- All New Genesis G90 is here for the 2nd round to compete against the almighty Mercedes S-Class. The Genesis used to be called Hyundai Genesis, but since the brand was announced as an independent marque in 1995, it has been making great SUVs and sedans. With much improved design and loaded tech inside does the all new Genesis G90 have chance against the Mercedes S-Class? The all new Genesis G90 is now equipped with air suspension, rear wheel steering system, first-class seat, and rear entertainment system. The tail lamp is awesome. I've never seen anything like that before. Genesis is doing a really good job making their vehicles stand out. I get excited when ever I seen them on the road.

Yes, a V8 would be nice. But in fact, most people buy the "base" engine in these cars. And as a "base" car, this kicks the Germans butts! No cheap plastic in here. And it looks stunning.
I like it but no it doesnt kick the germans butts. There are no engine choices at all. No diesels, no 4 cylinder model and there should be a v8 and a v8 turbo option.
@@chrishuber8930 To my knowledge, nobody has a 4 cylinder option in this class. 6 cylinder is the "base". I agree, I'd love to see the diesel and or hybrid option for this as well. But just comparing the v6 engines, this g90 is so much nicer than the German equivalent. Imo, "kicks butt". :)
@@johnholst Actually a V8 n/a was offered in the first generation but trust me, the V6 engine is more than enough for this vehicle.
@@konstantinosmechteridis7145 I agree. It's a luxury sedan and not a sports car. But the V8 is almost a matter of prestige. The V6 is enough. It'd just be nice to have the option.
I would say it kicks their butts in terms of value, but otherwise, it's more levelling the playing field than "kicking butts" imo.
Genesis is second to none!!! Beautifully designed vehicle. S class is overpriced when compared to the G90.

S-class still has more features, and i personally prefer the interior of the s class still. Plus people are buying a vehicle from the oldest car make!
It competes with Lexus too which is another beautiful brand. But Toyota has had Lexus in the game for a while so it’s more settled down. But I love what hyundai is doing with genesis.
Gorgeous interior and exterior beat the competitors by thousands, reliability is excellent, Genesis should have the option for the V8. I own a Genesis G90 5.0 Htrac Ultimate always be my first choice for a large sedan I love them. Thanks for the reviews!

The styling and interior is superlative I think, even better than some of the high end Euro luxury brand.
Exterior design is conservative with just the right amount of slight details to make it stand-out which is really good.
Would have been nicer to make the lane/monitoring camera screen shaped more like a *squircle ( and not round which is found on most lower end Hyundai models ).

Same I have a beautiful 1 gen Equus which became the G90. I get so many questions as to what car it is, I watch people at work from the window checking it out! One guy asked me what is is & also said that it looks like a Benz. The V8 has over 400hp & 400fp of torque!
Writing from California: As someone who would be in the market for a luxury sedan like the G90, I would take this car over the Mercedes S class as value per dollar is important to me. I doubt the Mercedes would last up to 100k miles but the G90 would and that's important to me,

How does the new air suspension system compare to the current one? (2017-2022). Is it noticeably better or more noticeable when switching drive modes?
Well, this new one comes with multi chamber air suspension, so it glides over bumps nicer and when you really push it, it really feels stiff. Thank you for enjoying the all new Genesis G90 review.

Brand new G90’s design is obviously descent compared to previous generation and facelift.

@@AsianPetrolhead Hi Charlie, have you seen the Interior of the new S - class and 7 - series ? and don´t forget that you have a lot more engine choices and Exterior and Interior choices for the German cars but unfortunately not for a Genesis. Only a nice leather interior and a quit drive makes not a very good luxury sedan at the end.
@@alengreen589 I think the G90's interior is a good match for the Germans. You're right about the options though, Genesis isn't doesnt offer as many as the German car companies.
@@Dank-One and the most rich customers want many different options for their cars, and thats why the sale numbers from the G90 are extremely low. But don´t understand me wrong, it´s for the price that Genesis want, a really good luxury sedan.

I love this even the blind spot monitor triangle looks premium haha. They really knocked it out of the park, though I wished they offered a more powerful engine because I drive more spiritedly and I'm in the market for an S-Class, but I will have to drive the G90. I sacrificed power with my Sonata for the features and comfort so we'll see!

You can tilt the screen. You can use the screen even with the seat all the way forward.
What is the adjusted Korean price difference in US dollars for the different upgrades of the 2023 G90? In the regular length version is there a basic, ultimate, and now VIP models? I have a 2018 G90 ultimate 5.0, and despite theV6, I am waiting for the 2023 to go on sale in the USA, later this year. I love your videos, by the way! You do a great job, sir!

Personally I think it looks more athletic than the Mercedes S Class and Lexus LS. However I'd prefer a full EV version with 500+ hp to compensate for the discontinued 5.0 Tau V8.

Not offering an updated version of the Tau 5.0 V8 in this G90 is a mistake! As much as I like Turbo 6 engines, this new Smartstream turbo V6 is not as refined as the Lambda II 3.3T it replaces. Having both a Stinger 3.3T and a GV80 3.5T, I noticed the 3.5T to be coarser/grainier at higher rpms, just not befitting of a luxury car. Torque is definitely there and feels just as strong as the 3.3T. Fuel economy is, surprisingly, much worse than the Stinger even though the 3.5T is rated to be 2 mpg better vs. the 3.3T. I also dislike that Hyundai forces you to use 0W-30 oil in the 3.5T which is rather difficult to find and NOT cheap. The 3.5T's water cooled intercooler will also become a headache down the line vs the simple, maintenance free Air-to-Air intercooler unit in the 3.3T. So given the complexities of the newer engine, I'd rather the old 3.3T or the 5.0 V8. All the 3.3T and 5.0 Tau needed was the addition of dual injection (multi-port + direct) like in the 3.5T. Other than that, both the 3.3T and 5.0 Tau will be remembered as Hyundai's best and most reliable engines!

22 adjustable with massaging seat. Seats are very comfortable in this all new Genesis G90.
Hopefully Charlie would also get a test drive of the LWB version of the Genesis G90. 🤔

I do really enjoy your reviews. Did you say at around 14 minutes this car gets 35mpg on the highway? That’s incredible but I find that very hard to believe. Can you verify this information ?
Yes, 35mpg just cruising on the highway between 60~70mph. What you see on the screen is the photo that I have shot with my phone.

I know everyone says they need a V8 but the sales number tells a very different story. With the soaring gas price I doubt how many people will really choose V8 over v6TT. But yeah maybe S90 target customers are less sensitive to gas price. I always regret I didn't go for the G80 3.5T instead settled with 2.5T , except the few occasions where I stand in front of gas pumps.

Looks great! My company ordered one for me and some other executives but there is a long backlog so I won't have mine until the end of the year. Company gave me a choice of driver enhanced options or back seat enhanced options and I opted for driver enhanced so I'll see what I get. I'm guessing that my car will not have the fancy leg rest and things in the back...

@@AsianPetrolhead I work in Korea for a chaebol company so as you know, a car for executives is just a typical benefit here (we no longer get dedicated drivers though so I will be driving it most of the time). I have a G80 now and was promoted last year so they are moving me up to G90! Thanks for the great reviews as always!

This new iteration of the Genesis G90 will go down in history as one of the most beautiful sedans ever produced. I've owned all of the flagship luxury sedans. Dollar for dollar, no other flagship can compete with Genesis. Hands down, G90 is the best value in any class, and their cars are incredibly reliable. The S-Class is still the best, but damn... G90 is nipping at the heels of the King. It won't be long before they're neck and neck. Look at what Hyundai has been able to accomplish with their luxury line in just under a decade. We're witnessing the birth of Lexus all over again. My hope is that Genesis doesn't fall behind in the times as we're seeing with Lexus right now. I'm looking forward to the electric version of the upcoming G90 - it's going to be phenomenal!

Great review and beautiful car. Are you sure about the miles per gallon figures? It has the same engine as the GV80 3.5 TT, which has an U.S. EPA miles per gallon estimate of 18 city / 23 highway. I assume the G90 weighs more than the GV 80 and even though it may be a bit more aerodynamic, I cannot imaging how it could get 21 mpg city and 35 mpg highway.
