I mean it was really good before, but now it looks like the kind of art you see in cartoons that has whole departments dedicated to backgrounds. Im really impressed by how much work Illy puts into these, its always exciting to see that notification from her

The furthest road trip we took was 4 1/2 hours to Disneyland atleast once a year and since my moms parents frequently moved across the country on a whim she was well equipt to handle two kids on a comparatively short road trip. We always stopped at the same little town for milkshakes and bathroom breaks at the Mad Greek in Baker, filled up in Victorville and had plenty of snacks to last the trip. I guess I was really lucky to have such smooth road trips. To this day I make a list of everything to pack, any snacks and a full music playlist to get me through even my longest drive. When we went to Disney when I was a kid, my dad had the genius idea of making a contest of who could get the most pictures with Disney characters. The prize? Bragging rights. Many other children were knocked down and pushed aside in pursuit of this glory.

One time we went abroad and our luggage got delayed by a week, we didn’t have as much as a tooth brush so I had to go white water rafting in this random kid’s swim suit :)
I went to Disney World once, and I only remember five things from it: 1. There was a “design-your-own-roller-coaster” thing, and at the end you got to ride the roller coaster you designed. So I tried to make the scariest roller coaster possible and I saw a part that I thought would be way more exciting than it actually was. I made my mom ride it with me and when we got to that part the side of it terrified her and when we went over it I was very disappointed because it was just a single loop with two rings around it, and not the intersectiing triple loops I thought it was going to be. 2. At some point I got a plushie of Marie from the Aristocats, and she came with a blanket with Velcro on two corners so you could wrap it around her, and it also a strawberry on one corner of it so it looked like a button when the Velcro was fastened. And on our way back home I met this other kid in the airport, who had a Simba plushie with a leaf blanket. So we introduced our plushies to each other while out parents talked. 3. There was a dinosaur-themed Build-A-Bear workshop. I got a fully-dressed green triceratops, and my brother got a naked orange velociraptor. And for the sound, I chose a 5-in-1 “teen girl’s phrases” sound, and my brother recorded himself screaming “FAMETHROWER” and then blowing into the microphone. 4. We ate at Cinderella’s castle, and all I remember about it was that my ice cream had a little chocolate crown on top (or it might have been plastic, I don’t really remember. I think it was chocolate) 5. At some point, I got cold while we were waiting for some kind of transportation (might have been a train, might have been the monorail) and my dad took his shirt off so I could wear it and be slightly less cold. And I think I might have been a bit of an ungrateful brat, because I remember complaining even though my there was really nothing else my parents could really do about it at the time. (Sorry dad. I know you tried your best)
weirdly, the traveling has always been the easiest part for my family. my mother plays her music in the car and i daydream to it, my sister's on her phone, and my parents either talk together or my mom sleeps. during the actual trip there's always some kind of argument and it kind of dampens the vibe of the rest of the trip, even if we all recover by the next day
Since I was born on January 1st, My mom promised me ever since I was a little girl that for my 21st birthday, we'd go watch the ball drop in time square, and she'd buy me my first legal drink in NYC! I turn 21 this year, and I'm so excited! It'll be the first vacation my family has taken in the winter, and it'll be an 8 hour drive from CLE to NYC. :)

Heres how to make a road trip easy: 1. Pack your Chargers 2. Bring a DS and another console or other stuff 3. Bring a list 4. Bring Chess boards 5. Pack a hella lot of food and snacks And never forget: 6. Bring something else to pass your time such as a sketchbook and drawing stuff or a book
okay so here’s the thing for when I went on road-trips as a kid: 1. I ALWAYS forgot my chargers 2. I didn’t have any gaming consoles to bring because my brother always stole them 3. My mother thought it was useless for ME to bring a list so she wouldn’t let me make one (ridiculous right?) 4. I don’t play chess 5. My dad didn’t allow us to eat in the car 6. The roads were always so bumpy that I couldn’t draw in the car, I tried, but it wasn’t of any use. I couldn’t read there either because it would make me throw up. So this is why my road trips were always one big disaster :D

It’s funny, my mom used to give us Dramamine so we wouldn’t “get car sick”, but it was so we could fall asleep the whole ride so they wouldn’t have to deal with our fights or someone crying 😂😂
My unforgettable family vacation was the one where me and my family of 7 stopped at every single 7-11 on the way to DC and we got unlimited slushy cups and that was the best thing ever for 4 y.o me

Last year, when my mom little sister and I tried to fly to South Carolina for a wedding we had to attend. Our flight was unfortunately one of many that got cancelled in mid-2022 due to staffing shortages, after waiting and running around LaGuardia Airport for *7 hours* , we finally gave up and took a Lyft home. 3 days later we got to take a trip to American Dream as compensation for missing what could have been an amazing short vacation.

My brother and I surprisingly never really argued with each other on our yearly trips to AZ before we moved. We'd just play on our DS's, watch movies in our old vans before my grandmother got a new car, and listen to random songs on our iPods. 2008-2013 baby!
One time we drove a couple hours on a really hot day to a super crazy mirror maze for a special treat for one of my brothers but my youngest brother who was a toddler at the time didn’t really understand the concept of a mirror maze and broke his nose immediately after smashing headfirst into my mom’s reflection while asking for fruit snacks. The drive back was not fun.
I lived in New York and my family would go on a vacation in Florida during February so that means a 24+ hour road trip. I love it so much. Now that we live in Florida, we can’t have those road trips anticipating for a week of Disney fun and seeing cousins I either hate or love. But I get to go to Disney Springs whenever I want since it’s 20 minutes away and I get to walk around and feel magical.

Last year, when my mom little sister and I tried to fly to South Carolina for a wedding we had to attend. Our flight was unfortunately one of many that got cancelled in mid-2022 due to staffing shortages, after waiting and running around LaGuardia Airport for *7 hours* , we finally gave up and took a Lyft home. 3 days later we got to take a trip to American Dream as compensation for missing what could have been an amazing short vacation.

My brother and I surprisingly never really argued with each other on our yearly trips to AZ before we moved. We'd just play on our DS's, watch movies in our old vans before my grandmother got a new car, and listen to random songs on our iPods. 2008-2013 baby!

One time we drove a couple hours on a really hot day to a super crazy mirror maze for a special treat for one of my brothers but my youngest brother who was a toddler at the time didn’t really understand the concept of a mirror maze and broke his nose immediately after smashing headfirst into my mom’s reflection while asking for fruit snacks. The drive back was not fun.
I lived in New York and my family would go on a vacation in Florida during February so that means a 24+ hour road trip. I love it so much. Now that we live in Florida, we can’t have those road trips anticipating for a week of Disney fun and seeing cousins I either hate or love.
But I get to go to Disney Springs whenever I want since it’s 20 minutes away and I get to walk around and feel magical.
How did you bring back my memories of my family vacation shenanigans! 🤣
