first before I can cheer everyone else on and that it isnt always up to me to fix everything, they need to learn to be part of the solution as well. A very important growing and learning time for both the parents and kids. Thanks again!

Pray for your kids' salvation and spiritual maturity every day. God can change anyone. Let me tell you that one day I layed my hand on my spouse's shoulder and said to him, "Be born again in the name of Jesus." And he has been changed by God's grace ever since. He is so much more positive now. So much less angry.
I know people who've been changed through water baptism in Jesus' name. I heard it's the ight way to baptize not in the name of the father , son and holy spirit.
I know someone he was changed in the midst of his despair and anger filled life because he uttered a prayer , "God save me." God changed him that very moment. He's a new person to this day, full of peace and joy of the Lord, not too angry and bound in addiction anymore.

My partner and I have been together for 3 years. He has a daughter who’s living with us for almost 2 years now. She was ok and tolerable during the first months but recently she is really out of control, she talks back a lot and lies most of the time. She likes to point fingers just to excuse herself from trouble. She asks for favors and when we are not able to provide what she expects us to provide for her, she becomes grumpy and hates every person in the house including his dad my mom and my nephew. She is mostly ungrateful when we think we do every thing for her. She does nothing in the house but to study. She reflects herself a nice daughter and student at school, follows teachers’ orders religiously, and she acts nicely when people are around. But she is totally different around us family members. Btw, his dad and I are not yet married, and i feel like this situation with her is kind of destroying the family that her dad and I are trying to build. I dont know what to do with her. Her dad gets upset as well as to why she behaves this way. She isnt honest and points people around her as the bad one even when she is confronted nicely.😢

Always focus on your actions and your child's best interest. Also, see if you can hold a family meeting to discuss and make clear everyone's responsibilities - keep it positive! Wonderful
Just did this with my friends daughter whom I agreed to assist to take her to her (13 yr old) to her chosen sport of soccer game
Texted her to set up and agreed upon time ( she takes no responsibility for her actions )
Now her idea is when she gets up.
11.00 A.M is the schedules time to be present. So when she FEELS LIKE getting UP or rolls out of bed . Probably half asleep at 10 of 11
She did this 1 other time and I was tooting my horn ( I omitted bringing mh cell phone)
No answer..calling her ..finally she strolls to the window and said she was 😴 sleeping !!
So this time I told her I am here to give her a ride..
      I will be there at 10:00 A.M.
so then the dallying starts . Games
      Soccer starts at 11 A.M
I said I know but good habits Starr now
I said, I will be at your house at 10:15 A.M
Please be on your front porch waiting .
      Do we agree ..
She said " If I can"
I said, no ..that simply means you are not serious
If I can is not acceptable
      Do we agree ____?
      she said, Yes
I go to pick her up, she is not outside on the porch..
I will not chase after thus child
To be fair I waited 10 minutes
      Honked my Horn ..
      Then I left..
Now she has had working parents..Father does not respect Mother's discipline..he has given her everything she wants and over rules Mother's ..Mom lacks good communication skills. and poor limit setting on others as well..
So she wakes up..I went to do my food shopping..
I knew what belonged to me..I will not chase after her..I am holding her
      accountable to the agreement ..
I left..she had trouble with it..
She called to say " she was so sorry "
      Would I come back..
I said, I live you and forgive you.. for not keeping the agreement
However, I will not be coming back
this is her 1st lesson that she cannot manipulate me with her sorry ..
      This she does..
She has a distorted view of love ❤️ and accountability is nilly
I made certain she knows I love her still
But without words her behavior is not acceptable ..
I made certain she knows it is her choices ..we do not arise at last minute to a Freely Chosen activity..
I know I shocked her into a new place
      Her soccer ends this Saturday
      She has a Tuesday Practice
I am hopeful ☺️ she has learned if she is not on the porch I will not wait
It is not too late but Mom and Dad need counseling for their marriage issue and child issues
I hope I can be a positive influence
I give her big hugs and she soaks them up ..
      God Bless All

Yes, but how to be in control of a person who is screaming, yelling at you all the time? We give her a lot of freedom and still she is not happy. She uses a very vulgar language It's impossible to seat and talk with her. Lately she told me " honestly l don't give a f...anymore".
She used to be a helpful person around the house now seems like she forgot how to even put her own dishes in to the dishwasher. And if anybody mentions that she becomes angry and verbally abuses them. And then she shuts herself down and won't talk to any of us for weeks. She is not a teen anymore just turn 20 few days ago. She was a relatively good teen until she turned 18. And now there is a boyfriend and I've noticed that they talk to each other in a very rude and disrespectful way. She is a full time student and works few hours a week so is still very dependent on us but both my husband and I are thinking about cutting our help. We figured if she feels like she is a grownup it's time for her to act like one. Get a real job, pay her own tuition, phone and maybe even an apartment. OMG it's so hard. I don't know what to do anymore. Good thing that I still give a f.... Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

If this behavior is a drastic change from her previous personality, she may need some help, there is something going on. In the meantime, if she wants to live under your roof, the rules are respect people and the house. There won't be any abusive or vulgar language. If she wants to talk like that, get her own place, Viki N.

When I set boundaries like not driving him or set other appropriate boundaries that are r3commended in this video, his other parent makes allegations of abuse in court and convinces the child that I’m abusive and that they should leave me and never see me. I've had to rescue my daughter from his choke hold, when she was unconscious. He also chokes his older sister and younger brother, as he sees fit. He also likes to punch and kick in the back. I have watch several of your videos. My 14 year old son going through tough time. My wife and I made the decision to send him to private school (daughter too). We didn’t like what’s going on in public HS and decided that it would be best for them to go private. It’s a Christian school with the values that we share….not secular school. I knew that changing schools in tough and my son hated the decision because his friends are in public HS. He feels embarrassed about going private and finds school boring, kids are not funny, kids sucks, teachers sucks, every thing about private Christian school sucks. Public HS is better, more things going on and more weird people and more GIRLS. This is causing rebellious kid at home and school. Already presented my case PHS vs private. Did not work, he is missing out the bus ride and the lunch with friends and GIRLS. Don’t want to make friends at new school because they suck and any girl that like him get shot down.
Not respecting our the decision which was carefully made. Told him that we understand he doesn’t like it, but we as parents have the last word. Funny thing is, he seems his friends after school and weekend, on the phone and video chat. They hang out at the gym and weekends. It’s coming down to loosing phone and video games if disrespectful attitude at home and school continue. Any advise?

I don't know how long the change occurred so it may take some time, a year or more. He is trying to wait you out and so you need to be patient and have rules, follow through and let him know that you will love him no matter what and even if...

I asked myself..where is my sweet boy…it has crossed my mind to give in and send him Public HS just to stop the arguments and see him smile again. He said I ruined his life and how unhappy he is thanks to me. But, I know he is 14 and we made the decision because we love him.
Sometimes I just want to say…like is rough and sometimes you don’t get what you want or you are not happy because you are the one that can make yourself happy, so change your attitude or be unhappy….but I don’t think I should say that even though I know is true.
He has everything, but he is not getting one thing and all the sudden his life is miserable….that is how I know he is an immature 14 brat. He said he is out by 18…made me smile…just wait until you are in the real world.
If he only knew that my job is to prepare him for that day and going to a good school is priority.

I don't know how to help my son. He made friends with kids in our neighborhood who got him involved in alcohol and drugs when he was about 13. We sold our house and moved to get him out of that environment as well as her other kids. He just made more friends like that in the new place. And things got worse. We would try to take away his phone but he would just get another one from his friends. We would try to ground him and he would disobey and leave the house anyway. He was constantly skipping school and eventually got suspended for the remainder of the school year because he was high at school. He failed to meet the requirements. The principal gave him in order to return to in person school and didn't care. Things got so bad that we were having to kick him out of the house because we couldn't do anything else to wake him up. He eventually started seeing that his friends would enable him and support his not going home. Thanks. Got worse. We had to move again and he didn't think that he needed to come with us. So we left him behind. He contacted us and wanted to join us and I had to pay for a plane ticket for him to do so and yet his attitude has still not changed. We are lost and he is influencing his siblings to be like him.

I have a question regarding my 13 year old daughter. She is more often than not disrespectful, rude, bossy, and demanding. When I ask her what’s going on she says she’s angry at me for not spending enough time with her. Meanwhile I would be totally happy to spend more time with her, but who wants to hang out with someone who is throwing anger at them? She says she wouldn’t be so mean if I would spend time with her, and I say I would spend more time with her if she wasn’t so mean to me. So how to resolve this? Trying to talk it through in the moment when she’s upset doesn’t work. I told her we would schedule a weekly mother/daughter time for just the 2 of us to do something fun. But she wants me to be her playmate, and I’m not - I am her mom. I can’t relate to her the same way her girlfriends relate to her. And I have boring mom things to do like grocery shopping etc. She isn’t very understanding about what I need to do - she wants what she wants and if I can’t do it in the moment she’s mad. Any advice?

      @LiveOnPurposeTV  5 лет назад +11

Erica Mary Johnson, it really sounds as though she is testing the boundaries you have and seeing how much control she can exert over you by playing up your emotions, guilt, etc. Instead of planning something big, try to take smaller chunks of time and share a laugh, show her a funny meme you just found or find an interest of hers that you can get involved in. It might be cooking, gardening, sewing, crafting, beading, listening to music. Ignore as much as you can and it is o.k. to walk away if she is belligerent and let her know you will return when she is kind.

Hello, I've found this channel a couple of weeks ago, but now I have a question. How to motivate a grown up to appreciate themselves and manifest their greatness if they grew up in a household, where they weren't appreciated and always questioned even if they were completely innocent. I see so many people around me, that I love and would like to help them break the pattern of self-doubt and self-destruction.
    Thank You in advance

Nessa Tesartir, you sound like you might be a candidate to become a Life Coach. Your willingness to help others is sincere. Check out the Life Coaching playlist on the channel. It is hard to motivate someone who doesn't want to be motivated. You can tell them what you see and ask what their perception is.

Instead of taking off the door I would just take off the door knob on the door that's what I would do instead but if the teenager has good behavior like cleaning up after themselves make up their bed then he or she gets their door knob back on the door when everyone else is sleeping.

Please give me suggesstion or something!
Im so done with my little sister, idk where to begin it, i am 18 (still trying to go to college and try to study my ass off) and my little sister is 15. Im kinda type which is when i say it, i will do that. So, we only live together because my parents just go for works. I do the cook and meal, and for cleaning we do that partly. So she hates vegetables, and im a vegan. Its a little difficult to cook for her because she always love fast food, i try to hold her but she never hear me. I try to cook chicken which is i never touch about it before, (i just studying before and almost never go to kitchen) i try to cook some meals etc which is i never did before, but she always complains, and there s 1000 reasons why she wont eat that not because its awful, just because to booing me in front of my dad or etc because i cant give her what she want. I gave her money i mean if she doesnt want what i cook so she can buy outside, but she doesnt want to buy it and i had to be always the one who buy it, though the seller just out of our window. Its okay i still can manage it. i wish she can take care about herself or something but she cant, she just not taking bath regularly, she just dont want to eat if its not served in front of her, she dont want to getup from bed at morning and keep with phone all day long. And about the cleaning, we agree that she will clean up everymess that she did and her room( never clean since last year i think, and will never let anyone enter her room, but i can smell bad from outside, and i ever know theres even dead bat inside it because the bat stuck there. Oh my god!!! Im so done. She keep promising and never do it. She throw her dirty clothes in bathroom floor and dont want to wash it. Her bedroom is so messy and she dont want to sleep there so she sleep in my room and in my father room and it keep mess again. Idk pls people give me advice or something. I try to tell her in kind way with small voice like some internet suggest to me. I honestly rarely angry, usually if im just so angry to people, im crying i try to be hard to her today, and i cant help my anger again. Please dont be rude to me if i did wrong things, because im trying and i never had children before. Im sorry
Im so done she is so disrespectful when everyone tell her something. Even theres a day when i go out with her to buy some ice cream in small store. And in front of the seller, she said 'omg, i want to vomit'. Im so angry!!!!!!!! Nobody deserves what she said to that seller

You are being put in a situation where you have no control or respect, that isn't fair to you. There should be another solution to this problem where you are not the one acting like the parent. You aren't the parent, you are the sister.

We have three rules for the house and one of them is to respect people. That means in how we talk and behave. If a child is out of control, I tell them that I will talk to them when they can talk to me like I am talking to them (calmly). I don't engage when they are yelling or being abusive.

my 12 year old daughter is becoming more and more rebellious and stubborn. she is so self righteous, always says 'but' to justify the unjustifiable even small things like rudeness. l personally have been accused of these things when l was young, likely true! she loves playing computer games with her phone, hates exercising with me, even going out cycling :( , how can l get her to learn to love reading, writing and being physically active? we do do 'word of the day' where i try to build her vocab, and at end of week ,ask her to write a short story with those words, better the story, more points she earns, and points equal money, which she loves! also get her to write her diary everyday, and we check her diary at end of week, for spelling and grammar mistakes, and she does have many :( any tips?

What do you do when your a legal guardian of your niece. But grandma has custody. Your trying to take that full role of authority bc grandma's health is not in the best place. Your think your geting somewhere but your not. You feel that they both working against you. I've spent thousands on them.giving up alot too move in. Take over care of grandma & my 12 yr old niece. Which I've always been there since birth. & have had a substantial hand in raising her .. We all moved states away closer to family bc that's what we felt be best. The agreement was i have legal guardianship of my niece & my mother would be able to focus on herself. @ 68 & on set dementia. But it's been a struggle the teen knows how to work grandma & take advantage to get what she wants. They team against me. Why i say that is bc others have actually brought it to my attention. How do you discipline a child. If other always doing the opposite. How do you teach them respect? The situation take forever to explain. But it's too the point where is effecting my health. I'm still not wanting to give up. I love my niece as my own. So I'm looking four answers.

      @LiveOnPurposeTV  3 года назад

CrazyFrogz, I can think of a few things and the first starts with self-care for you. You need to keep your bucket filled so you have the resources to help them. It is not easy and you will have to be methodical about this. I hope your niece is in counseling and you may consider doing the same. It will help you to make sense of what is happening. If family is available, bring them in to the equation.
