    I know you were hesitant about putting out this video but I’m glad you did. I’m not really an employee type person because I’m a big picture kind of guy. I looked at all kinds of things like franchises and other small businesses but the common theme is it takes serious money to start any of them. This is the only thing I see that seems super low cost. I actually never thought about the pet waste removal business until I saw a job posting on Indeed (one of the big job search sites). I even applied but never heard anything but I think it was an older job posting. The position was most likely filled and they just never took the posting down. I think they eventually get taken down but not immediately. The job posting was from a franchise owner (Scoop Soldiers) . I don’t think pet waste removal should be a franchise. The main reason I’m attracted to franchises is your basically buying into that brand name like McDonald’s. I don’t see anyone being big enough in the pet waste removal business for me to fork over thousands of dollars for rights to their franchise. They would have to really wow me. I want the flexibility and freedom of my own business. I’m tired of doing interviews , tired of hard work low pay. I have been let go from previous job( circle k brand gas station) and never want that feeling again. I am a caregiver right now and spiritually, emotionally it’s rewarding but financially it’s not cutting it it’s pretty low pay

      Are you taking it as I am making $78,000 a week? That would be cool if I was! Lol
      It all depends on the size of your business, I know scoopers that are doing close to $500,000 a year in business. He’s much larger than I am, I’m trying to stay around three or four people within the company.

    Ok I'm going to break it down on my thoughts on this video...
    1. I've been in landscaping and manual labor jobs and countless other jobs most I hated few I endured. But have been considering starting a pooper scooper business for a few months now.
    Your videos have given me needed insights and radiate the confidence I need to take the next step.
    2. You have a awesome husband and having a positive supportive cast definitely seems like a thing that's a must. And I thank you for sharing how at first people mocked you or made fun and didn't believe in you or your vision yet... Here you are posting truth and spreading knowledge and definitely good vibes thank you!
    3. I personally love being outdoors and I love even more being with my beautiful Blue Heeler named " Sue".
    I have a small lawn care business but here in Colorado I can only do that 7-8 months (if very lucky) out of the year the rest of the year it's a true struggle.
    4. I'm in my 40's now and a young determined woman with vision, humor, insight, humility and indeed a awesome partner/Husband that obviously provides more compliments and care then criticism and disregard to help aid in a healthy way (I'm sure others feed the positivity pipeline as well.) Goals set.
    5. Simply thank you I appreciate the videos you posted it's given this middle aged guy in Denver, Colorado a bit more peace and a bit more confidence and assurity stepping into new territory. Sue my pup and I with you and yours many blessings.

    Hi I have a question! Since I'm starting this on my own! And of course I'm going to be the only one scooping! Saying I want to go on vacation for a week or two! How does the pay method work! Like saying if I charge my client $15 a week! $60 for the month! Do I only charge them for the weeks i scooped or do I still charge them for the month $60! Cause when I return from my vacation I still have to scoop up that 💩! Just wanted to see how u would handle this situation

    Do you think your appearance, the doe eyes, the ponytail through the hat, the oversized glasses; do you think that had/has an effect on your success? I’m in the same business. I have a great marketing strategy (cards, memes, uniform colors) well thought out vehicle choice, thought out logo design, carefully planned potential customer areas, but my progress is slow. Dead slow. Customers are hesitant, almost precautious, when they see a 6 foot 210lbs guy approach their door. Thoughts?

      It could go either way. Sometimes I don’t get it taken seriously because of the way I look. I’m trying to have conversations with other service professionals and because I’m a female I don’t get taken seriously.
      But I do know that I have a really good personality and I’m excellent with customers and my customer service so that definitely helps me.
      There’s been times where guys haven’t wanted me to scoop their yard because they felt bad that I was doing it by myself. It’s a weird thing, but I try not to let my looks or my gender get in my way

    I am curious about disposal. I read on Nick's site you pay a fee to dump it. I have read you can use a unit underground to turn it into usable compost. Have you looked into this and sold it? It just cant be used with edible plants.

      I don’t take the poo any more. Disposing of it became a hassle so I stopped this April.
      Usually the city dump will take the poo or you can rent a dumpster. I personally do want to compost it because my neighbors would be pissed.

    I was wondering how can you afford to pay employees since the weekly clean up is like $14-15 a week per yard. Wouldn’t that be super low profit if you’re not doing it you’re self? Thanks.

    • @KroopinsPoopinScoopin
      @KroopinsPoopinScoopin  4 года назад +5

      A yard only takes about 7-10 minutes (typically) they average 3-4 an hour. Larger lots that take longer are priced accordingly, $20-$30 per week. Having the employees definitely cut into profits, but allows me to focus on other things within the business.
      I hope this answered your question 😀

    • @KroopinsPoopinScoopin
      @KroopinsPoopinScoopin  3 года назад +1

      We personally don’t do cat litter right now because I don’t like the idea of going into homes. But, there is such thing as a bucket service. This is where they would put the cat litter into the bucket and have the bucket outside for us to come pick up. I think I would charge anywhere from $7 to $10 per week for that.
      We bill 4 weeks at a time typically. I do have a couple customers that pay weekly, but in the process of trying to stop that.

      I also post in Byselle trade groups, but those are harder to post in these days. It’s better to get a friend or family to recommend you in those groups and tag your business page.
      Door hangers really haven’t brought me much business, but I’m not super consistent with passing those out since Rona.

      I don't need to get rich. I was an Uber driver during the pandemic and I was making about 150 to $300 a night and then the bottom dropped out. Now with gas prices I'm barely making 10 bucks an hour max.
      I need to be able to make about $200 a day. That shouldn't be asking too much. I should be able to make $200 a day and then more as time goes by.
      We were thinking about doing window washing and the poop business. Then. That way we get a client doing the poop and maybe we can add the windows and vice versa.

      @@whodatboi6046 thank you for clarifying. Here is my thought on it overall. I’m sure I’ve been hired for some jobs because of that way I look and those situations have been extremely uncomfortable for me. I’ve been cornered in a back yard while a man told me he dreams of hurting people… that was really scary. I’ve had my body commented on while I was scooping and have been asked some extremely uncomfortable questions. In all the years my husband has been doing tree service he’s never encountered most of the situations I have.
      I’ve had to stop bringing my husband to business meeting for moral support because they always start talking to him (he doesn’t own any part of my business)…. I’ve been laughed at when I’ve show up to a job and asked if I can handle it all by my little self.
      On the other side:
      I picked my colors to be pink and black. Pink is a trusting color it creates the emotion of trust. I carry myself for the most part in a way I find to be a respectable. I do think I have a good relatable personality and that is what I find helps me ALOT so I really lean into my personality. I also wear my big eye glasses because I think I look cute and smart… lol
      I do know I’ve been hired by people wanting to support women led business before so that’s definitely an advantage, I’ll take it! I also had an epic support system around me, I believed in myself so much it rubbed off on others.
      I’ll never really know the real reason why people initially used KPS, but I’d like to think it’s because I’m honest, reliable, fixed my mistakes and created a great customer experience.
