You can hear her mother’s voice in “Snakeskin” from a phone conversation, so they’re clearly on good terms! In “Paradisin’” the phone number that appears on the screen when she’s with a boy is her mum’s, who had hacked her MSN messenger and talked to her best friend. The Japanese in that is actually just Rina’s voice pitched down, which she thought sounded just like her mum. “STFU!” is about microaggressions that she’s dealt with growing up Japanese in London. The music video will piss you off and make you laugh at the same time! She loves Carly Rae Jepsen, definitely who she referenced in “Bad Friend.” She’s 30 and has a degree in Political Science, on top of a pretty successful modelling career. It’s cool to see what happens when an artist has so much artistic freedom for their first album. She works closely with Clarence Clarity, who really brought it production wise. Dynasty and Snakeskin just on a different level! We Out Here from the deluxe tracks i think is a must hear, it’s so unapologetically itself. Her EP before this debut album is also one of the most insane EPs in history, it’s “Rina” and wow that EP, you should hear it too.

XS being a pisstake on capitalism’s need for more and greed but also being such a banger like i loose my mind “GIMME JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE (X S) OH ME OH MY” please this album is amazing
I came across this because I love this album soooo much and also because seeing people react to the genres flipping every song is so fun to watch. Definitely recommend listening to the deluxe album track “We Out Here.”

Oh, you already knew about Natalia 🤣 Then lemme change it, I'd recommend you 'Days Are Gone by Haim' and 'Masseduction by St. Vincent', also, her latest release, Daddy's Home, is totally different from her previous work, is very 60s, 70s, I didn't like it on the first listen, but now I love it. I didn't like Sawayama at first, because I expected something else, then I got rid off that mentality and gave it another try and I loved it 😋
