  • This video is the result of three months of research into Apple, and its systematic war against websites. I still like a lot of what Apple is doing despite the issues in this video, especially their fight to protect user privacy and offer great user experiences. This is a new type of video on this channel, let me know what you think about it.

As a developer I am always advocating my company to ignore platforms that don't allow for reasonable development. If you have an app on an inferior platform, mention that some features aren't available on it and do the bare minimum.
The Google Play store of course has full support of TWAs so naturally as more and more people move on to PWA/TWAs that's more and more just going to mean developing for the web and ignore native apps.

Funnily enough this app-disaster is also the main reason why it's basically impossible to establish a new platform. Like Android is nice and all but without Google services it's not very enjoyable. But you can't possibly establish a new platform because app ecosystems. If you just had to import some bookmarks and grant some permissions because it's all browser based... that would be so much better

Yeah, that would have been so much easier, but it might have made it too easy for competitors to startup, and Apple/Google don't like that. Google is developing a new mobile OS named Fuchsia and they have this exact problem. That's probably one of the reasons they made Flutter which compiles to all platforms, including Fuchsia.
