...and the dynamic of how Fred is viewed & treated by family/friends just because he is one of them. "I say, I said, my name is Fred, and I've been.... *_very naughty._* " -The fact that I have not seen Courage in decades but I still remember that one quote by heart says a lot about the quality of the show.
Fred, the Egyptian prophet guy (the plague episode), the creepy embryo thing in the teacher episode, the kitty episode, the weird red cat guy, and the tree dude are all vivid memories
whats really creepy about fred is that he's shaving fetish is literally a metaphor for murder. many psychopathic murderers start out their killing "career" with their own pets and then move on to other animals finally to other people
This was my take on it, he's a textbook parallel to serial killer/molester. Starts with tormenting animals, then close relatives. He keeps talking about how uncontrollable his naughty urge.
I had never realised that this episode highlighted pedophilia. The fear/creepiness courage feels from Fred is exactly how a kid would feel in the presence of a molester. Muriel sitting outside the closed door is a repredentation of adults ignoring red flags by relatives/friends who in most cases indulge in such activities. Children who have faced abuse keep on figthing with it till adulthood. The trauma is too complex for a simple mind to process.
POV: Unchecked pedophilia (I don't want pedophiles to die, I understand the internal struggle of fetishes, and how can they get you to do... *Naughty* Stuff, and I wish those that suffer of pedophilia get their well needed therapy...)
To be completely honest the word p***philia triggers me, perhaps because I've seen the effects of it firsthand. I mean Courage definitely gets assaulted in this episode, but I really don't think it's supposed to be taken that seriously. For one, Fred doesn't limit his fits of mania to children. It seems to just be implied that whether you're a person or an animal, even Fred's own pet, nobody is safe from his shears. Courage, Muriel, and Eustace act the same way as they do in every other episode. There's nothing particularly menacing about Muriel or Eustace in this episode. Eustace would have slammed the door on Courage even if Courage had walked in the bathroom alone, let's be honest. I also think the mark left on Courage at the end, "With Love, Fred," is just a last laugh from a goofy villain, but I suppose you could see it as mirroring the permanent scars of real life trauma. I don't buy it though. But of course you're free to see it how you want as well, that's the great thing about art. I just feel like I had to defend my own thoughts on the episode after reading such a crude theory.
Well actually the show represents on a dogs prespective in the world as courage seees everyone as a scary monster where as Muriel sees probably just a normal human such as in this episode it’s her new phew and he is young and “naughty” why do you think they live in the middle of no where cos courage has never been outside thus meaning he doesn’t know what it looks like because they’re too old to walk courage so his never been out. Sorry I went deep into the lore
This episode basically is about how a hair fetish took over and ruined Fred's life Edit: okay so I'm going to say it clear. Fetishes are okay and fine (like go at it go have some fun) but I'm talking about how Fred's obsession gone too far and started to hurt his mental health and the people around him. So in short it's okay to have fetishes but be safe, healthy, and aware about it and do seek help if you think you might have a problem.

Very true. This show is one of the only shows that leaves a lasting impression.
Fred, the Egyptian prophet guy (the plague episode), the creepy embryo thing in the teacher episode, the kitty episode, the weird red cat guy, and the tree dude are all vivid memories

This animation looks *amazing!* I'm surprised nobody is talking about it
I mean he could get a job as an army barber and be a master
Could be his backstory.
I don't think the army would hire someone that couldn't make it pass a psych eval.
Take a shot every time Fred says “nAaAAaaaAUUUUghtY”

Well, that is absolutely disturbing
whats really creepy about fred is that he's shaving fetish is literally a metaphor for murder. many psychopathic murderers start out their killing "career" with their own pets and then move on to other animals finally to other people
Maybe it's not murder, If you swap his hair fetish for any other fetish, like pedophilia or zoophilia, it could be a metaphor for rape or harassment.
@@maio0077personally i think it could be "doing horrible things to other ppl for our own pleasure in general"
@@maio0077 yeah, it def feels like a rape metaphor to me
@@marguerite2286Yeah, it could be anything, but the principle is there
This was my take on it, he's a textbook parallel to serial killer/molester.

Holy fuck, so that’s why it’s so fucking awkwardly strange!
POV: Unchecked pedophilia (I don't want pedophiles to die, I understand the internal struggle of fetishes, and how can they get you to do... *Naughty* Stuff, and I wish those that suffer of pedophilia get their well needed therapy...)
@@torterra1826 We need a real-life Ludovico treatment to cure serial killers and sex offenders.
@@torterra1826it’s not a fetish, it’s a crime. Pedo rape children, what can be worst seriously ....
A lot of people thought Muriel was a god damned idiot...
In truth, she is the sweetest old lady who is too god damned innocent to tell what is bad
Elven Ambers well goddamn
Rose Nylund from golden girls
Muriel is the best!
Exactly
Well actually the show represents on a dogs prespective in the world as courage seees everyone as a scary monster where as Muriel sees probably just a normal human such as in this episode it’s her new phew and he is young and “naughty” why do you think they live in the middle of no where cos courage has never been outside thus meaning he doesn’t know what it looks like because they’re too old to walk courage so his never been out. Sorry I went deep into the lore

This episode basically is about how a hair fetish took over and ruined Fred's life
Edit: okay so I'm going to say it clear. Fetishes are okay and fine (like go at it go have some fun) but I'm talking about how Fred's obsession gone too far and started to hurt his mental health and the people around him. So in short it's okay to have fetishes but be safe, healthy, and aware about it and do seek help if you think you might have a problem.
well its still better than a foot fetish
Everyone got their original kink they shouldn't be ashamed of
@@BitterSweet5950l I'm aware of that people shouldn't be ashamed of their kinks but I'm talking about how Fred's obsession gone too far that it started to affect his mental health and people around him.

What I don't see people talking about is how adorable Muriel was in this video-
Muriel is adorable in every Courage episode. Except for maybe that one where she turns into the monster after getting bitten by the creature, but even then, still fairly loveable.

Its clearly a remake but they still kept the classic Courage art style while working in their own art style and thats actually super neat to me??
I seriously hope these people get solid jobs working in animation because I'm not even a minute in and this is already VERY well made. Retaining and respecting the source material while adding their own flare to it works really well.

Can we talk about how in some scenes from Courage's perspective Fred is super creepy, but from Fred's,Courage is just a cute cartoony dog
The worst part about Fred is that he's part of Muriel's family, to show that predators aren't always strangers
Most people who abuse children are actually relatives of those children. It's a dark world out there.
In actuality, MOST predators are either relatives or family friends.
Well that’s assumed anyway. After all Muriel is Scottish and ‘Fred’ is English. It’s also pretty clear that she is senile who’s to say this actually is Fred? It could be just some guy who tricked her into thinking it’s her nephew.
