And playing with blender over the last seven months I realized that it's seriously the most genius conglomeration of perfect logically organized software that I've ever encountered... imagine if Windows 10 had capabilities more like blender like a Quick Favorites menu or something
This was the longest 6 minute, I mean 5 minute 53 second video ever. Didn't feel rushed nor too slow but it felt kinda long and I find that super fascinating. Great work and it's on my bucket list now.
For those who can't afford Davinci, you can do that in blender compositer. You can do all sorts of color grading, editing the different render layers, adding mist or fog in the scene using compositer. The only downside is that it is a bit difficult to do in blender.
Really cool. One suggestion i would give you is to never put fake black bars on a video. Just render it at the aspect ratio you want. Give some love to ultra wide users ^_^.
Could you make more advanced version of it with geometry nodes and ice moving/rotating in water? Also, some sharp glacier peeks, icebergs breaking and falling into water, respecting gravity acceleration, as camera moves closer? :)
How come I didn't know about this.. I'm literally making a vfx music video with a plane crashing into the north pole and I need it done by Christmas. I used a premade landscape model because I'm such a noob that I didn't even know how to make mountains. Well I'm too lazy to re-do everything so I'm gonna implement this knowledge into next time I make a project like this.
Hi. Awesome effect. Looks like real. Could you provide project file for download in video description? Would be awesome to have something working and be able to experiment with it.
FYI: Ice cubes are really just penguin dookies. Just like there are squirrels running on hamster wheels in your car's engine bays, there are peguins doing their business in your freezer so that you can have a chilled beverage on demand. I spent the first 35 years of my life in Alaska, and you nailed the look! :)
Thanks so much Land Shark! I appreciate it. I’d love to go to Alaska. There is such an amazing wilderness there. Funny story... on the engineering panel of the set of Star Trek TNG, there is was a hamster wheel in main engineering. It was too small for the cameras to pick up, but I’ve seen it close up lol.
@@KevBinge That's awesome! I'm an OG Trekkie, and even attended the first Alaska Star Trek Convention in the winter of 1974 when I was 8-years old, which was about 25 people gathering at the TV station that aired Star Trek. Walter Koenig was supposed to be the guest star but the weather was too bad for the planes to land (not all commercial jets were equipped with the proper radar needed to land in bad weather back in those days), so he didn't make it. We were bummed out, but we watched a couple of Star Trek episodes and chatted about all things Trek for a couple of hours. I'd love to see some of the sets and props from all of the various Trek series. Cool stuff! :)
That’s really cool! I think they started using FLIR after that but I’m not sure that helps land... I’ll have to ask my pilot friend about that haha! I’d have loved to go to a ST convention just for the fun of it. It’s a great world Gene created. I wonder how much they’ve picked up with later generations. Being behind a paywall doesn’t help, but I liked Picard for the most part... Nothing beats the original with a real crazy dialog between Bones and “the green-blooded Vulkan.” Hahahaha!!
@@KevBinge I enjoyed the Picard series, and have really liked the Discovery series, too. Good story arcs, likeable characters and REALLY good fx! :) Someone who annoys you when you're trying to remain calm is a Spock-blocker. :)
Haha! Spock-blocker! I’m slowly moving through Discovery now and enjoying it. It took me a bit to realize where it sits on the timeline because everything looks so futuristic comparatively to even Enterprise. I was shocked haha. Picard has the Borg and I really like that storyline. They are a great threat with very high stakes. I’d love to see a series (Maybe Picard) go into their origins a bit without ruining it. Kind of like you never really want to know where the xenomorphs come from in Alien. I find that this far in they’d just ruin it, but if the writers had free-reign, they could come up with something horrifically cool and deep, maybe 🤞
@@FreePalastine2023 Sure! The new version of Blender and ANT landscape have a github page where you can download the settings again. It’s a pain right now but works. Just looks up “ANT Landscape” github and all the instructions are there. (It’s just a little bit too much to type here lol.)

I’d love to Russel. Right now I have Patreon but I do have plans this year to do a course or at least a short film and content. That’s if I don’t get slammed in production again haha! Thanks, and have a Happy New Year!!
Yeah, for this I'd kept it very simple. If I'd used the ocean modifier it would have introduced other things I didn't want to deal with like moving ice, light waves displacing around the icebergs, etc...
Really nice tutorial, i tried to do the same but only with the 3d model to make a nice ant nest but it seems impossibile do you think you could help me with that?

Are you by any chance accidentally duplicating faces when you’re in edit mode? If you do that you “could” be getting duplicate faces without knowing it.
Great tutorial, but @3:58 is that supposed to be a troll? xD Like, what am I supposed to "dial in" with the frigging _subsurface radius_ lmao? I'm sure >99% of people don't even know what it does.

Hello, love your work. at 4.16 you mention a driver to animate the water bump, can you elaborate on that please. Br, happy blending!
Sure! If you type “#frame” (no quotes) into the W field of the noise, it creates a driver that animates over time. Does that help?
