    I was born in Wales near Efailnewydd before my family moved to Canada some 68 years age. My Granny would tell us this tale in Gymraeg which is the traditional language of Walsh ( I could speak it pretty good then) When Gymraeg is spoke it almost sounds like sing rather then speaking. I loved this legend then or as my gran would say a true story of the Walsh that made Briton Great. Hearing this version tonight warmed my heart.

    Greetings From Russia. It was a beautiful and charming story. I would like to add that according to another version of this legend The Sword was given to Merlin by the famous Lady of the Lake. After some time the sword was broken by accident and the Lady of the Lake gave him another sword which name has become known as Excalibur

      Hi Allyson - thanks so much for your very sweet comment! I usually search for and rewrite original versions of the stories I narrate - but for this particular story, as there were many versions (some more graphic and obscure than others!), I chose a text based on the works of H. Talbott. It seemed to be the most thorough, RUclips-friendly version I could find. I hope that helps! xx

      Jordan Howe No it was most likely started after the Norman conquest in the 11th Century, it kind of bigs up the idea of accepting Norman law and order around 450 years after the first Archbishop of Canterbury

    • @ItsTheStoryteller
      @ItsTheStoryteller  5 лет назад

      According to sources that I've come across, the legend was actually set after Christianity, during a period that's known as the Dark Ages in Europe - A time after the fall of the Roman Empire (at some point between 500 to 1066AD), in which the climate in England was a bit chaotic, the people were impoverished and the economy was in tatters. I'd imagine that these legends helped to lift people's spirits during such a difficult period :)
