When I was a teenager, I was a victim of early revenge porn but it was not even called that at the time and I’m really glad that I was not a teenager in this day and age because it would have ruined my life. The implication that this cannot be stopped or controlled is terrifying for so many young kids.

I've also had that issue years ago. Yes, I'm female. And that's why I'll never put my rl pic in any profile or online anywhere. I see people plastering their selfies and such all over social media... and I cringe. Anyone who wanted to, could easily take revenge on most anyone for that reason.

It’s fascinating how AI is being used to both create and detect deepfakes. Intel’s 96% accuracy with blood flow detection is promising, but it’s clear we need multiple layers of defense against such sophisticated technology.

And screen shot’ing an image removes nearly 99% of all that metadata so….. now what?

Screenshotting removes all meta data. Meta data is the text that is included in the actual file, but screenshotting creates a new file, so fresh meta data. What screenshotting doesn't do is remove Nightshade (the shield that she speaks about from around 04:38), so that is a very worthwhile thing to do if you want to protect your images from being scraped.

In a generalist sense, watermarking and even nightshade is a form of meta data it’s simply not stored in the file as text based human readable information.
With that in mind the stated 99% was not untrue.
There are also methods and tools out there that while not removing it can substantially degrade nightshade’s effectiveness.
Since the real focus of the video is trying to do something about DeepNudes, the fact that the level of complexity in the prevention far exceeds how relatively easy and simple it is to bypass means nightshade is realistically not going to achieve much in preventing DeepNudes

Yes, technology, of course, can !
After all , technology can read the files that run behind the scenes.
    Eventually, it will come together.

The OP here is correct. However, nothing in this will be perfect as it is all created by humans.
