  • The new 2023 Genesis G90 will launch next year and it will be available in the US as a 2023 model.
    Pricing for the Genesis G90 will most likely start at around $80k. It’s a guess but if you look at the strategy Genesis have had it’s been all about bringing massive value while staying just below the price point of its main rivals. In this case the Audi A8, the BMW 7-series, and the Mercedes-Benz S-class.
    So far only the Korean spec model has been unveiled but the US spec will be nearly identical. It will have a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that develops 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque that’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It will be offered with all-wheel drive. The engine seems to be the same 3.5 liter you find in the current G80.
    Interior - Two 12.3-inch displays - one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. There are also 23 speakers available with the Bang & Olufsen audio system and if you look up, the new G90 has two panoramic sunroofs with ambient lighting.

    The ‘2nd generation’ G90 is technically a very extensive facelift of the 1st generation. That’s why they can come out with this 3rd generation model so quickly. Just look at the window line of the 1st and 2nd generation and you’ll see what I mean.

      Technically the 1st gen was the Equus but because it went by a different name the 2017 model was considered gen 1. The 2020 facelift set the theme for the rest of their lineup, I really enjoy my '21 G80, it has some absolutely gorgeous lines.

      I couldn't agree more! Those from 2017 and 2020 "worked" just on one side. On the other side, they appeared not to belong. I have even written to Genesis about it. I think it was a design failing although probably a cost issue, not having to design and manufacture another reverse design wheel if they retained the asymmetric design.

    The 1st generation G90 was a name change model from a Hyundai Equus and the 2nd generation G90 was technically a facelift and not a new generation so this new 2023 model would be the true Original 1st generation G90.
    Really impressed with the overall shape and structure of the design and I think it would be even better as an EV. (Is it on the GIMP platform?)
    The one thing I'm not a fan of is the little dimple on the top of the crest/grille. Not sure if that's the radar or something but it kinda looks like am old Tesla model S and not in a good way.

      it's not a GMP platform, it's actually based on the older EQ900/G90 platform which kinda makes me question its pricetag (also considering it doesn't even have a V8) but okay

    • @JT-fq2bl
      @JT-fq2bl 2 года назад

      The new G90 is not based on the previous platform. That platform is not made for electrification. This new platform is made to house the electric powertrains, and the new 3.5t v6 engine. And those who want v8 power will have to get the 3.5t v6 engine with the electric supercharger. As of now, that powertrain combo is only available on the LWB model.

    • @OlJackBurton
      @OlJackBurton 2 года назад

      @@JT-fq2bl The Genesis CEO just shut down the rumor (a couple months ago actually) that this G90 will be electrified, just admitting it was too difficult to electrify a full size sedan and giving up. Apparently it could be done on the G80 (although with lot of compromises) and BMW had no issue doing it to their 3 Series (with no trunk compromise and amazing performance and good range although it ended up weighing more than 5,000 lbs) and the new 7 series, but this new G90 is going to be the laggard in the class again. Really, an electric supercharger that only adds around 35 hp to propel a 5,000+ lb car? Even the old V8 from 10 years ago made more power than that for a much lighter car (first generation Genesis R Spec)...

    • @mrsoisauce9017
      @mrsoisauce9017 2 года назад

      @Dimetri Drossos the advantage coupes have is simple: aerodynamics. The coupe body style does not require any back space, allowing the body 2 b designed 2 take full advantage of the air hitting the car. A prime example of this is the Ford GT, which is designed with the specific goal and intent of using every oxygen molecule 2 its advantage. On top of this, the absence of a back seat allows the roof 2 slope very low, which again improves aerodynamics. Sedans have a back seat, so they can’t have that kind of flexibility. Another advantage is cornering. The shorter wheelbase of coupes make them lighter, which improves their cornering ability. That’s why smaller cars like the GR Yaris and the Ford Fiesta ST generally tend 2 handle well

    I think the 2020 and 2023 G90's are probably one of the most beautiful sedans there are. The dish wheels of the 2020 are killer. The way the greenhouse sits 'on top' or is separated from the lower section of the car through the shoulder line, makes it so incredibly stately and unmistakably sedan. It's a correct modern interpretation of pre 90's sedan design. Way better than all the modern 'blobs' and puffy designs currently, which makes cars look way too fat and fussy.

    lol if u look at the genesis g70(the new model), and u bring ur eyes to the front bumber/ fioglights area.
    you will notice it looks very similar... well because ur correct! the front bumber has been copy and pasted from the Bentley Continental GT

    I’m not thrilled about them replacing the interior door handles for a button,like what about in emergency situations where the electrical wiring could go out/malfunction in a car wreck etc?

    You should really try to BMWfy it, as well as when you Porschefied the GV70. I'd be so curious to see the future 7 series out of this bad boy, since BMW and design aren't a binomy anymore.

    Dropping the v8 is a big mistake. They could have done a twin turbo v8. I wouldn't by it just because it has a v6. I'll still with the orevious generation. I have a 2014 hyundai equus ultimate and it was the original big body hyundai and the g90 came after it. 5.0 v8.

    I actually loved the more reserved styling of the 2017-2019 Genesis G90 before they refreshed it. It looked more elegant. I think they should’ve evolved that design for the refresh model & the second generation

    Some people want to compare the Genesis to a Bentley or something else and say it's a knock off. If we haven't noticed, cars in the last 20 years all look relatively similar. There's the odd one like the Chrysler 300 that goes for the more boxy look, but every other car looks like every other car. There are very subtle differences. Every car has smooth lines and is very rounded. They're more sporty rather than stately, which exemplifies most luxury cars. They're not luxury cars, they're sports cars. Sports cars are stiff and have great handling and performance. Luxury cars are supposed to be plush, soft and comfortable. But now there are very few examples of a luxury car. Let's be honest - most "luxury vehicles" are just sports cars with tech and leather seats, because apparently all car buyers are either 16 year olds, men in midlife crisis, soccer moms and people into "cute cars." To call a car a sophisticated luxury car for older people is like a swear word these days. Nobody wants to be that older businessman with a bad back from sitting at a desk all day and needs a soft, comfortable car to drive around. So those cars barely exist anymore. It frustrates me as someone who had scoliosis surgery. I had my sporty cars. I've grown up, my back hurts and I want something that won't cause me further pain. The 2 best cars I ever owned were my 1990 Chrysler Fifth Avenue that had the most comfortable interior I've ever seen but didn't last long, and the Chrysler 300C with AWD. Then I bought a Mercedes and ended up having to take Tylenol every day, so I sold it. Not a joke.

    I have to admit, whilst I am not the biggest fan of the massive grill (same goes for BMW, Lexus and Toyota, though), if I were to be a CEO of a big company, I would definitely go for the G90 and G70 to form a fleet. They look so luxurious and much more affordable than mercedes. Not taking any off mercedes but I think they do currently have an identity crisis and that they are the common choice.

    I prefer Volvo’s idea of minimal design. If you’re going to forgo aggressive styling, I’d prefer they didn’t use so many shiny chintzy bits to supplement the look of luxury and stateliness.
