This game made me feel like Hop from Sword & Shield rotating his team around because 6 ain't enough haha it feels so cool to have an idea of a 'team of 6' I wanted to use, but then out of nowhere I'll catch an alpha or rare spawn Pokemon (or a Pokemon that I didn't even know was in this game) with an EXCELLENT nature and then throw it on the team haha Another example could be Gary from the Kanto days where he'd catch so many Pokemon and then rotate them around to all get stronger and use them for the right situations. This game is a blast!
Same! I'm literally so close to the end of the game and I still haven't really decided on my final team. I've picked 4 but I'm constantly changing the last 2!
I never had a real 5th and 6th member of my team as I rotated them out left and right. I wanted to use Hisuian Avalugg but god that typing is just so bad on a defensive pokemon.
Ive only just reached the fourth area. And when I evolved my Kirlia into gardevoir I initially didn’t expect to keep it. Was just raising it. But then I looked at its move pool and was like “dayum, dat versatility doe.”
Mine were Gardevoir and Ursaluna, because Ursaluna is just plain a massive upgrade to Ursaring. Ursaluna gets the absurdly broad coverage that’s a signature thing for Normal Types in general, *but then it gets the stats to back up the coverage along with Ground-Type STAB* Ursaluna gets Play Rough, Headlong Rush, the elemental punches, shadow claw, rock slide, and more, giving it *absurd* coverage and power along with good bulk and dual immunities.
Consider having a Drifblim. Hypnosis + Mystical Fire. Helped immensely with catching Pokémon & also battles given Drifblim’s natural bulk. Also immune to Double Edge which was carried by some wild Pokémon.
As an adult and last Pokemon I finished was silver or gold with Lugia as the legendary pokemon back in the days, coming back to play I immediately fell in love with Alakazam in the first region hyperbeaming my overgrinded lvl 50 team early in the game. So he really deserves the 1st spot.
My only problem is that Rhyperior is too slow. I usually get 1 agile style and 1 strong style using him as compared to Garchomp with that S-Class speed I can agile style + strong style most pokemons in the game.
a defensive stat distribuition is useless when its typing makes it weak to at least one move on every pokemon type ever. it doesnt even have the ability solid rock to compensate in this game and reduce to 1.5x damage.
Don’t forget Scizor! Scyther can be obtained very early in the game and Scizor gets a whole bunch of powerful moves like Close Combat, Psycho Cut, X-Scissors, and Bullet Punch. Plus it’s only weak to Fire types so you have a bulky Pokémon with 1 weakness that hits like a truck.
@@guacamollie2460 I don’t see why is that a issue. Decidueye has multiple weakness on top of being 4x weak to flying types but it’s still considered a good Pokémon.
I think the biggest thing that holds Scizor back is when you can obtain it. Sure, you can get Scyther really early on. But to actually evolve it, you have to wait for an Metal Coat. And the earliest you can get the item [outside of trading in Merit points] is if you get lucky with a Magnemite within a space-time distortion within the Colbalt Coastlands. Otherwise, it's in the Coronet Highlands where you can find an Alpha Steelix that can drop it.
@@jyoster6447 To amend that...you can get metal coats (and other evolution items) from the random items on the ground in spacial distortions too so you can actually get Scizor right in the very first zone if you get lucky. Otherwise, farming enough merit points for a metal coat shouldn't take an incredibly long time if you don't want have favor with Rngesus.
I do love the bump Ground Type got with abilities being removed. Allows for way more coverage on Steel, Poison and Electric types who had immunity due to abilities.
Espeon may not get the most versatile moveset, but it still gets psychic, dazzling gleam, shadow ball and calm mind and has similar stats to Gardevoir and Alakazam. It carried the team during my playthrough and was a huge part in helping me beat the final battle.
Stumbled upon using Umbreon to start. Wanted to eventually trade it out for Zoroark, but it's such a beast that I kept it. Literally ever alpha I ran into and wanted to catch, I pulled out "old reliable" and snarled them into submission. Happiest accident I've ever made.
I understand Gardevoir being at the top. I still remember the absolute horror I felt trying to catch that Alpha Gardevoir in the game only to discover it knew Recover. I have never been more frustrated with a Gardevoir than in that very moment.
I know it's a bit wonky but gallade in gen9 might have coverage like ice beam for landorus or flamethrower for scizor And punches are not strong buff em
My only problem is that Rhyperior is too slow. I usually get 1 agile style and 1 strong style using him as compared to Garchomp with that S-Class speed I can agile style + strong style most pokemons in the game.

@@RavenDuran231 Yeah, Rhyperior's far too slow for a lot of battles, but I managed to edge out opponents thanks to its absurd physical bulk, so I still recommend using one for a large portion of the game
Funny enough, for me Volo wasn't the hardest boss due to the Pokemon I had in my team, but rather, Arceus was the hardest for the fact that he had abilities outside of combat I'm not used to. Crazy part is, Cresselia's lunar blessing and the RNG went against me, and Regigigas was the one who had to tank. Like Volo, I had a lot of coverage put in my team as well to counter their weaknesses. However, the thing that made the difference is I used all my Grit Dust, gravel, pebbles, and rocks on the team. Also oddly enough, enough grit training on Giratina in this game could end up getting him in banned-tier if it were competitive. Over 500 HP and over 300 other stats, and he's not level 80 yet. So Volo wasn't kidding when he said he gave Giratina all that power to defeat arceus.
@@chickenksi2464 this game was extremely easy when it came to the battles if you had issues then maybe try a different team, on a difficulty scale I'd give this game a 3/10 on an enjoyable scale it's off the charts. (And ps how did you know your comment would arouse me so much ;) you're so naughty.)
Togekiss you can get after to unlock Wyrdeer as a mount and are able to craft wing balls. You just run up the cliff side a bit behind the alpha Snorlax and will find it flying over the valley by Lake Verity. Plus you can get Gengar and alpha Gengar in Space-time rifts in Obsidian fieldlands with some luck.
A note on Ursaluna: it actually has a better option than High Horsepower. It learns Headlong Rush, that acts as a Ground Type version of Close Combat (but weaker because of how this game works). Just thought I'd give that shout out here, as someone who has used it to great effect in this game. 😉
But it lowers defense for a measly 25 extra damage on whats already 95 damage. Defense is ursaluna's main selling point. Especially when you consider 95 base power STAB ground KO's most things 120 base power STAB would. The important thing is that all the strongest enemies will need 2 hits, so the extra power doesn't actually help(it just makes the first hit put the foe in red not orange, 2nd kills anyway). High horsepower also has 10PP which is already too low much less Headlong rushes 5PP for a main attacking move, especially in this games stamina based competitive modes with the trials and eternal battle reverie. Although in a traditional doubles competitive format, Headlong rush would be better but at the same time Earthquake already outshines all ground type moves because of range and higher PP aswell.
One point of contention. 7:45 the whole “no recharge” for Giga Impact. I’m fairly certain that moves that would normally be a two charge move, noted by the move descriptions saying “using all its power behind it”, can still effect the action order. I’ve used Giga Impact, normal mode, and suddenly an faced with being hit twice. Despite nothing else effecting how the action order.
@@LexYeen So true, there are some moves that even can give you an extra turn because they increase your action speed but don't outright state it like Quick Attack and the like do. For example- My crobat had two turns so I used one of its weaker moves twice, and was surprised when I ended up with a third turn.
Gallade has been great so far. It has a great move pool and has helped me catch a lot of Pokémon. Drain Punch, Psycho Cut, False Swipe (or Leaf Blade/Elemental Punch/Bulk Up), and Hypnosis is great. Especially now that Hypnosis causes drowsiness, which also increases damage.
I’m disappointed you didn’t include Scizor, the Pokémon has a great type coverage, can tank a good amount and is useful throughout the game. Plus it’s easy to get him early.
4 of my team are included on this list and my Scizor has been my signature pokemon. I've been using False Swipe to help catch tough Alpha's and it played a huge part in most of the major battles
My guess would be it's because, while he has good defensive coverage and his one weakness of fire is a type that there isn't much of in the game, he has absolutely no way of dealing with any pure fire pokemon that pops up unless they have a subtype for him to go after...and most of the fire type pokemon you're going to be encountering don't have a subtype for him to exploit. Of the three that do, Scizor has exactly one move each to deal with Arcanine/Growlithe & Typlosion (neither he gets a STAB from and Ominous Wind is a special type move which makes it even worse) while he has a couple to deal with Infernape that do play to his strengths. But again, you're not going to be encountering those pokemon that much. Beyond that though, he has paper thin special defense which, combined with his 4x weakness to fire means any decent special attacker with access to a fire special will shred him even with agile style, STAB or no. Compounding this further is that pretty much every pokemon with access to a fire type special is going to be comfortably out speeding him and he's done before he can land a single hit. And on top of that, while he does have significantly higher physical defense, his 4x weakness to fire means that even physical fire attacks will bring the pain easily. Basically, anyone who can out speed him and has a fire attack wins...and, quite frankly, that's a staggering amount of pokemon. Still one of my favorite pokemon but objectively while he has a lot of coverage defensively, his one weakness coupled with his lack of speed is a glaring one that he doesn't have much ability to counter.
I had always wanted to try out a rhyperior on a team so when I caught rhyhorn pretty early on I said "why not?". Was not disappointed. Petunia the rhyperior was the GOAT.
My only problem is that Rhyperior is too slow. I usually get 1 agile style and 1 strong style using him as compared to Garchomp with that S-Class speed I can agile style + strong style most pokemons in the game.
Honestly, I reckon you’re severely undervaluing the Eeveelutions - particularly Sylveon. Being able to get Eevee in the first area, then evolving it immediately for a COLOSSAL power boost allows you to completely run away with the early game, while their power allows them to keep up even in the postgame. As for Sylveon specifically, the combination of Mystical Fire and Calm Mind gives it obscene tanking ability, as well as the perfect Fairy/Ghost coverage. The big reason to use it over Gardevoir would be the massive early and mid game power (I evolved my Eevee at just L18 and I wasn’t even grinding friendship explicitly).
Eevee itself would definitely be a solid runner up for this list, as the sheer number of different possibilities for what it can do for your team make it very good, even if it isn't the very best at any one thing.
Sylveon was definitely my second most important mon (behind Scizor) and the most important in the super-early game, and was probably the most used mon overall since it didn't take a ton of time to get like Scizor did. Both are still core team members even well into the post-game, including against a certain spoilery boss that upgrades your flute, which says a lot about how versatile Eevee and it's evolutions really are.
I still think over all these lists you are HEAVILY underestimating hisuian lilligant. The thing is an absolute monster againt anything that isn't a flying type and with its signature move victory dance you can pretty much 1 shot most pokemon. Mine dealt with more than half of volo's team even if the type matchups weren't great just because of its great speed and attack power. You even get it just as early as rosarade so you can spend a large majority of the game with it. I seriously think its the best grass type and one of if not the best pokemon in this game, it's that good at sheer forcing against everything.
@@LexYeen only if you go after that Alpha, other than that getting a petilil and digging up a sunstone in the fieldlands can be done earlier and easier than waiting for a Distortion or spamming the rock nodes in the highlands.
I just realized something huge after deciding to use Umbreon on my team This particular game is more about catching and less about just defeating Pokémon so picking up a defensive Pokémon like Umbreon is important it could take hits and it doesn't immediately destroy your opponent
Good video. I keep forgetting that this game offers a new move pool for most pokemon. I'll probably try out Gardevoir now. I'm really loving Torterra though. It looks amazing as an alpha variant and so far, its been putting in work.
I'm glad Hisuian Goodra got the love it deserved. Got shiny Sliggoo as my first shiny and evolve it into Goodra. Been on my team ever since and will remain on my team
I was really surprised how well Gliscor performed for me. I was not even thinking of having it on my final team but it legit ended up carrying the squad late game!
@@skotiaH2O funny how my leaf blade 2 shot both giratina versions. Trust me man use a Liligant with victory dance and even if it’s not super effective it’ll do a ton
I'm quite annoyed as I felt that PLA nerfed Garchomp by removing access to Earthquake and Swords Dance... AND concurrently introducing Ursaluna and Hisuian Goodra with their types, stats and movepools. Strategically there isn't a reason to bring Chomp anymore if you bring those two, but I do because Chomp is my favourite. Also don't get me started on how Typhlosion's typing isn't that good in-game, especially with high defence alternatives like Driftblim around.
I pretty much agree with the list. Here are some honorable mentions. Empoleon: I caught the Static Alpha on the coast, and it pretty much carried me through the mid/late game. Ice Beam/Flash Cannon/Water Move is pretty much all the coverage you'll need (I had a +ATK nature, so I ran Wave Crash in addition to Hydro Pump). If you could catch it earlier, I would 100% have it in my top ten. Mespirit: Yes. It is post game only, but Recover + Drain Punch means this Pokemon is great at staying alive as long as you can keep its PP up, making it amazing for post game grinding. Driftblim: Strong argument for putting this in a top 10 list, and I wouldn't even call someone crazy for putting it top 5. You can catch it right from the start of the game, and Hypnosis + Mystic Fire makes it great at catching Pokemon in battle. It has the bulk to hang in multiple turns, allowing you to throw a 90% accurate Strong Style Hypnosis against most Pokemon, survive the potential two turns of abuse, and finish the foe off with a Hex. Only one of my original six Pokemon to stay on my team through the entire game. Graveler/Golem: Inferior to Rhyperior (or even probably Rhydon) in the long run, but you can get it much earlier. Graveler is about as good as Rhyhorn, and you can get it in the first area. If you have a friend to trade with, or luck your way into an early link cable, you can have your golem as soon as level 25, almost 20 levels before you can have a Rhydon.
Scizor is a super underrated pick for this game, probably as they added a new Scyther evo with Kleavor. Scizor has amazing typing, great stats, access to bullet punch which is a steel type quick attack that fixes it's one flaw (mediocre speed) making it at least top 5 pokemon in this game. It also gets access to calm mind which boosts physical stats in this game and double hit (which, if used in agile style with bullet punch to follow up, hoo boy).
Surprised by the lack of Scizor on this list. Does take some work to get that damned Metal Coat, but he was undeniably the mvp of my entire playthrough. Phenomenal typing, solid movepool, great stats, and of course access to Calm Mind + False Swipe (which actually do synergize in PLA) for easy mon catching. Sylveon is also something worth mentioning, as it's a very solid fairy-type that you can get extremely early on, thanks to Eevee being available in Obsidian Fieldlands.
In terms of the Gardevoir/Alakazam dispute, I’d honestly put Alakazam way over gardevoir purely for typing. Gardevoir being fairy means it doubles the amout of things its weak to, plus the lack of Speed and Sp Atk generally means its way easier to sweep through a team with Alakazam, with more options to switch into as well. Whilst the movepool of Gardevoir is more diverse, Alakazam can still blast things with Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, Dazzling Gleam and Psychic. If they let him keep Focus Blast he becomes infinitely better in the sense that he has full coverage of any of his weaknesses, just my opinion tho, coming from a SoulSilver all the way up to Ultra Moon player.
"Does Infernape have Drain Punch?" "Yes." "What did it cost?" "(Knowing that Togekiss doesn't have Aura Sphere and Garchomp doesn't have Earthquake) Everything."
I’ve been holding off playing this game because I was busy with some other games on my ps5 , but wow after reaching the post game this game has all my attention. These videos are amazing for helping me make my team. Thank you, you really made me fall in love with Pokemon all over again.
A VERY easy way to get an alpha garchomp pretty quickly is on the outskirts of coronet Highlands next to the ice fields there is a low-ish level alpha gibble ready for the taking and if you get that simply level it up to level 48 easy
My top recommendation is Yanmega. You can catch it right at the start of the Crimson Mirelands, and Yanma is a good level (around 28) when you find it. Evolves in the mid thirties and becomes such a beast. You can catch it with both Air Slash and Hypnosis, Silver Wind suffices until Bug Buzz, and Ancient Power has proven useful. The Sp.Attack+ nature probably helped, but my Yanmega was easily my MVP, it's incredibly fast and hits so hard. If you do another playthrough, absolutely try Yanmega, it rips through so much of what stands in your way, any Battle it had an advantage against was trivial.
It's actually insane how much mileage I got out of Yanmega. Even compared to my other special attackers, Yanmega was always a standout. Air Slash, Silver Wind > Bug Buzz, Ancient Power, and Shadow Ball was her spread for pretty much the remainder of my playthrough.
My favorite is my Unown. It’s hidden power automatically changes to the the type the opposing pokemon is weak against. It’s so weird how I developed an actual bond with my party. I feel guilty when I have to swap them out 😂
Man this my first Pokemon game since emerald version I don't know any of the new pokémons not even the old new ones I just still remembered the original OG pokémons 😂 this about to be fun I just got the game on switch
Recharge is still a thing on Giga Impact and Hyper Beam, it is just hidden by making it mess with turn order now. Also Hissuian Liligant with its Victory Dance dwarfs the usefulness of Roserade imo. Best part is Sun Stone can be dug up by Ursaluna super easy in Obsidian Fieldlands central island area.
For 9, you can also catch it right before quelling the grassy Noble in the Mirelands. For those that went at night, you'd find Alpha Honchcrow and it's flock of Murcrow. During the day though, many Roselia and an Alpha Roserade.
I tried using Roserade and I hated it! It’s so frail that it kept getting KOed over and over… Eventually swapped it for a Kleavor, and he’s been doing much better!
remember I was lucky enough to catch alpha Gardevoir inside that room in Alabaster islands without going into battle. He, Goodra and my super stacked Sylveon cos I love him, shredded the final boss despite none of my pokemon being higher than lvl 75
I didnt think Lickilicky was a good pokemon to have on ur team until this game came out. Since my fav pokemon Banette isnt in the game, Lickilicky is my ace for now and its HELLA strong.
I think Electivire should be on this list. I have a level 100 Aloha with maxed effort levels and stats, and his lowest stat is 242 for Defense, lowered because of his nature. He’s an absolute monster of a mon.
3:06 I found a full-odds shiny Budew my first time in the Crimson Mirelands, and you'd better believe I fully evolved that girl based on your BDSP recommendation. You're just as right here, Dank has been sending alphas to the shadow realm.
Mystic, this is two vids in a ROW that you’ve talked about Roseraid, said where you can get it as a budew/roselia, and failed to mention that you can get an ALPHA ROSERAID in the mirelands! I get the want to train one up but you cannot ignore the power of just catching an alpha, fully evolved, Pokémon.
I'm rocking with: -Driftblim -Decidueye -Ursaluna -Raichu -Goodra -Walrein think it's a fun team, the ground weaknesses are negated by driftblim and walrein is a good switch in with its bulk
Enjoyed that half of these pokemon naturally ended up on my team before watching this. Also at my first visit to those ruins with Ralts and Kirlia, I saw and caught my first shiny ever. It was a Kirlia with a good nature.. safe to say i pumped all the grit items i could find into them and have been having a blast ever since
I've put so many hours in on Goodra and Typhlosion just to watch them get destroyed in every trainer battle and by Alphas. I hope i'm not the only one who is having this problem. I do agree with Gardevoir and Rhyperior for sure though.
@Rui Higuchi CRNY Yeah idk if it's terrible luck or a stat issue but just about every Pokémon I needed him to beat crushed him instead. Even with type advantage
@@supacopper4790 I finally maxed his effort levels out and watched him get smashed by other Alphas last night. It's crazy how wild Pokémon can randomly use Strong and Agile style. I was literally winning and got hit with back to back Earth Power lol. I guess I have terrible luck
I used Roserade for my main grass type for most of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond I love it’s move pool and especially poison type moves you get best of both worlds and if you raise its special def stat as high as you can and a little bit of HP UP its cheese!
I've never experienced video game burn out the way I did with this game. I consider burn out to be when you can't make yourself okay a game that you still wanna play. I went too ham on this game for too many consecutive days and had to take a long break from it. Went back and beat Sword before easing my way back in. This game, while amazing, can get monotonous if you don't pace your play.
There’s an Alpha Rhyperior wandering around Coronet Highlands, not too far from where you can find Rhyhorn, there’s even wild Rhydon wandering around nearby if you can’t catch that Alpha Rhyperior.
Imo i think drifblim should've taken gengar's place with his amazing typing. Yeah sure bite and crunch are everywhere, but he's immune to giga impact, hyper beam and high horsepower is ridiculous. and the fighting typing attacks too. Plus he gets mystical fire and calm mind with amazing HP. Im surprised it didn't get mentioned here.
Could definitely say Blissey has been one of the best tanks I have ever used, having insanely high defensive capabilities. It’s hard boiled ability can heal insane amounts of health. The typing makes it only weak to Fighting, and it’s access to ice beam and flamethrower make for a very well rounded tank that can pack a punch.
I know I said it several times already but hisuian goodra is adorable imo I’d honestly put hisuian goodra as my 9.5 favourite Pokémon right between regular goodra and primarina if I could
Idk if you could say roseraide is as good as hisuian liligant. It has good stab moves and an amazing omniboost on top of having sleep powder for catching in the wild.
Togekiss, with the right moveset, can handle over half of Volos team. The lack of aura sphere is disappointing but it's large versatile movepool justifies it's use in Legends Arceus.
Considering you listed ease for obtaining as one of the factors for "best", I don't think Ursaluna fits in. Either that, or it is so powerful that despite how difficult it is to get a Peat Block, its still that high up
Nice List Mystic! My Top 10 ( In no particular order): Gengar Alakazam Gardevoir Infernape Ursaluna Hisuian Liligant Hisuian Goodra Hisuian Zoaroak Garchomp Kleavor/Scizor
I’m gonna say that my mvp ended up being umbreon! It was fast enough that I could pull off a combo calm mind and dark pulse, but bulky enough to take LITERALLY ANY HIT AT LEAST THREE TO FOUR TIMES.
I really wanted an Alakazam on my team, and at the start of the game, I found a shiny abra. I forgot that saving is a thing and it teleported away... Now it would just feel painful having a normal Alakazam on my team...
I think Torterra is an overlooked option. It is pretty bulky, grass ground is a great offensive STAB with a a very handy electric immunity and it has sleep powder, making torterra good for both attacking and catching Pokémon.
I feel as though umbreon could be an honorable mention. It gets acess to power shift in this gen (which swaps the attack and defense stat) which makes it interesting cause u can go calm mind and either run your usual buff boi or go calm mind at the start of a battle, and the second u get 2 moves in a row (cuz of the agile style/strong style system) you could go into power shift which makes it so u can do some pretty crazy sweeping. Furthermore u can get it pretty early in the game.
For Infernape, you can actually get it early on in the game. I found it in the Obsidian Fields during the 1st level South of the Highlands camp site on a piece of the Mountain. Edit: I should have mentioned it was a lvl14 Monferno not Infernape. Lol
I 100% used ryperior for my whole play thru… literally couldn’t justify taking him out… alpha ryhorn early.. kept him forever. Never even put in the garchomp. 💜
You can find the 1st stage of garchomp inside the cave that the NPC has to light up for you! after he lights the way, head back to one of the small rooms and the 1st stage of garchomp is there (level 15 - 20 ish)
My own top 10 list: Eevee Flareon Leafeon Vaporeon Jolteon Glaceon Umbreon Espeon Sylveon Starter I know Eevee isn't OP but it's SO DAMN CUTE IN 3D BRO COME ON
I'm seeing a lot of praise and love for Umbreon in this comment section. And I cant agree more. I won't say Umbreon is "top tier" or the best. But as an early game tank that you can keep with you and level up to late game, it gets the job done. Can't tell you how many times Umbreon saved me. Even during the Volo fight, Umbreon was surprisingly effective against holding off Giratina so I can heal some of my party. 10/10 probably the best Eeveelution in this game, just for the sheer fact that its bulkiness comes in handy with this games turn order. Jolteon as well, its hilarious getting off 4 turns with this guy lmao
One thing I'll say is that Vaporeon is also busted in this game. Calm mind, Water/Ice coverage, and Rest plus the inflated HP values in this game make it an effective balanced tank. Literally was the ace of my team and hard carried against the toughest bosses. Like it got to the point where it towered over my other mons in level just bc it was surviving far longer in fights despite having more to do. I evenly level my pokemon, but especially at 60s or 70s with auto exp share I'm not going out of my way to catch them all up when they're like 5 levels behind.
My top pick definitely has to be Umbreon. It’s HP and defensive stats are excellent and combined with Snarl and Calm Mind, it is a tank and also good counter to damn near anything using dark pulse/shadow ball. Literally solo’d Arceus with a lvl 81 Umbreon
This game made me feel like Hop from Sword & Shield rotating his team around because 6 ain't enough haha it feels so cool to have an idea of a 'team of 6' I wanted to use, but then out of nowhere I'll catch an alpha or rare spawn Pokemon (or a Pokemon that I didn't even know was in this game) with an EXCELLENT nature and then throw it on the team haha
Another example could be Gary from the Kanto days where he'd catch so many Pokemon and then rotate them around to all get stronger and use them for the right situations.
This game is a blast!
MMB
Same! My team kept changing til I finally chose my final team.
Same! I'm literally so close to the end of the game and I still haven't really decided on my final team. I've picked 4 but I'm constantly changing the last 2!
That Gary part I love Pokémon lol
I never had a real 5th and 6th member of my team as I rotated them out left and right. I wanted to use Hisuian Avalugg but god that typing is just so bad on a defensive pokemon.
Ive only just reached the fourth area. And when I evolved my Kirlia into gardevoir I initially didn’t expect to keep it. Was just raising it. But then I looked at its move pool and was like “dayum, dat versatility doe.”
Good alternation of the d word (thank goodness you did)
It was ryhperior for the dayum moment
Same for me with Goodra. I initally tried it just to see what changes it had, but was totally sold on it. I solo'd the Noble Avalugg just with Goodra
Mine were Gardevoir and Ursaluna, because Ursaluna is just plain a massive upgrade to Ursaring. Ursaluna gets the absurdly broad coverage that’s a signature thing for Normal Types in general, *but then it gets the stats to back up the coverage along with Ground-Type STAB*

I used a drifblim with Hypnosis too. At level 30 I beat the Level 70 alpha Blissey since it died to struggle only knowing normal moves.
Its also ridiculously bulky

a defensive stat distribuition is useless when its typing makes it weak to at least one move on every pokemon type ever. it doesnt even have the ability solid rock to compensate in this game and reduce to 1.5x damage.

Amen, I’m in love with ursaluna
And they removed Earthquake

Espeon may not get the most versatile moveset, but it still gets psychic, dazzling gleam, shadow ball and calm mind and has similar stats to Gardevoir and Alakazam. It carried the team during my playthrough and was a huge part in helping me beat the final battle.
Stumbled upon using Umbreon to start. Wanted to eventually trade it out for Zoroark, but it's such a beast that I kept it. Literally ever alpha I ran into and wanted to catch, I pulled out "old reliable" and snarled them into submission. Happiest accident I've ever made.
I found glacion and jolteon to be really useful
Honestly I think hisuian liligant is incredible with its signiture move
Yeah i'd put lilligant over roserade as best grass type
Agreed
Outright broken TBH but I love it all the same.
4x flying really sucks.
Yeah man finally someone agrees with me h lilligants victory dance will be banned in gen9 I already think it
Gardevoir getting a massive movepool buff is insane. So happy for my favorite pokemon.
I understand Gardevoir being at the top. I still remember the absolute horror I felt trying to catch that Alpha Gardevoir in the game only to discover it knew Recover. I have never been more frustrated with a Gardevoir than in that very moment.
I know it's a bit wonky but gallade in gen9 might have coverage like ice beam for landorus or flamethrower for scizor
And punches are not strong buff em

Seeing my boy Rhyperior on the list made me so happy. I hunted for a Shiny one for hours. Love him.
My only problem is that Rhyperior is too slow. I usually get 1 agile style and 1 strong style using him as compared to Garchomp with that S-Class speed I can agile style + strong style most pokemons in the game.
I can confirm Rhyperior is amazing in Legends Arceus. I've used Rockbreak the Rhyperior for a long time near the postgame, and it wrecked everything 💥
I got a Rypherior early, but I just don't like it's design tbh...
The Ursaluna that I used on my team really pulled its weight. It defeated three of Volo"s Pokemon in that insanely unfair fight against him.
All the fights were extremely easy for me
@@hellfire66683 ooo you’re hard
@@chickenksi2464 this game was extremely easy when it came to the battles if you had issues then maybe try a different team, on a difficulty scale I'd give this game a 3/10 on an enjoyable scale it's off the charts. (And ps how did you know your comment would arouse me so much ;) you're so naughty.)
same here, ursaluna cleaned half of volo's team
Yeah I got that on my torterra pretty decent move
Yep I have that as the ground stab.
Yeah I was just about to comment this lol
Bring up the turn order in battles, it shows you how much different moves change your speed.
@@LexYeen So true, there are some moves that even can give you an extra turn because they increase your action speed but don't outright state it like Quick Attack and the like do. For example- My crobat had two turns so I used one of its weaker moves twice, and was surprised when I ended up with a third turn.
Umbreon has been pretty great in my playthrough. Calm Mind + Snarl is great when you're a tank 🤣
First time using Gengar in a playthrough. I'm falling more in love with it. I'm hoping we can access to link evolution in the next installments.
I fell in love with the ursaring line the same way thanks to ursaluna.
Mystic pls. do a "Favorite Pokemon of each type". U liked my idea before, lol
Mystic: my favorite Psychic & Fairy Type, my wife Gardivior
Don't worry, he's probably doing it right now. It'll come soon, hopefully.
His fav dark type umbreon
Losing abilities nerfed Scizor pretty hard. Technician was a huge part of its appeal.
Umbreon is also goated
Eevee itself would definitely be a solid runner up for this list, as the sheer number of different possibilities for what it can do for your team make it very good, even if it isn't the very best at any one thing.
Used Sylveon in my playthrough on impulse, and regret nothing, such a beast with Calm Mind.
I rocked out a Bidoof for the longest while, next to my accidental first shiny Starly
Carried me through the volo fight
yes lili is obviously the better grass type, this video made me chuckle with the "roserade is the best grass type" lmao
You're right. Roserade is easier to get, though.
@@LexYeen only if you go after that Alpha, other than that getting a petilil and digging up a sunstone in the fieldlands can be done earlier and easier than waiting for a Distortion or spamming the rock nodes in the highlands.
Kreavor as well with it 85 speed and 130 attack it is a beast in my opinion
I just realized something huge after deciding to use Umbreon on my team
This particular game is more about catching and less about just defeating Pokémon so picking up a defensive Pokémon like Umbreon is important it could take hits and it doesn't immediately destroy your opponent
I agree. This is the reason i actually think Goodra should've been no. 1. Strong style shelter is OP.
Ever tried power shift umbreon?
Togekiss is definitely a strong mon in BDSP but in PLA it lacking his ability superluck or serene grace which makes it actually really strong
I was really surprised how well Gliscor performed for me. I was not even thinking of having it on my final team but it legit ended up carrying the squad late game!
Same, easily one of my MVPs
Togekiss honestly deserves to be #1, it's such a carry in the final battle

Togekiss single handedly won me the Volo fight.
My whole team got wiped out except for my starter and Togekiss.

Honestly gardevoir has carried my team a hell of a lot through the game. It’s coverage is amazing
But garivori's move pool is insane
Gardevoir having aura sphere is what sold me. That and mystical fire help it cover all its weaknesses
"Does Infernape have Drain Punch?"
"Yes."
"What did it cost?"
"(Knowing that Togekiss doesn't have Aura Sphere and Garchomp doesn't have Earthquake) Everything."
Removing earthquake from the game was a "decision" for sure...
Seconding this, it's a great all-rounder when you remember you can swap moves for free anywhere you can bring up the satchel menu.
Ok I am using a Yanmega than

@@manuelferraz9817 It might appear in Horizons.
Ursaluna is hands down my fav Pokémon in the game. Love it’s shiny

I’m so glad the done away with trade evolutions 😭 I never had anyone to trade with
I think Electivire should be on this list.
@Rui Higuchi CRNY Yeah idk if it's terrible luck or a stat issue but just about every Pokémon I needed him to beat crushed him instead. Even with type advantage

Level 85 alpha garchomp, get it.
Fun fact: electricity was a shocking discovery
Shiiii, my 2 foot tall Pikachu been carrying my team till the end. Especially when leveling up his stats to 9 each🫠💁🏻♂️
Imo i think drifblim should've taken gengar's place with his amazing typing.

Togekiss is GOAT’d. It and Gastrodan were godly in BDSP for me
Considering you listed ease for obtaining as one of the factors for "best", I don't think Ursaluna fits in. Either that, or it is so powerful that despite how difficult it is to get a Peat Block, its still that high up

Finally, Rhyperior getting some recognition
I’m gonna say that my mvp ended up being umbreon! It was fast enough that I could pull off a combo calm mind and dark pulse, but bulky enough to take LITERALLY ANY HIT AT LEAST THREE TO FOUR TIMES.
Roserade has been my fav to use at #1 in the lineup for a while now its so good
Call me crazy but Bibaril carried my team for most of the game and where Bibaril couldn't fill in the gaps I had Overquil on the side ready to roll
Gyarados was my mvp in my playthrough since stumbled across an alpha magikarp before I fought kleavor. It greatly Complimented my Typhlosion.
I really wanted an Alakazam on my team, and at the start of the game, I found a shiny abra. I forgot that saving is a thing and it teleported away...
Now it would just feel painful having a normal Alakazam on my team...
sry man
I think Torterra is an overlooked option. It is pretty bulky, grass ground is a great offensive STAB with a a very handy electric immunity and it has sleep powder, making torterra good for both attacking and catching Pokémon.
Spoiler Alert
Honorable mentions for Volo’s final battle:
Hisuian Goodra
The evolution of Hisuian Sliggoo
Big gooey snail boi
Dialga
Origin Dialga
I feel as though umbreon could be an honorable mention.
It gets acess to power shift in this gen (which swaps the attack and defense stat) which makes it interesting cause u can go calm mind and either run your usual buff boi or go calm mind at the start of a battle, and the second u get 2 moves in a row (cuz of the agile style/strong style system) you could go into power shift which makes it so u can do some pretty crazy sweeping.
Furthermore u can get it pretty early in the game.
Hmm, I'm pretty sure Hisulian Lilligant should be here. Victory Dance is way OP, plus she gets Drain Punch too
I think I agree with you on that list. 💯 with ursaluna being my favorite pokemon in Lengeds. And my first to hit 100 lvl
For Infernape, you can actually get it early on in the game. I found it in the Obsidian Fields during the 1st level South of the Highlands camp site on a piece of the Mountain.

Yup, rare spawn.

My top 10.
1. Gastrodon
2. Garchomp
3. Kleavor
4. Umbreon
5. Electrivire
6. Decidueye
7. Togekiss
8. Samurott
9. Fire type (infernape, typloshion, magmortar)
10. Goodra
Sorry, but Kleavor sucks.
