@@s_libraaa Oooh, you’re totes right 🙈 I thought Lil Peep was the “6th friend”, but it looks like it was just his death in general that triggered her to write the song about her friends’ deaths. My bad, ‘twas a misunderstanding 😅 still a beautiful/sad/fave song 💝
Lil Peep’s passing did inspire the song but it’s not necessarily about him, rip

IDORU is my favorite song from Grimes. It has this fairy, running by the lake covered in flowers, summery, kind of vibe. This album was definitely a grower for me (like most albums tbh hahahaha).

“Delete Forever” is about her many fitness who have sadly passed from overdoses. It’s about the concept of something being gone forever, and there’s no recovering it.

ahhh so glad you enjoyed this album!! hope you don’t mind a longer comment 😭😭 okay, a bit of info- so 4ÆM samples a song from a bollywood movie called Bajirao Mastani (the ‘na na na na na na’ in the chorus) which is why there are so many production credits on that song, but it’s still only her that produced it! about the art mixes, if you look at the deluxe version there are some “algorithm” mixes she made to shorten some of the songs for playlisting reasons iirc. so the art mixes are the original versions. also, she did two Genius interviews about Delete Forever and My Name is Dark, those are def worth a watch to learn more about the meaning behind those songs. it’s super interesting to hear her thought process.
finally, as ppl are telling you haha, you did miss We Appreciate Power on the deluxe version, if you liked Miss A you have to hear it!! it came out in 2018 and it’s the first single from that era, definitely a departure from her older sound. she has been teasing some singles from her new album recently (just gotta say, HEAVY on the Violence vibes so far!! gonna be a space opera banger) so once a couple of those are released you could combine them into a video with We Appreciate Power? however you want haha

her best work so far hands down! delete forever is my absolute favorite grimes song, it just hits where it have to. I think it's kinda funny the whole concept of antrophocene and how a little bit after she have relesead the album the whole pandemic begun lol
