You’re such a laid-back dude… That’s awesome, I’m glad I came across your videos right when I am seriously contemplating racing the Old Man class again😂😂👴🏻
Great info Barry. As I get closer to 50 comfort is getting more important than weight, slightly haha. feeling like there’s steel under my feet with the carbon Sidis. Great content.
Not a racer. Couldn't get into the shoe video. But always appreciate the work ethic. You have so much more to offer the larger youtube to community when ur videos aren't so racer instruction based. I know that's ur base but ur a badass all around rider and ur strong drive, work ethic and passion to help others exceed is no doubt ur path to even greater success. No hate all love. Could be just a random ramble. Take it with a grain of salt. BLESSINGS!
Good stuff there, I'm interested to know your opinion regarding the rule change for the 12 and under riders and do you feel it's going to be beneficial or a hindrance for those (like my son) that have been experts since the age of five and are now having to go back to flats for approximately a year and a half. My stance is that fast kids are still going to be fast, we in particular have a coach that has had us training in flats all along and he would race all his locals in flats. The rule is for evebody and at the end anything can happen in a bmx race, all you can do is be physically and mentally prepared and be ready to take advantage of the opportunities in front of you. Keep sharing the good work.
I think this is the best rule they have every put into place. It’s only going to make the younger guys better riders for more gains at a higher level. Kids that starts clips to early tend to build bad habits and don’t learn to ride the bike properly at the beginning stages
Major benefits, too pro still do flat pedal workouts.... been clipped in forms a certain. Level of stroke, for a young rider this early pattern is not needed. What you want is getting confidence on that 2 o clock stroke and holding it through to 7 o clock. With clips you form a lazy stroke which just takes the riders through regardless as you are tied for not the stroke that if that makes sense. Look at what Sharrahs parents did for him, kept him on flats as long as possible... His got one of the most explosive pedal strokes in the sport! Way overlooked, training secret imho. If it worked for him, destroying the field for in the 2016 Games Trials ( see what I did there< ) LOL. Do you kid the best favour and work that flat pedal! GL man!
really enjoy your videos! another video idea: you could do head to head test at a race track: race bike vs freestyle bike (think most people getting into racing only have a freestyle bike) i know, race bikes are faster, but can you show up with a freestyle bike at a race track (without pegs of course), and how much faster are race bikes actually?
But if the springs are loose, couldn’t they pop out by accident? I used to run cages on my mountain bike for years after stopping BMX. I actually got used to them and liked them… Beginning of 2019 my buddies finally coaxed me into being clipped in… I don’t know maybe because I started so late I just couldn’t get used to them so I went back to flats. A few of my friends who used to race back then with me started again and they are on flats. I really want to give clips a shot again though
Good info, double ding dong. I went from Sidi dominators to shimano dx shoes back in 2011. Always felt like there was better power and balance with the wider toe box.
hay barry hope you and your family are well was wondering what brand of clip pedals would you recommend for a beginner getting back on the bike after a long time off the race track. I am running flats now and thought I would go back to clips after I get more confident. thanks mate from down under
It’s ironic that you can drop a few hundred bucks on tech to measure your progress just to have human error ruin all of your understanding of your “progress”. Love watching your videos. I kinda remember a Stiles video from back in the day of your maybe pro debut at Black Mountain... correct me if I’m wrong.

Pre-Race event dumps are a necessity.
Absolutely!
Yes

Sidis. Great content.
Glad you did this. I have both types from my MTB racing days and now I know I was overthinking it. DH shoes all the way!
I’d like to see the same of clipless pedals vs flats. Great video. Once my Diadora MTB shoes wear out I’m going comfort for the next ones!
Watch episode 1&2 of my come back series and you’ll see the difference between the 2
@@barrynobles95 will do! Thank you for letting me know.
I’m glad you admitted to screwing up the shoe switching… I thought I had missed something LOL… I saw you putting the shoes on twice and was wondering

"Sprint number 9, I'm up here in the the black abyss" 🤣 but I love the vans style shoe..I'ma get those so they match my flats shoe ( vans)
😂
Crupi squares and vans for me Barry 🤘🏼
Man! This video was entertaining!
Are we just ignoring the kid rolling down the hill at about 3min haha
Miss my Vans SPDs, wore them out.. LOL. Compare to a flat would be relevant to 2021 USABMX rulebook changes.
I’d like to see a video on the best flat pedal shoes.

An extra 3 inches always comes in handy.
Tell me about it! 😂

That’s a good one! I’ll add it to my list of video ideas. Thank you
@@barrynobles95 that would be cool
I’m too scared to ride clipped in LOL flat shoes for now, but maybe one day I grow a set and learn to ride like that LOL
Ah you’ll be fine. Just keep the springs loose

You could, but with good pedaling technique you won’t
Can u do a video on how to get clipped in on the gate
I have those exact same Vectals haha
Good info, double ding dong. I went from Sidi dominators to shimano dx shoes back in 2011. Always felt like there was better power and balance with the wider toe box.
I mean you gotta look cool hittin the jumps so gotta go Afton
I like blues

HT for sure. Wide range of adjustment
They should do Aftons with a carbonfiber sole. I think that's a product who missing.
They are all remarkably consistent.
Crazy close huh
I'm takin the .01 in your position lol
So are you running bonts or aftons in vet pro this year?
I’m new and don’t know what cleats and shoes go with what pedals. I want the ht sx pedals but don’t know what shoes to get
Science is good, measure anything we can. We can't always trust how it 'feels'!
so, after watching this video from two years ago... what shoes are you racing the Vet Pros in now?
I’m in shimanos now bc they sponsor the Chase team
@@barrynobles95 the XC style or the flat sole All Mountain style?
@@barrynobles95 thx for the reply btw!
Did nobody notice the kid rolling down hill in the background? lol
Hahaha been waiting for someone to comment on that since I posted it
So not much of a difference between the two! Just depends how you hit the first few pedal's out of the gate! 💙✌
Does any clip shoework with any clip pedal

Haha sounds like my entire bmx career
Noted! Take that dump!
Should do some with flats also!!
Same shoes on flat pedals??
@@barrynobles95 Do clips vs flats. Which is faster?
There’s no comparison. Clips are way faster. Watch ep 1 of my come back and watch the difference in times
2 pounders?!?!>?!!@
If u see this Barry when will u mtb again
I actually ride my Mtb more then my bmx but since there’s so comps right now I’m doing some bmx races too.
First 😆
