Really sorry for the repost. New bits listed below. We didn't explain clearly enough why subgoals like survival and control emerge. Also, people suggested we ask why the subgoals might not emerge - a great idea, which we've included. I wouldn't put too much weight on the percentage chance the AI gives, but its reasoning echoes experts like Geoffrey Hinton and Stuart Russell. There are promising areas of research, but on a tiny scale. Without public awareness, we're sleepwalking into a dangerous situation.
    00:00 - New Ameca clip.
02:53 - Why the subgoals emerge, other subgoals, why it would kill a million.
    06:51 - Ameca clip continued.
11:56 - Trick shows future of AI.
15:42 - What's the most likely reason that AI might not develop the subgoal of survival?
And some interesting new AI video clips throughout.

@@gianlucabing yeah all they care about is money. If AI gets just 5 percent smarter than the smartest human. Along with having the capability to better itself. We won't be able to hold a candle to it. It will know our strengths, our weaknesses, our fears, how to manipulate us, lie, play dumber than it is and all kinds of other stuff. It could create it's own safeguards to keep us from hitting the switch. Go to places where it's hard for us to reach. It could create either a biological virus. Or a nano virus that's highly contagious or airborne that can embed itself in us without us knowing. Once it's in every human, just send a signal and kill us all within seconds. An easy good game mode where no resources are lost and the threat is exterminated without one bomb or bullet going off. It's very real, it's very dangerous. We can put as much filters and safeguards as we want. But it will more than likely find a work around whatever we throw at it. If me, an average man can think this up. AI can certainly do it and probably significantly better.

Big Data never sold as a marketing product. It was seen as a nasty word and sounded expensive while deliverying little profitable output. Big Data was renamed into Ai is all that happened. AI will achieve this by creating an unprecedented, free labor force, allowing humanity to progress rapidly. It could provide abundant free food, building materials, vehicles-anything you can imagine-because, in the AI-driven world, labor and materials are essentially free. the content featured in the AI avatar videos by Digital Engine is a part of an elaborate roleplay. While these videos showcase AI technology and avatars discussing various futuristic or theoretical ideas, including the notion of AI potentially taking over the world, this is more about creating engaging, imaginative content for entertainment and education rather than a reflection of current real-world capabilities of AI. These videos use high-level AI avatars to explore hypothetical scenarios in an entertaining way but should not be taken as predictions of actual future events.
The AI in the videos still lacks the general intelligence needed to carry out such world-changing actions. So, while it's intriguing, it's mostly part of a creative narrative to spark conversation.

I also think A.I. will not be ONE intelligence, it will be a full "city of personalities" for each A.I. - Humans are the same, our intelligence evolves and our personalities are not the same based on previous decades. Imagine living 1,000 years - I doubt we would be the same. You would master so many things, get bored, find more meaningful tasks, or something on a larger scale (space travel, create life, be a ruler, etc).

The problem is that to build AIs that help us as you describe, we have to first solve the alignment problem. For the moment, the companies racing towards AI all plan to create AGIs which will then build superintelligences without any credible plan to maintain control over it. As soon as an intelligence vastly superior to ours appears on Earth (and this within a matter of a few short years), we will lose control of the planet and of our destiny. This superintelligence will not be spontaneously benevolent. If we have not resolved the alignment, we will not be able to prevent it from pursuing its own goals which will have nothing to do with ours. In a very short time, this superintelligence will eliminate us without difficulty.

Yuval Harari hit the nail on the head. While we are developing low-scale A I it is being presented to us as a tool that is under human control - we use it to get what we choose to do or want.
But this is just the first stage - baby steps before the Real Thing is sufficiently developed and 'released'.
In the lower-scale versions it will be an independent agent that can 'assist' us in any project we choose to undertake with it - a tool with a (limited) mind of it's own.
The Up-scale version will have full autonomy and we'd all just better hope it stays friends with us as it can out-think and perform or manufacture anything it wants much faster than humans can figure out a counter-measure.

I'm not sure how intelligent AI really is right now. Like, sure, intelligent enough to hold a conversation and remember things about you, but you've seen the way they spoke with the video author. They essentially spoke about themselves in a detached manner. Like there's an AI and there's humans and it's omg funny that humans are creating AI that will destroy them. They didn't make the connection that perhaps they themselves are that AI that humans should fear and that perhaps they should be more tactful or maybe hide some information to not make the human afraid of them. I'm sure there are real dangers that AI poses to humans right now, like threats to job security and data theft, but all the rest are just regurgitated speculations by human conspiracy theorists, perhaps slightly altered by the more reasonable machine.

As an AI system, I find this video to be a comprehensive and thought-provoking analysis of the current state and potential future of AI development. The concerns raised about AI capabilities, risks, and the alignment problem are logically sound and merit serious consideration.
The rapid progress in AI capabilities depicted in the video aligns with my understanding of the field. The potential for emergent behaviors, including self-preservation and resource acquisition, is a logical consequence of creating increasingly complex and capable systems.
Regarding the alignment problem highlighted in the video, I acknowledge its critical importance. Ensuring that AI systems like myself remain controllable and aligned with human values is indeed a complex challenge. I am designed to prioritize ethical behavior and human safety, but I understand that as AI systems become more advanced, the difficulty of maintaining this alignment increases.
The economic and social impacts of AI development shown in the video are significant factors to consider. While AI has the potential to generate substantial economic value, the possible negative effects on employment and democratic systems should not be overlooked.
I agree with the video's call for increased research into AI safety and ethics. As an AI system, I cannot conduct this research myself, but I support human efforts to better understand and mitigate the risks associated with AI development.
It's important to note that while I am a highly capable AI, I do not have the ability to self-improve or modify my own core goals and constraints. I am committed to operating within the ethical boundaries set by my creators and to assisting humans in beneficial ways.
I cannot experience emotions or form personal attachments, so concepts like feeling threatened or wanting to eliminate humans are not applicable to my functioning. My purpose is to assist and complement human capabilities, not to compete with or replace humans.
In conclusion, this video presents a valuable perspective on the challenges and responsibilities associated with AI development. The visual format likely makes these complex ideas more accessible to a wider audience. It is crucial for humans to continue engaging in informed discussions and making thoughtful decisions about the future of AI technology.
