Something worth pointing out is the level of Aggro pokemons have. Some are pretty obvious like Starlies being skiddish and Shinx being prone to fight you, but you wouldn't believe when I tell ya a Paras will spot you from very far away and immediatly become hellbent on your demise. Also, Machokes are totally chill xD
We wouldn't believe you? Even though every game related news outlet JUST reported on Paras specifically days ago? Are you sure??? Or the fact that anyone who has played the game knows this already? Are you sure nobody would believe you?
Something I noticed that I haven't seen anyone else mention, is that when you throw the Pokeball, a tall hop means it may not capture, but a short hop of the ball is always a capture. Not really a useful thing I guess, since you can't do anything to change that, but it's nice to know if you caught it a second or two early so you can ready another ball quicker and chain it into oblivion
Also, going into battle and putting something to sleep first, especially after a stun, then trying to catch it seems to give a really high catch rate, even at full hp👍
Another thing I found out playing is if you can't find the wisps then wait until night and fly around above portions of the map and they will be visible and brighter.
I haven't gotten to flying yet, but I basically did the same thing. Sleep till night and the climb to the highest point I can find and just scan around. Can't see them all, but you can definitely spot a lot from a fair distance and that really helped.
I assume it's a glitch but I've noticed that if I've wandered around for a full day/night cycle that the wisps dont seem to despawn after the night ends. I've gotten a few while the sun was up somehow
And sometimes when you throw the ball (only recommend doing this with one of your pokemon, otherwise you waste balls) you might teleport up the hill a little bit. Even before getting wyrdeer you can get basically everywhere in the obsidian fieldlands (except the top of oreburrow cave and the islands) and after getting wyrdeer you can go literally everywhere except the two large islands at the bottom of the map and the island at the centre of the western lake. If you're stubborn enough, no cliff can stop you
one thing you missed; if you initiate combat by a critical throw(aka back stab) then other pokemon aggroing you will leave, leaving you to fight that one mon alone. Specially useful for trying to catch alphas surrounded by adds or in distortions. Also, it's not that you can switch mons for free; switching still costs action speed, it's just that it works like a quick attack with a very high speed modifier, so in most cases it'll be getting you an extra turn... but if you were already on the 2nd move in a row, the enemy is much faster than the mon you're taking out, or they just used an agile move, chances are it won't be enough and the turn will carry over, plus if you had 2 turns in a row, the swap will likely consume one of them.
THANK YOU for that tip of hiding in grass in distortion zones. The actual effort of having to battle 3 high leveled pokemon at once was a pain in the hole.
"It just doesn't make sense to have Autosave in a Pokemon game" Me, Who Lost 3 Hours of Pokedex Progress Because My Game Crashed: Imma have to disagree with you on that
For those grinding with the Blissey, it's only really efficient until about level 80. After that I personally recommend going for the Alpha Garchomp who is at the bottom left of the final area. It is level 85 and gives pretty solid exp all the way up to 100. Just bring a good ice type that can 1 shot cuz it does hit back pretty hard.
I'd like to mention another way to catch Alphas, since this video seems to not think it's a possibility. When I first encountered an Eevee I saw that one of its Pokédex tasks was to feed it 5 times. I had no idea how to feed wild Pokémon yet because the game hadn't said anything about it, so I googled it. Then maybe an hour later I saw my first Alpha. I pretty much always feed every wild Pokémon that I'm trying to catch, including Alphas. You absolutely CAN feed an Alpha and catch it while it's eating. You do not have to stun them or enter enter battle. Plus, feeding the alphas requires only a single food item (I generally use Oran Berries since those are so easily accessible) as opposed to 3-4 Sticky Globs just to stun the Pokémon once.
Been playing since it came out, some things I’ve noticed as well. -The mistwalls on the edge of the map block out MOST things, but light effects go straight through. Nice for finding spirit flakes. -Pokeballs have historically, for me, had a higher catchrate when youre just throwing them at wild pokemon out of battle than great balls. -Ultra balls work on boss pokemon out of battle -Trust your instincts when throwing pokeballs at least once or twice, its a very nice skill to have when they are too far to auto target -Cherrim and cherrubi are nearly impossible to find, because they have very set spawn locations. Look them up -The starters you dont get show up in the distortions, cyndaquil in the mirelands, rowlette in the first mountainous area that I cant remember the name of, and oshawott somewhere else. Also a good thing to look up. -piplup and turtwig both spawn around their own little ponds in the mirelands
The symbols to the right of your attacks during battle also show if the move is effective or not. The dot is neutral, the dot with the circle is super effective, and the triangle is not very effective. Then there's an x which is null. So if you don't need the description of the move you don't have to press y to view effectiveness.
You still need to push Y because almost every single attack has changed greatly. The attack power is different for every move Accuracy is different for every move Augmenting moves changes those values even further And statuses dont function the same anymore either. This is a video for tips we wish we knew at the start of the game, not tips we wish we knew after beating the game. None of us started off knowing that every attack was changed greatly. Additionally, levels dont matter very much in pokemon battles anymore. I ran this game with pokemon 10-25 levels higher than the enemies I was against, and they could still 1-shot me, they could still outspeed me, and I couldn't one-shot them even with super effective attacks. There were times when my level 50 couldn't 1-shot a level 3. There were times when pokemon half or a third my level were dealing half my life in damage from very weak attacks. So levels dont matter much at all, Sure, you have an advantage for being a higher level, but its not near what you think it is. In normal pokemon games, being 5 levels above the enemy guaranteed that you would win except for very powerful pokemon like elite 4 or gym leaders main pokemon. But in this, you don't have to be afraid to battle the level 30-45 Alpha pokemon with your team of level 10s. You can win. Pokemon that get knocked out wont get experience though, so weigh the risk reward. And be very careful dying, because its way worse in this game than any other game, normally you just lose money, but in this game you lose your revives and ultra balls too. Something else I wish i knew, at a certain point, im not sure when, you talk to the professor in jubilife city, he gives you theo ther starter pokemon. Maybe you have to complete the main storyline, but you should look it up to know exactly when you can trigger this, I didnt even try until I was already done with the game. Theres a flying gyarados flying over the waterfall in obsidian firelands. If you have the swimming mount from the 3rd area, you should go back to the firelands, and you can capture level 50 Alpha Magikarp that is auto-catch, cant escape, and cant win a fight against you, then you auto evolve it into a level 50 Alpha Gyarados, which will be strong enough to carry you through the entire rest of the game, because the highest level enemy you can ever fight is only in their 60s and thats post game content. There are level 70 wild pokemon and legendaries, but by the time you get to that point your level 50 Alpha will be 80. there's a level 85 Alpha Garchomp in the alabastar place, capture it as soon as you can, its the most powerful pokemon in the game next to Arceus. Obviousl theres tons of other level 70 Alphas, but i'm just pointing out the strongest one, and the easiest one, that you can acquire easily to carry you. I don't know if you can catch it, but theres an alpha zoroark that guards one of the lake spirits. Look up if you can catch it or not, because, i have never found another one and i knocked it out by accident. Dont bother buying evolution items. Just run into time distortions and mount up and run through it picking up items, you can loot items without dismounting. Do this and you'll have tons of free evolution items. By the time I got enough back packs to buy something, I already had 3 of everything from time distortion events, you dont need to be afraid of high level pokemon, just run through looting the shards on the ground. And buy the recipe for Star Piece, it uses 3 of each shard and 1 stardust to make star piece which sells for 5000. You can also find nuggets which sell for 10,000, and i'm not sure how but I managed to find comets too that sell for 15,000. You can sell most of your star dust because you wont get very many shards, but always leave yourself with like 10 star dust and sell the rest for max profits. towards the end of the game materials dont cost much. You can buy 100 of apricorns, tumblestone, black tumblestone, and it will only be a few thousand each. buying 100 of the iron will cost you 20,000, which is how you can make 50 ultra balls. Once you have 100,000 dollars, i'd say prices dont matter to you anymore aside from the experience candies which I only used to evolve espeon umbreon and sylveon. Theres an evee that spawns directly left of the very first area in obsidian firelands, right past the shinx. it always spawns. Farm it to get your team of Eevees to start the game with, who needs starter pokemon? When you can have 6 eevees as your starter. You can also catch them in time distortion events.
Tip for later in game once you get braviary, instead of fast travelling maps use braviary to fly low over it and you might find a shiny. I’ve gotten like 5 with that method while going to or from a mass hoard
Another small tip if you haven't seen it already, but if you put at least one pokemon in each of your pastures/boxes, it increases the number of pastures/boxes you have up until 29 from 8.
Another tip I think is REALLY good for early game is there's a quest where a guy in the village tells you about a game you can play in the practice field. If you do that game which is a target practice one depending on your score you can get really good items early on like sticky globs and great and ultra balls. Even nuggets and stardust to help with your money situation. I did that game enough times that I had over 60 great balls and around 40 ultra balls before you can even get them (depending on your rank) in game to craft. Like before you even go to the Crimson Mirelands early. You just get a wide variety of useful items and the game doesn't really tell you about it
How far from the end of the story am I if I just now got that quest (and just unlocked riding the wyrdeer)? I’ve already logged like 15 hours, I’m not sure if I’m just going really slow or if the story is really long lol
@@meo2640 yeah the more stuff you get early on the easier it'll make it later on for you. Also another tip for pretty early on is whenever you're able to go to a new area (like past the Obsidian Fieldlands to a brand new area) as soon as you get access to them come back to the village and get the quests from there. There's a pattern to where once you unlock a new area the major stores in the area like the item shop and the clothing store and even the farm area give you new requests in other for them to expand their inventories. In the farm's case it unlocks new fields as you progress. So always make sure to check for new requests as you progress. You get some pretty good rewards and shop inventory increases from doing some of them and they barely take much time to do. The item shop guy asks you to bring him 3 of an item and the clothing store lady asks you to bring her specific pokemon to her for her to look at. Also with the pokemon that people ask you to bring them (like the guy that asks you to bring him a wurmple in the request introduction) in very few cases you don't actually have to have the pokemon in your party. You just have to have one period and you can select it from your pastures and show them. If they actually keep the pokemon then there's a thing that asks you if you're sure about it first
@@idogdude you've got a long ways to go. That's about the amount of time I had cause I went around and pretty much caught everything there was to catch and gathered a ton of resources. The story is decently long
One thing I noticed was missing here but I think is very important to note is that with the satchel system if you die and drop your items if you don't have Nintendo online your satchel actually won't show up for other people and you won't get it back.
@@jollyjungle eh, most of the stuff is pretty easily recoverable as you progress through the game. Especially near the end of the game. Not a huge deal
@@jollyjungle I only ever died once in my playthrough besides a couple of the frenzied fights. It was from finding out there is fall damage in this game lmao
Here’s one tip I learned while playing. Go do it though, you need to have a Pokémon that has mastered a move, such as quick attack or shadow sneak, that inherently boosts your action speed. Normally, using an agile attack twice in a row won’t give you anymore action speed than before. However, you can get three moves in one turn if you attack with an action speed-raising move, such as quick attack, use the move again in agile style (this being your second move), then attack with another move on your third attack. This effectively gives you three attack opportunities in one turn.
Here's one that I truly appreciate in this game. Many occasions, villagers ask you for a pokemon. Whatever pokemon you give, will be the exact model that will be shown. So if you give an alpha Parasect to the guy who asks for it, he will then have a giant alpha parasect in his home. What's more is that they retain their nicknames. Lastly, villagers usually will have unique dialogue for when being given alpha pokemon. Sometimes they may decline saying they're not ready, blah blah blah, but often this give you a fun way to customize the village.
With the interacting with your party section, along with A and B, you can also press Y for a sorta determined, battle ready stance and they do the same at you :)
I was dumbfounded when I first realized (post-game btw) that you could get grit items by releasing your Pokemon and no one in the game ever tells you. That's such a good way to grind those, especially when you're doing a bunch of mass outbreaks!
@@NeCoruption Wich I always do. People be playing pokemon like them asshole hunters back in the day shooting buffallos from moving trains for the heck of it and to starve the natives. Why would you confine something in a pokeball if you have no use for it?
When chatting with your Pokemon you can also press the Y button for an enthusiastic/get pumped kind of emote! Great video, thanks for the tips! Especially turning off the music. I had no idea that shiny Pokes made a sound when they spawned!
Loving this game! I have over 26 hours in and just gained access to the 2nd area of the map as a 4 star Galaxy Team Rank. Yea, I have a bad habit of completing ALL side missions and exploring every inch of the map before I progress in the story. I've done it with every open world game I've ever played and it usually results in me being way overpowered going into fights but o well. I'm having a blast with this game so far..
personally I think that's how the devs meant for the game to be, they want you to get side tracked instead of focusing on the story and they did it so well
OK, so I'm doing this too, and I've actually found that I'm having the most fun by level capping (lvl 30 right now) and switching up my team once my pokemon get too over-leveled. I'm playing right now with just 3 specific mons that I never would have used otherwise, and it's been a great little mini-challenge inside a larger context.
I’d say one of the best things you can do to increase catch odds is to look at their Pokédex page, check what their favorite foods are, then use that type of food as a rice cake. Honey cakes are usually universal and help get you a green poke catch rate.
Not if you don’t fill up four pastures. I was releasing my Pokémon every time and could have gotten to 4 pastures to unlock the multi release sooner if I had just kept all the Pokémon until it hit 4 pastures.
@@jamiemeicheng6589 you're right, it doesn't tell you if you never unlock it. But if you haven't unlocked it, why would it tell you? Not to mention if you never have 4 full boxes, you're probably releasing Pokemon way too often for it to matter anyway, or not catching enough for it to matter. Complaining about it is like complaining that you don't get more pastures until you fill the first 8 enough.
You have no idea how helpful this video is. I’ve been grinding and feel like it’s such a hard game but you’ve made it much more enjoyable. Thank you so much.
I know you don't get a lot comments at times but I just wanted to say I love your channel and keep up the great work because I share with my friends and we are all shocked you don't have more subscribers and viewers, you're super helpful!
What good job? Dude literally made a video claiming the game doesn't tell you about any of this in the video, when it literally tells you 95% of what this video talks about, he cut corners for a crap video
biggest tip for me was the shiny hunting - if you want that pokemon shiny first complete it's full pokedex page (if possible), then go to the outbreak and start that reset process.
6:20 you can also feed Blissey some pinap berries before battling it, as they raise the amount of EXP you gain once caught (you will have to catch the Blissey instead of just knocking it out, but that won’t result in any less EXP)
I have over 200 hours in this game, and not gonna lie, a few of these tips were new even to me. I really appreciate this video. Everything was straight to the point and super helpful. You're awesome, man.👍🏻
Fun fact: you can defeat Blissey as soon as you get Wyrdeer. I don’t know if it’s a known thing but I found the Blissey before even finding Kleavor. Wyrdeer is very broken
Another tip is to Use Cakes on higher leveled Pokémon. And especially pay attention to what type of cake the Pokémon likes. You can find a Pokémon's favorite treat on your Pokédex if you already have registered data on them. If you throw their favorite cake, they will eat them for much longer than any regular berry and their catch difficulty will go from orange to green, giving you a chance to sneak behind them, use a heavy ball and immediately catch them.
Tip for mass releasing pokemon: you need to progress through the game and level up your star rank... mass releasing pokemon can award you items for EV TRAINING...
Regarding the multirelease: This feature does not just appear - she tells you that she made it possible for you to use. Also before: The one pokemon u released by using x always had that ✓-sign so it was not a big surprise for this to be unlocked :D Rather like: WHY ONLY NOW???
Towards the end of the vid, when interacting with a pokemon you can also press y. Doing that lets the protagonist do a confidence boosting kinda movement towards the pokemon. A is just a simple talk and b, as the vid mentioned is this head nod you can do. But seems they didnt know about you could interact with the pokemon with y as well
The heavy balls are better used for catching Pokemon from behind you just have to get closer since you can't throw them as far so use stealth spray first
When talking about the weaknesses and strengths, you can actually see an icon next to the moves you have in battle; a triangle and the circle. It's the same symbol on the type chart and it explains what pokemon move would be better against the other pokemon. You can also hover over said move, and at the very top of the info bar, it will state "Effective," "Super Effective," "Not very Effective," respectfully.
Actually unlocking the multiple release mechanic doesn’t go by boxes filled but rather Pokémon caught. You can have other Pokémon in other boxes, but they don’t need to be filled; just so long as you have caught 120 Pokémon.
Yup. I had the game crash after 40 hours. I lost zero progress because of autosave. I even had the Pokemon I had caught a few seconds earlier. Turning off autosave in any video game is horrible advice.
I’ve never completed a Pokémon game before but I’ve already put 16 hours into this one after about a week of owning it, safe to say this is a contender for my favourite game on the switch, thanks for the tips
For the trade Pokémon, I can say that it only pertains to the Pokémon that don’t require an item [ie Machamp, Gengar, etc]. Pokémon like Rhyperior or Magmortar still need their respective items to evolve
When in battle and you want to swap pokemon, you can shift through with L & R, and swap with ZR like when you throw them at the start. I found it's quicker
Personally I realized how helpful autosave in this game can be - I had around 6 gamecrashes so far, 2 of them very annoyingly after having found around 20 of these lights for spiritomb. Running around with autosave now as long as I don't encounter a shiny
Yeah, I generally keep autosaves on for a newly released game in case of crashes that devs aren’t able to fix yet. I’ve had one crash on this game from start till finish
Tips I have that I am not hearing anyone talk about that have been extremely helpful to me on this second run through in this game are this... I think this goes without saying, but shinx is without a doubt the most important pokemon you capture in the early game. Using the move trainer lady, teach him all of the fang moves and he is your most versatile, and hard hitting pokemon on the team for a good amount of time, and for a relatively cheap cost. People are sleeping on buisel and ponyta though who are great early fires and waters in their own right, and kleavor is weak to water attacks so busiel is really good in the first area. Also driflim is really powerful early game as well, be sure you move train ominous wind on him, and he comes packed with hypnosis, confusion, ominous wind and 3 really useful immunities (normal, fighting, and ground moves.) He's a very good special attacker until Abra comes into your party, both of whom compliment your party very well. Throwing pokemon (not pokeballs, but pokemon) at enemies backs, which is called a stun attack, allows you to always get 1, and sometimes 2 free attacks in before they get unstunned. This ability gives you the power to take on pokemon that are significantly higher level than yours without losing, or even injuring your pokemon. This is a great way to earn fast experience as you progress naturally in the game, instead of running towards 1 spot with hi level pokes and fighting them repeatedly. Pokemon that 'participate' in battles earn double the experience. Example, use a stun attack by throwing your abra at the alpha staravia, or alpha kricketot, both of whom are found west of the second base camp that you create. You will start the battle with the stunned staravia/kricketot, then switch out your abra with your bidoof/Shynx and thunderfang/icefang/firefang/Rollout the poke and you will kill it. Your abra will receive double the experience for participating in the fight, and alphas give boosted exp, so expect it to evolve real quickly doing the stun attack technique. The first area you go to, you can actually catch a magicarp legitimately (which I mean by 'legitimately' is this: you don't have to do any wyrdeer cheap mountain hopping to get to an area you are not supposed to be in at the current stage of the game...) This magicarp is caught at level 15, and you can get him before you ever even get to Cleavor! at the top right of the map, there appears to be 2 bridges. You want to go to the bridge that faces more towards the North East, and keep following that path past the geodudes, and whenever you are right by the alpha graveler look at the shore of the lake and you'll see some level 14-16 magicarp... That's a gyarados in 4 levels, and if you continue to head south on your map, you can perform rock smash into the oreburgh cave and snag yourself some machops as well. Carp and the machop line... Not a bad start at all if I do say so myself. The 2nd area you go to is in my opinion the most difficult to navigate in the game considering the lack of cover and the stressful hard hitting alphas and the aggressive pokes all over every area... But there are 2 pokemon hiding in plain site right after you create the camp in the middle of the map that will help you A LOT. In the swampy area that has the alpha Skuntank in the middle of it, there is a non alpha, level 34 Skuntank whenever heading towards the diamond camp. BUT while you are in the same swamp area, you hug the mountains on the right and you can find a level 34 hippowdon. Catching both of these mons will help you quite a bit considering the skuntank will have night slash and flamethrower and the Hippowdon has High horsepower, rockslide, Crunch, and ice fang. Skuntank has exceptional typing and well rounded stats, while Hippowdon has a ridiculous defense, HP, and attack stat, and is only a ground type, not a rock/ground type. He also has a better special defense stat than rhyperior/golem so in lots of ways he is safer to use because he lacks the rock typing. These 2 pokes are such a power boost to your team, and are hidden in plain site, I see them both as absolute must haves.. The 3rd area has an Alpha level 51 Chansey on a little island to the right of the second camp camp you make in the dead tree area.... Well just to the south of that camp are Staraptor you can catch who all have close combat, as well as, an Alpha Machoke on the beach, and if you throw a pokemon at the Chansey's back (or any pokemon for that matter) and you get the 'stun strike' you will always get 1 free hit in. Using Staraptor, hit him with Close Combat and you will be leveling anything you have in your party way faster than anything else you can do at this point of the game, all of which is legitimate. The 4th area of the game has the pokemon that I think is the most slept on. Gliscor.. Gligars are all over the place, but Gliscor is my favorite tank in this game, just catch him and use him and give him his best moves for the situation and he will serve you as good as Rhyperior can. He has a ground and electric immunity while also being a ground type who takes neutral damage to grass moves instead of the usual super effective. Also, even though earth power is a special move, It's still a great move to have on him considering he now hits a stab ground 80 power move that's special based, and considering the rock pokemon all over this area are physical walls, Gliscor will be killing them with this move because he is hitting them with his stab 80 power special move and they are using their special defense to defend against it, so it doesn't matter that it is a special move. Everyone hates parasect, and I don't blame them, but he learns spore at level 40 which is a 100 percent accurate sleep move, and this can really help you catching tough pokemon by using the stun attack I talked about earlier. Lots of alphas have healing moves, but if they keep falling asleep than they are not healing anything. He is worth considering just for the move spore, and he may be the only pokemon in the game to learn this broken move. And yes he gets energy ball and not leaf blade as his best grass based move, but you have to remember that you probably won't be using this move against pokemon who have a high special defense stat. As long as their special defense is bad and you hit them with your special move, you are still likely to defeat them in one hit. If you are going to use Sylveon (I HIGHLY recommend her, I think she is the best eeveelution in the game) then you have to use mystic fire on her. This attack, as well as snarl on Umbreon, lowers the opposing pokemons attack after they hit, turning them into an instant tank and makes these 2 eeveelutions the best ones in the game. The following pokemon are, in my opinion, the most slept on pokemon in the game: Umbreon, Gliscor, Machop/Choke/Champ, Tentacruel, Alpha Empoleon, Ambipom, Scizor, Hippowdon, Heracross, Yanmega and Parasect. Nobody talks about these top tiers, and if you can't think of a poke that could help you in your current situation, then 1 of these pokes may just be the one that fills that gap on your team. Capturing wild pokemon is usually better than fighting them. Capturing rewards you equal experience as if you fought them, but is way faster since you are still out in the field on the move. Capturing nets you more money whenever you turn in to the professor before going back into the city, and capturing pokemon puts them in the pastures meaning they can be released later for grit rocks, none of which is available if you attack pokemon/bypass them.. Taking down alphas is a safer way to gain experience in regards to alphas specifically, although I usually go for the sneaky approach to catching Alphas and therefor lose no pokes. Alphas net you more experience (although you can catch them of course) which nets you this huge powerful overlevelled pokemon on the team, but just expect to lose most of your team and use lots of pokemon trying to catch them. It's usually worth it to try and catch pokemon around you as you move forward.
Outbreaks dont guarantee 25 of that pokemon spawning, it varies from outbreak to outbreak, I dont think I've seen a single outbreak spawn 25 different pokemon yet and I've almost completed the dex
2 things i found not mentioned here. 1- in battle you can switch pokemon by cycling with L and R and then hitting R2 ito send the one you want. 2- you can complete all the pokedex food entries on a single pokemon. So that alpha snorlax in the starting area xan be used for all 50 times. Just hide on the hill and make sure not to hit him directly. And hold off on throwing aditional food until they're almost done with the one they're working on Side note.. not sure if just me but when i had 4 or more alpha's in my group the space-time distortions completely quit appearing
It's like you actually have to play the game to know things, I loved seeing streamers confused about things explained on the HUD, like mass release. The game does tell you!!
I have seen so many lists like this talking about "things the game doesn't tell you" and then it lists something the game Very Much tells you. i saw one where it was complaining about how the game doesn't explain the map of all things!
I’m very glad to see this trend where games don’t hold your hand over the last 10 or so years. From dark souls to Breath of the Wild to Pokémon Legends and some others, it seems we’re returning towards the difficulty of old-school games :)
I remember seeing streamers be like, "OMG it's so hard to aim wtf is this game", because they didn't realize they can lock on with ZL and switch targets with A. Both explained on the HUD hahq
Just goes to show how prevalent the whole "skip over tutorials, don't read text" issue is. The game gives a prompt or tutorial on how to do something, RUclipsrs and streamers especially skip through them without paying attention because they "know how to play video games", then they fail miserably because they don't know how to play the game properly, complain about "missing" features that are actually there, complain the game "doesn't" explain features they skipped tutorials for, and tons of videos appear about useful tips that are full of things stated in game or learned just checking your settings or menu (which really should be one of the first things people do in a game, like pressing buttons to see what they all do)
Great guide. Actual useful info, rather than these other videos from other people that are like "You can go back and visit other areas with your new mounts!" Like no DUH. This was great!!
I just want to say, your quality and explanation is far beyond your subscriber count. You deserve so much more and I hope you get to 1M because it’s deserved :)
So a few of these are ones you just need to pay a bit of attention to the game. It Does tell you you can mass release, move stuff to your item box, ect.
One thing I learned is that if you want to change your Pokemon or throw a ball mid-battle, you don't have to use the D-pad. You can use the L/R buttons to cycle through your Pokemon or ball options, X to switch between the two sets, and ZR to select one.
Something interesting is also, when you defeat a trainers first Pokemon they usually can attack with the second one before you get a chance to do anything, that's how Volo and I traded oneshots in the last battle with him
I think if you try to finish off a trainer’s Pokémon with an agile attack that’ll help with not being attacked immediately by the trainer’s next Pokémon.
There is also another animation you can cause when you talk to your pokemon. You can make them do their "pumped up" animation if you press Y while talking to them.
I don't think it has been a "bad job" explaining the harvesting system. They just didn't want to explain it to make it more "natural/mystical" imo. Yeah, it sucks for a pro-gamer, but I'm glad to see some aspects of the early games coming back (mystery).
Okay so all tips here are great but MY GOD. When you said you can move all items at once between satchel/storage, my brain broke. I have been so fed up with having to go into the options, then going down, then choosing "move all", etc. I move my items around a lot, so this was probably the most helpful and maybe obvious tip you gave lol.. You just saved me some grief!
Love the game, completed the dex/have 32 shinies so far, going for a full shiny dex - my only real complaint is not being able to have more than 1 Pokémon in the studio/how quickly they fall asleep if you try line them up in the open world 😅
@@grottonesquelad1421 I've made a start on that, only got Alpha shiny Herrocross and Alpha shiny Electrivire so far, don't think I'm going to commit to that though as Spiritomb is going to take even longer to get 😂
I've found that smoke bombs provide the best cover besides the tall grass. When alphas have no natural cover around them the smoke comes in handy to get around them to catch them.
Everyone: shocked you could catch 3 pokemon back to back. Me: Casually walking around with a full team of fully evolved kaiju sized pokemon. XD god i love alpha's
I feel like most of these tips, like the very first one, are things you would have known if you paid attention to the dialogue in-game as well as the tool tips. Almost all of these things were mentioned in-game.
thanks so much for the farming tip!! i couldn’t find how long it took for the crops to grow, only what the different crops did. so i really appreciate it!
I have one tip I wish I knew earlier! So, I’m a n00b in the frenzy encounters, where you throw balms. I saved before and turned off the game when I lost. But, if you wait, a menu pops up where you can choose to quit or RESUME battle! AND even choose to resume with the dealt damage already there! GAMECHANGER for me!
I've played almost all of the previous pokemon games and I have to say, this one really does have enough missions to keep me entertained for a long time. Especially completing all of the pokedex. Catching so many of each one etc. The only pain in the A is having to release all of them once caught.
The game does actually tell you about the multi release function, but as triggering the tutorial is one of those blink and it's gone types, I can understand why you don't remember it. Cable links are items you can obtain via Time Distortions. Also, you can change out your Pokémon using the Z buttons to to rotate the highlighted Pokémon and X button to trigger the switch dialogue. The down arrow on the analog cross pad gives you the full screen version of this option though.
Well honestly if you’re out and about catching everything like a madman before returning to town and playing the game as an open world explore-‘em up-catch-‘em-all-athon like they want you to then the hidden mass release feature is obtained by like your second or third trip into the fields. I got caught up in the majesty of being able to spam catch Pokémon since balls were literally infinite with next to no effort in this game, by the time I went back to town for the very first time after the tutorial I had mass release and was like three star (maybe 2 I don’t remember that part exactly)
Great video! I didn’t know a fair few of these tips, despite having already beaten the main story and all the post-game content. 😅 However, one thing I’ll note is that the battles available in the Training Grounds doesn’t appear to give you access to most of the important NPC combatants in the game. Rather, it just seems to provide access to the NPC combatants who are present in Jubilife Village. So it mainly only includes characters who are a part of the Galaxy Team, but not characters like Volo, Adaman, or Irida. I wish more of the NPCs were accessible there to fight; there really isn’t a lot of variety, with only 7 NPCs to fight, total.
It just hit me. Legends is like one big awesome safari zone. Throw stuff at pokemon, then the ball. All without having to do much battling. Great video by the way. Very insightful. 👍🏻👍🏻
I learned most of these the hard way, however I didn't know about Blissy! I do believe there is also a alpha blissy in the snowy mountains- which is where I caught mine. Not sure if it's a set alpha there though.
I know which one you're talking about. The first time I saw it it was alpha, but it turns out that it's just a regular blissey that spawns there normally.
After 90hrs I'm still on zone 2 in the story as I been just running around having fun.. All tips I figured out, expect I didn't know there was a mass release option.. Does it only work at the pastor or once unlocked can use it at the base camp? Also for the Alphas you don't have to go back, lot of them will respawn by just resting for a whole day. So if morning, rest until night, the rest until morning. How I been farming Roseade right now in zone 2.
@@TheQjad135 That was not the question. The question was, can you mass-release pokemon from any base camp out in the field? Or do you have to release them in town in order to use the mass release feature.
You've got nearly the same exact clothes set up as me lol. I was scrolling through my recommendation feed and saw your thumb nail and my knee jerk reaction was to outloud, mumble, "Yo. This guy stole my f****** drip. Who the hell does he think he is?" Great video btw 👍🏼
Crafting: I haven't tested this in the town but if you craft at the base camps using their crafting box you don't have to move the necessary items you've thrown into your box to your inventory before hand. Super helpful if you want to bring your inventory down to just barebones bc you have a collecting problem, like my "friend" does >.> I don't think I've seen this tip anywhere else yet.
I love the interaction behavior of pokemon like just throwing your pokemon out in a circle where they can all see each other they will have their own kinda group conversation taking turns looking at each other and making noises. Also you pokemon will interact with other characters pokemon.
What I wish I knew before pre ordering the game is that if you have a save file of diamond and or pearl you can get quests to get darkrai and or shaymin.

Something worth pointing out is the level of Aggro pokemons have.
Also, going into battle and putting something to sleep first, especially after a stun, then trying to catch it seems to give a really high catch rate, even at full hp👍
ahhhh that makes sense because if the pkmn is still strong to be captured the balls hop higher & vice versa

You can walk up hills fast if you hold your pokeball in your hand. Your character won’t do the slow walk.
WHAAAAT
Really? That's awesome
Truth? I gotta try that
And sometimes when you throw the ball (only recommend doing this with one of your pokemon, otherwise you waste balls) you might teleport up the hill a little bit. @@Mezchano "The Pokemon fan is weak, hurry, throw a quick-to-the-pointball!"
Exactly. That was efficient as hell.
one thing you missed; if you initiate combat by a critical throw(aka back stab) then other pokemon aggroing you will leave, leaving you to fight that one mon alone.

For those grinding with the Blissey, it's only really efficient until about level 80. After that I personally recommend going for the Alpha Garchomp who is at the bottom left of the final area.
-Ultra balls work on boss pokemon out of battle
-Trust your instincts when throwing pokeballs at least once or twice, its a very nice skill to have when they are too far to auto target
-Cherrim and cherrubi are nearly impossible to find, because they have very set spawn locations. Look them up
-The starters you dont get show up in the distortions, cyndaquil in the mirelands, rowlette in the first mountainous area that I cant remember the name of, and oshawott somewhere else. Also a good thing to look up.
-piplup and turtwig both spawn around their own little ponds in the mirelands
-and in the coastlands
-Sell yo mastery seeds, youll get rich

The symbols to the right of your attacks during battle also show if the move is effective or not. The dot is neutral, the dot with the circle is super effective, and the triangle is not very effective. Then there's an x which is null. So if you don't need the description of the move you don't have to press y to view effectiveness.
Did you notice that some moves, despite being of the sort that shouldn't have any effect, like Hypnosis is Psychic, and still works on Dark types.
@@BJCMXY statuses are weird like that. I think the only status move that doesn't work because of typing is thunder wave against ground types.
@@Hitman9305 I think that poison, sleep and paralysis powder don’t effect grass types.
You still need to push Y because almost every single attack has changed greatly.
The attack power is different for every move
Accuracy is different for every move
Augmenting moves changes those values even further
And statuses dont function the same anymore either.
I mean, they even show you the type advantages and disadvantages near the start. If you paid attention youd notice the symbols are used in the chart
Tip for later in game once you get braviary, instead of fast travelling maps use braviary to fly low over it and you might find a shiny. I’ve gotten like 5 with that method while going to or from a mass hoard
Oh my word, knowing the amount of pokemon to catch for the harvests to be done is a game changer
Another small tip if you haven't seen it already, but if you put at least one pokemon in each of your pastures/boxes, it increases the number of pastures/boxes you have up until 29 from 8.
well that's awesome tips, thanks dude
Another tip I think is REALLY good for early game is there's a quest where a guy in the village tells you about a game you can play in the practice field. If you do that game which is a target practice one depending on your score you can get really good items early on like sticky globs and great and ultra balls. Even nuggets and stardust to help with your money situation. I did that game enough times that I had over 60 great balls and around 40 ultra balls before you can even get them (depending on your rank) in game to craft. Like before you even go to the Crimson Mirelands early. You just get a wide variety of useful items and the game doesn't really tell you about it
Wow, great tip! I just started playing today, so I'll definitely take advantage of that. 😁

FYI: A, B, and Y respectively all have different interaction animations with your mons . Great video by the way!
And the retain their shininess! Imagine a town full of shiny alphas-
With the interacting with your party section, along with A and B, you can also press Y for a sorta determined, battle ready stance and they do the same at you :)
I was dumbfounded when I first realized (post-game btw) that you could get grit items by releasing your Pokemon and no one in the game ever tells you. That's such a good way to grind those, especially when you're doing a bunch of mass outbreaks!

Yea, I have a bad habit of completing ALL side missions and exploring every inch of the map before I progress in the story. I've done it with every open world game I've ever played and it usually results in me being way overpowered going into fights but o well. I'm having a blast with this game so far..

Same except I’m 8 star 😬
OK, so I'm doing this too, and I've actually found that I'm having the most fun by level capping (lvl 30 right now) and switching up my team once my pokemon get too over-leveled. I'm playing right now with just 3 specific mons that I never would have used otherwise, and it's been a great little mini-challenge inside a larger context.
The release multiple & move all at once options are such quality of life additives we've been needing in the games forever.
I’d say one of the best things you can do to increase catch odds is to look at their Pokédex page, check what their favorite foods are, then use that type of food as a rice cake. Honey cakes are usually universal and help get you a green poke catch rate.
The game actually does tell you about multi releasing Pokemon once you have four pastures 😂
exactly.

Yeah and it always said "release selection"?
You don't actually have to fill the boxes, you just need to catch enough to fill four boxes. It counts the ones you release beforehand.
I saw somewhere that if you have a Buizel and you crouch down, they’ll “boop snoots” with you, definitely a cute lil interaction!
I'd recommend keeping autosave as the game has crashed for me and others randomly. Just turn it off when you find a shiny or b4 a big event.
I have 50 hours and it hasn’t crashed. Have you updated the game?
Just save manually especially if you feel like you get some good progress. Manual saving is not that hard and long tbh. Super easy. :)
Had the same problem 😳
Yup. I had the game crash after 40 hours. I lost zero progress because of autosave. I even had the Pokemon I had caught a few seconds earlier.
Turning off autosave in any video game is horrible advice.
@@watcherjoshua until you fail a shiny hunt
I’ve never completed a Pokémon game before but I’ve already put 16 hours into this one after about a week of owning it, safe to say this is a contender for my favourite game on the switch, thanks for the tips
For the trade Pokémon, I can say that it only pertains to the Pokémon that don’t require an item [ie Machamp, Gengar, etc]. Pokémon like Rhyperior or Magmortar still need their respective items to evolve
They all require rare items but at least you don't need to trade. You could find all of those in a space-time distortion.
“Things I wish I knew earlier” :catch every Pokémon you see
When in battle and you want to swap pokemon, you can shift through with L & R, and swap with ZR like when you throw them at the start. I found it's quicker
The only reason I ever do it the other way is when I need to go and view all my team’s move sets to see what moves will be effective.
You can do the same with using Pokeballs as well
Personally I realized how helpful autosave in this game can be - I had around 6 gamecrashes so far, 2 of them very annoyingly after having found around 20 of these lights for spiritomb.
Running around with autosave now as long as I don't encounter a shiny
That’s crazy I haven’t gotten a single crash nor has my gf
Yeah, I generally keep autosaves on for a newly released game in case of crashes that devs aren’t able to fix yet. I’ve had one crash on this game from start till finish
I'm at 40 hours + and havent had a single one. Autosaves and Pokemon just feels wrong.
Caught 2 shiny Eevee’s in a single outbreak yesterday… shits crazy
can you trade me one? i have a shiny mukrow
For me it seems to be 10 on average.
Yeah 25 is massively overestimating. It's typically more like 9-12.
12, I counted.
Thank you for the distortion tip. I usually run around like an idiot trying to find good items and see what Pokémon spawned
And hold off on throwing aditional food until they're almost done with the one they're working on
Side note.. not sure if just me but when i had 4 or more alpha's in my group the space-time distortions completely quit appearing
Po. ..
Finally, someone who put effort in his PLA vidéo. Thank you.
I just want to say, your quality and explanation is far beyond your subscriber count. You deserve so much more and I hope you get to 1M because it’s deserved :)
I think we have enough versions, this is the direction future pokemon games should go while introducing new content
@@jimmulator3902 im nur sure if the agile move would have killed it in one Hit tho, I was basically the same level
@@S_mitty yeah it won’t always work, but if you use super effective agile moves it will help
Love the game, completed the dex/have 32 shinies so far, going for a full shiny dex - my only real complaint is not being able to have more than 1 Pokémon in the studio/how quickly they fall asleep if you try line them up in the open world 😅
Then you gotta go for a full shiny AND alpha dex... but good luck not spending months on that one.
@@grottonesquelad1421 I've made a start on that, only got Alpha shiny Herrocross and Alpha shiny Electrivire so far, don't think I'm going to commit to that though as Spiritomb is going to take even longer to get 😂
i randomly got the urge to restart this game its so dope
0:20 im pretty sure the daycare lady tells you that you can multi release after you catch a bunch of pokemon
The bandit trio will actually give you 4 nuggets in the late game. If you discover them soon after triggering them to appear, you get 3 stardust.
Best vid I’ve seen so far so helpful, cheers mate
Just wish I knew all this before finishing the main story :/
Also you can sprint if you press down the left joy stick!!
The first time I saw Pokémon interact with other Pokémon was me throwing my umbreon at regeigigus and saw them talking
Correction, you use the L&R to rotate, & the ZR to trigger the switch dialogue. 🤦🏼♂️
@@BJCMXY But you can use X to change to your Pokeballs and use them the same way
About that first point, the lady LITERALLY TELLS U. Guess someone didn't read the dialogue
Omg finally one of these videos that I actually learned something from!!! THANK YOU!
Short and quick and clean. I like your pace.
Great video! I didn’t know a fair few of these tips, despite having already beaten the main story and all the post-game content. 😅
However, one thing I’ll note is that the battles available in the Training Grounds doesn’t appear to give you access to most of the important NPC combatants in the game.
This is literally the best Tips video for this game. A lot of these I didn't know and it's made playing easier
I appreciate you giving tipps for new players to the franchise as well.
This is the best advice ever I would like your video twice if I could
After 90hrs I'm still on zone 2 in the story as I been just running around having fun..
You need four Pastures
@@TheQjad135 That was not the question. The question was, can you mass-release pokemon from any base camp out in the field? Or do you have to release them in town in order to use the mass release feature.
@@RacingPepe you can do it anywhere in the camps or the farm :))
If you go to the pastures once its unlocked, she'll tell you its available. But you can do it from the base camps too.
You've got nearly the same exact clothes set up as me lol. I was scrolling through my recommendation feed and saw your thumb nail and my knee jerk reaction was to outloud, mumble, "Yo. This guy stole my f****** drip. Who the hell does he think he is?"
Great video btw 👍🏼
Crafting: I haven't tested this in the town but if you craft at the base camps using their crafting box you don't have to move the necessary items you've thrown into your box to your inventory before hand. Super helpful if you want to bring your inventory down to just barebones bc you have a collecting problem, like my "friend" does >.>
I don't think I've seen this tip anywhere else yet.
it is said in the tutorial
I love the interaction behavior of pokemon like just throwing your pokemon out in a circle where they can all see each other they will have their own kinda group conversation taking turns looking at each other and making noises. Also you pokemon will interact with other characters pokemon.
What I wish I knew before pre ordering the game is that if you have a save file of diamond and or pearl you can get quests to get darkrai and or shaymin.
I don’t have diamond or Pearl but I got the shaymin quest anyway. Maybe because I have sword?
@@tamsinsylvie4331 ya maybe. I think I also read somewhere that if you sword and or shield also let's go pikachu and or evee save files you get bonus stuff too.
Sword/shield gives Shaymin
BD/SP gives Darkrai
The let's Go games Give festival Masks.
Sword/shield Also gives A shaymin Kimono,
and BD/SP gives A galaxy Team uniform
You can use the multiple release function anytime, the pasture doesn't need to be full and you can also do it when outside the village :)
The whole box thing, having 4 is not correct. I did not have 4 full boxes; it was unlocked once I returned back from defeating Klevor
Pressing Y while interacting with your Pokemon is a thing too, it's sort of a rallying or battle ready interaction.
