I am so happy to hear from her that Lata ji called her during one of the hardest times of her life and consoled her. Lata ji herself never got married and devoted her entire life to music, she inspired Chithra ji to do the same after her daughter unfortunately died. Chithra ji is one of the greatest influences on current day South Indian playback singers (and even North Indian playback singers like Jonita Gandhi, Shreya Ghoshal etc), she is certainly a sweetheart and a talent we should cherish as long as she is alive.

In a Telugu singing show, SPB sir said that he couldn't recognise the voice of Chitra ma'm when he went for singing Yeh Haseen waadiyan....the way ARR took n recorded Chitra ma'm voice and appreciated the both of them

Chitra ji is great singer. I had a chance to meet her. I was working in restaurants as a waiter in New Jersey 2018. All of sudden she came with her husband and her friend. I was thinking that I have seen that lady somewhere but I can’t figure it out. Thn my boss told me she is singer chitra ji. I served her and took selfie. Afterwards da she gave me 10$ top as well. That bill I still have. That’s was life time memory 🙏

Although I am a Sri Lankan, I use to enjoy Indian music very much. India is so fortunate to have these precious artists like Chitra ji and SP ji. I wish to be born in India in my next life.
I must appreciate for
1. the way anchor questioned
2. the way started
3. The way they concluded logically and with good note.
So much though process went in that and it is reflecting
Many Celebrities life isn't a cake walk. they have struggled a lot to be in a position where we can praise and follow.
Chitra ji is one such icon every one admires and likes. And her associated with ARR sir always a memorable outcome for all music lovers.
I pray to god that such outcomes should flood us and for next gen.
Today, while many of music composers adopting western style, ARR is only one highlighting Indian music roots and at the same time incorporating other music genre making his music different from other.

I would be happy to say "She is totally different from most of the singers.". 🙂
Chithra ji is totally different from most South Indian singers too. Her voice has no similarity to Janaki Amma, Sujatha Chechi or Vani Jayaram, or any other South Indian contemporary of hers. If she sings in a choir of South Indian singers, her clarity, sweetness and vocal technique would shine brightest among all. I respect all singers, but Chithra ji is certainly the queen of them all.

Having tears in my eyes while writing this comment. This episode was a journey. Right from when AR Rahman was a kutty boy to SPB's demise to when her own kutty girl died and beyond. Esp when she sings "En Kathalae" - I had tears before she said SPB would have tears! And ending with Rang De Basanti title song! Hats off to whoever directed, scripted, edited and put this episode together! You touched my heart!

Loved this episode even more I must say. So many emotional topics packed in one episode. It's surely an emotional memory trip for so many of us here.
But what surprised me most was how she hadn't even once spoke to Rahman or the other way round till Roja happened! They obviously had met on many occasions and she had that curiosity to know about him. Yet there's such silence between them is unfathomable but then that's how introverted shy ppl can be and here neither of them are the outgoing types to strike that much needed conversation which could've been an epic matter for this episode to be telecasted now!
