I know spring is a little ways away, but it’s good to have yourself prepared early. This video applies to one time/bulk cleans.
The brilliant thing about this business is no one really realises how profitable this business is . Ive been running a cleaning company but in spring im going to deep dive pet waste because the profit margins are WAYYY better .
Definitely get started before spring so you will be prepared for spring rush if you live in a snowy climate
I found your video off an interview you had. I’m a small lawn care business owner in Texas. Looking into adding this especially in fall/winter. It’s Lao been tough here because it’s technically our growing season and we are in a drought so I have been hustling a lot more.
Great video. I’m ready to get started for a side hustle. Thanks for the great tips. My neighbors must think I’m crazy bc I pick up our dog’s poop everyday. I like a clean lawn and I don’t want the mail or ups drivers stepping in dog poop or anybody else…👍👍👍
You gotta be a little crazy to start a dog poop Business 😜
Love your videos. So full of great info. Questions. 1. Your city let's you dump plastic bags of poop without an issue? We can't dump plastic, let alone plastic containing poop. Also, then why a dumpster & is the dumpster at your house? 2. What type & cost of insurance do you need? 3. Do I have to do DBA AND LLC or just LLC? 4. 2021, what do you use to invoice & accept pymts? Sorry so many questions Erica.
I’ll make a video for ya :)
Great information that would be nice for someone who works full-time and doing as a weekend hustle
Absolutely! Definitely a great part time hustle. Just think 🤔 if a person did 24 houses a weekend, about 8 hours worth of work. Each clean is priced on average of $15 per scoop. That’s $360 a week. That’s $18,720 a year, give or take depending on extra scoops or canceled scoops. That’s not bad money 💰
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin I'm confused about the price. I thought it was $50 charged to each client? If they do 24 houses at $50 per client that would be a $1,200 profit.
@@ambitiousbeauty1013 that would depend on what type of clean it is. I do want to throw this out here before I explain. I have changed my prices, my $50 cleans now start at $70.
A clean that is priced at $50/$70 and up are not typically weekly services. Those would considered bulk cleans/spring cleans/one time cleans/ first time cleans .. I use all of those words when describing a larger clean than a regular reoccurring service. The reason why these are priced higher is because there is usually one month to several months worth of waste. These type of cleans usually take 30 minutes to an hour plus.
If somebody signs up for regular reoccurring service then their weekly rate is typically $15 on that low end and up to $25 on the high end. Having said that, it's all circumstantially based. Depending on how many dogs, the area, how often they are having me come per week. A regular recurring service shouldn't really take more than 15 minutes unless it's a larger property or difficult scoop.
I hope that clears things up.
Is winter a slow time? I'm from south so winter isn't harsh like Midwest. Anyway another great video from you.
It does start to slow down, but we usually stay fairly busy through the winter. I try my damnedest to keep my current customers on board all winter.
And surprisingly, we get new ones that come on board, a lot of people do not want to scoop when it’s cold outside.
Being in the dog grooming business, i always have a million things to worry about, from cleaning supplies, to grooming tables, to clippers, to the soaps and shampoos, to powders, to bandanas, ...etc....The SIMPLICITY of the poop scoop game is soooooo appealing!!!! I can not wait to get started after the new year!!
This business is so simple! It's stupid how simple it is.
San Diego Poop Squad brought me here !!
How did you market your services ?
Hey! That’s. Deep question. Any ware a potential dog owner will be.
Super helpful! Great videos!
Why the 256 cleaner?
How do you dispose of the poop you’ve collected if they don’t want it in there trash or you don’t want it in yours ??
Thank you in advance
What if the homeowner doesn’t want the 💩 in their can? #pooperscooper #podcast
My husband and I have been talking about this for over 2 years now. I've always thought this kind of business is brilliant! How is your business doing during COVID? My biggest concern is what to use for billing?
We barely slowed down, business has been doing wonderful. It has a down moment, but no complaints here.
As for billing, you can except cash, Venmo, PayPal, cash app. If you want to take credit cards use Square Credit card processing platform. You can set up reoccurring billing and it’s really simple and easy to use. You do get charged a service fee but it’s not horrible, make sure to incorporate that when you are setting your pricing
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin Thank you so much for the quick response! We're ready to start this year (hopefully). Starting to prepare fliers and business cards and getting ready to buy supplies. I work 8 to 5 but have weekends off and my husband and mom are willing to help out as well. I just don't want to commit to a 2nd job working for someone else and love to be outside! Ive been binge watching your videos. Thank you for being so informative!
Im not sure if somewhere you have already mentioned what your prices and packages are? Do you mind telling me what you charge?
My base pricing starts at $60 a month
One dog
Once scoop per week
Yard size: 1/8 of an acre or less.
Pricing is different depending on your area. Have you looked up other companies in your are to see what they are charging?
Look at most of your videos, what do you do with the poop you pick up? How do you dispose of it?
Mainly the city dump and a rented dumpster
You said that you line the bucket with a trash bag, but that would mean that one side of the bag would come in contact with the grass and most likely get poop on the edge of the bag which would get on your hands when you remove the bag and close it. Wouldn't it make more sense to use a painters bucket and line it with a bag? I am sincerely asking.
For me this is what works best. The other way takes to long and I’d need to Sanitize the yellow bucket each time.
It’s hard for me type out the explanation of how eyeliner bucket and how I pull the bag off, but I record a video and am editing it right now.
It’s not the best quality, but It gets the job done for right now. The other way works too, I know people that do that but it’s not for me.
Do you drive around all day with the waste in your vehicle until you dispose of it at a local yard? Or do customers let you dispose of it in their trash cans?
Also, do you sanitize equipment between each stop or just at the end of the day? If after each stop, do you just spray and wipe the poop off, and then do a deep clean at the end of the day? Thank you for sharing all these videos!
Yes I drive around with a poop all day. I recently put a Home Depot bin in the back of the truck with bungee cord holding it in place and I put the poop bags in there. This way if I need to go into a store or I park in a public place I can put the lid over the bin and nobody sees the poop.
I do know companies that dispose of it in their customers trashcan, but I do not. I’ve definitely thought about it though, because the amount of poop I’m collecting is becoming overwhelming.
And I sanitize my equipment between each house. I spray it down with my 256 cleaner and wipe it with a sanitation wipe.
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin thank you so much for your quick response! That helps a ton. Thank you!!
Nice video 🎉
Thank you!
Do you get insurance?
Yes, I have liability and Workmen’s Comp. insurance
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin super curious how much that runs you.
How do you clean up runny poop?
I use my rake and get up what I can , but there is always some left behind
FYI: Your "spray bottle" referral link takes you to the foot booties page.
Thanks for reminding me, I’ve change some of them, but I have so many videos to go through to fix that darn link. Smh
Can you explain why you need the cleaner? Do you clean after each house?
You need the cleaner to disinfect your tool so you don’t transmit bacteria from one house to the other. If one dog has Parville or worms if you don’t properly disinfect your equipment you can take that to your next house and that would be awful.
You definitely should be disinfecting your tools between each house and do a deep disinfectant at the end of the day.
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin so after each house you have to spray and wipe it down. Have you even ran into someone blaming you their dog got sick?
Interesting
It is
The one time clean. This is where my other half and I disagree on what to charge. I say charge them the cost a customer that pays monthly would pay ( say 15 per week and you charge the one time clean @ $60) Other half says no why would you charge that much if your only going one time? He’s saying $30 is more reasonable… trying to figure out what makes the most sense and why.
Do you mind if I make a response video to you using a screenshot of your video?
would you recommend when starting the business to start by doing one time cleans only? and once you get enough customers start to do weekly or bi weekly in addition to one time cleans ?
Offering both at the same time makes the most sense to me. My goal is to convert a one time into a weekly . A weekly clean always gets a first time cleaning fee added onto their first bill. Price depends on how much poop, but always higher to compensate for the time it took to set that customer & learning the new property
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin thank you so much. my husband and i bought all our equipment today and ready to get started ! love your videos !
So fricking awesome! Can’t wait for you to check back in with us to tell us how it went and thank you for watching
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin update 14 hours later: we got our first customer! we both jumped up and down!
@@emmademarco7196 Yas!!!! This is such an exciting time. You’ll never forget the first. If you can, get a picture of the dog or you with the dog and post that bad boy all over social media. Really play up how you are a new small business owner looking to bring great service and value to the community.
I wonder who in Los Angeles or the Westside need help?
Hey lady, is your LLC your entire business name?
The LLC is actually under Kroopin services
KPS is a DBA under the LLC
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin do you need to do a LLC and DBA?
@@daniellehuffman3303 You don’t need both of them, you can get your business started with a DBA or LLC. I got the LLC afterwards because it provides more protection. I will always recommend to file for an LLC over a DBA with this business or any business where you have potential liability issues.
Once you have an LLC you can actually have multiple DBAs that work under that LLC.
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin Thank you!
Do you have any customers that want you there every day but Sunday ?
Say like 26 days a month ?
How would you charge this I have clients asking.
We scoop Monday-Friday and our pricing ranges from $16.50 all the way up to $120
Okay thank you got some confirmations on customers agreeing to a monthly package of 26 visits a month:$415.99
You think that’s to low ?
Keep in my mind I’m in California so Gas is expensive out here.
@@mando2.049 How far do you have to travel to get there? That’s not bad pricing to go there so many times throughout the month. How long will it take you to scoop each time you’re there?
We usually only go to peoples houses one time a week, up to three times a week.
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin 50 customers per route. 10-30 minutes per yard. Routes never pass 100 miles they way I route it.
Do you knock on people’s doors and ask them if you can scoop up their poop? Who’s your customers?
No, I’ve never knocked on peoples doors. My customers are dog owners that need help with their dog poop (Average Joe’s)
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin awesome, I just found this video and I’m kinda interested, it seems like a great way to make some extra $. I just moved to a new state do you have any recommendations how I could get customer?
Where does all the poop go?
In the homeowners trash can
@@KroopinsPoopinScoopin nice, I always wondered if y’all had to take it somewhere. That’s pretty easy
I was gonna charge people 25 a house
Do it! I have since raise my rates to $20 per house and that is the base price.they go up from there.
I want to see you cold knock and get 6 in one day
With the power of editing I could made that happen.
But in all seriousness, we don’t do a lot of cold knocking these days.
Most of our traffic comes through online, yard, signs, company, vehicles, and referrals.
I wonder who needs help?
