How long did it take you to figure out which is which?
Idk I can't decide
About 3 seconds. But I knew what details I was looking for to decide. ;)
right away, general tone and feel, digital sharpening of the iphone, HDR highlights and skin tones colors on on the face, lack of DOF (I know it depends on the lens and settings used on the RED too) but pretty much right away
Right from the start of the comparison lol. It’s too obvious that RED camera have more background blur.
First shot lol! But the iphone did better than expected! There was quite a few give aways actually:
- Depth of field
- Flare (the multiple glass elements in the lens create those complex circles in the flares)
- Dynamic range and highlight roll off
- Autofocus
- Micro jitter ...
Your channel is so underrated.
Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words :)
When a channel with 3.4K subs has higher quality made videos than someone with 2 million
Haha I appreciate the kind words! Means a lot.
Angry Pewdiepie noises
Thanks for the comparison. Best of all and top explaination!
I’m not a filmmaker but this was actually so helpful for me! THANK YOU I’m stoked to see more.
You just earned a sub! Love this channel! So informative!!
This is a great video it’s definitely gave me confidence in recording with my phone and keeping a high quality
Dude I found you yesterday, loved your content and subscribed, and I'm back to watch the other videos. Your videos are really professional, I'll be tuning in for tips and ideas of how you film your stuff - I can really tell you have a bunch of experience in filmmaking! I'm looking forward to seeing more coming from you! :o)
i enjoyed the video. best of luck with your channel bro. wish you a lot of growth.
Hello bud just found your new channel and it’s great I loved the course and do you film these at the ftfm studio?
I have an iPhone 11 and just recently purchased the Canon M50 for video recording. After 2 days of using it and comparing the footage between the two I ended up returning the Canon camera. That says a lot about the quality of the iPhone 11.
That is COOL! Thanks for the comparison!
Great video brother ❤️
Keep up with the fantastic content, in no time you will reach hundreds of thousands of subscribers with such a high quality. Cheers
Interesting comparison haha. I've used my iPhone X to film some stuff before but was never super happy with it. So I finally got my Canon 5D mark iv to help with some of the depth of field issues I had as well as handling situations in lower lighting that my iphone couldn't manage. I definitely want a RED, but that's gonna have to wait a few years haha. I've still got lots to learn with my new camera. Maybe you could do a tutorial or comparison video on DSLR cameras as well :)
You bet I will!
Hey, I remember this footage! Love the comparison :)
So underrated channel tbh awesome quality I instad subscribe
Dude ur amazing at explaining . Congrats
your content it is so good, i wish the best for you, suscribed
Nice work man
greate videos content. do you think you can get more deph similar to the red camera by getting a good iPhone lens?
This doesn't make me feel too bad about only shooting with an iPhone haha
This comparison has been done so many times. I think it would be a fun challenge to film a short or something and see if you can hide iPhone shots throughout without people noticing. That to me would be a better indicator of an iPhones usefulness in a real life film scenario than just a straight up shot by shot comparison.
Amazing idea! I’ll definitely add that to the list of videos to make 🙌🏼
Interesting video!!
This really helped
Great video man !!!
Matti hapoja did a video like this however what he did was tweak the colors of the cinema camera to match the iphone !! And that was quiet tricky. The reason i think that would be a rather fairer comparison is because the iphone is using software to add color saturation and sharpness, so its not the hardware
anyways it was awsome !! You should add more keywrods to grow your audience btw also
Why the hell does this have so many dislikes ?
I think the iPhone SE(2016) is still a great way to film, can you try it with the camera I REALLY want to we the comparison😭
what mic are you using? Sounds clear
Fun video, not a comparison I really care about but fun all the same. Move over to IPP2, get out of premier and into resolve. Skip the grading and just apply the basic raw transforms, right out of camera it looks great :)
why was this harder than I thought? The colours and bokeh were the only thing that gave it away
I would recommand using IPP2. It will bring your footage to the next level
facts
What is that?
@@truthhurts2484 image pipeline from Red. Incredible improvement
I'd love to see a comparison between a lower budget camera and the iPhone. Maybe the new canon R5?
To be honest I couldn’t tell at first. I really thought it was the other way around until we got to one of the last few shots of them sitting down. Honestly it shows that good directing helps a lot. You could have an awesome 25k dollar camera but if you can’t shoot right and if you have no good direction, it’s not going to matter.
I was really impressed with how the iPhone held up in the side by side! Kinda shocking. We've been using iPhones (11 and XS Max combo) to film vlog-style content. I would probably even go with the iPhone over the Red (even if I owned one) for that use case just because it's so easy to bring anywhere. We even had a gimbal but ended up not using it cause it was just a hassle. It would be hard to sneak a Red into a baseball game or take it snowboarding or something haha. More cinematic footage in slow-mo like this though and the Red definitely wins. Keep up the content! I also want to know how you ended up with a $50K camera and what factors went into deciding to buy the Red!
Thanks for your comment! I'll definitely be talking about my filmmaking journey and what factors made me decide to buy the RED in future videos :) also I watched some of your videos, great stuff!
@@AeviumFilms You should also do an overview video like the East Idaho News did of you. ruclips.net/video/1L7GY7vPULo/видео.html Maybe title it "How I Got 100 Million Views on RUclips". I feel like if you got a video like that to go viral it would add a ton of credibility to your channel that people don't know about unless they know you personally. These Red product review videos are really great quality, but people won't watch them unless they realize how big of a deal you are. Show it off man!
Wow.. amazing
Cool video bro! The only problem is that my phone camera sucks for video jajajaja (Samsung J8)
I have a question. What happens if they implement AI technology, import tons of the same footage - one from the iphone, the other one from some expensive camera and let the A.I. learn and calibrate from the data of the other camera?
you can actually change the aperture with Filmic pro
I like the iphone footage more. I understood your points, but at the end of the day is the image clear? The RED depth of view made the city below look blurry af.
And it's overall more vibrant the goal in moving is to make colors more intriguing not fully realistic. So even though I'm an Android fan I really love the iphone footage on this one
Which red please
Compare iphone to imax 70 mm film camera
I own a Honda Civic and a iPhone 11 Pro Max😂 Great video Nick! Super awesome thanks👏
WOW! I thought for sure the red was on the bottom, I'm going out tomorrow and buying an iPhone 11 promax.
Wow, unbelievable.
Nice video
To be honest both were pretty good, took me 5 secs to figure out which one was which. The top one had more details in it it was blurring the background but not like the iPhone is nothing.
Good job excellent
best comparision
Please caméra iphon13 pro max vs caméra red
surprised this video doesnt have more likes
2:28 the sky looks better and more detailed on the iphone lol.
Because of the blurry background everyone can tell which is red
But without that everyone will say iPhone is red
50,000? WOW
Am I the only one who the whole time was thinking the $50,000 RED camera is obviously the video on the bottom
Really, you honestly think people can't tell the clear difference. This is like comparing a Toyota Carola and a Lamborgini.
True. In almost every shot it was clear which video was the Lamborghini for me. Some people jerk off to video softness but I love the sharpness in all of the Iphone 11 shots and consistently picked that one in the examples. However given the exact same film shot on both of these simultaneously there is no way the video differences I see would give me a different emotional reaction that justifies paying over 45k more.
@@jinparksoul Sure, but I guess that's the difference between professional high end film makers and phone owners.
I'm shocked
The video on the bottom looks 100% better
so beatiful job man, please, actve the lenguage!
The Iphone 11 is AMAZING !!!! (maybe thanks to algorithms)
iPhones sure have come a long way! Excited to see how they continue to get better and better.
arri alexa vs iphone
1:18 here the iphone looks much more crisp
I can’t even tell the difference the only difference I can tell is tha the iPhone camera needs to be brighter
I get it but ...haven’t seen someone get paid to do a professional job using an iPhone.
All the videos on iPhone vs pro cameras are sponsored and don’t mention that a company won’t pay you to do their video with just the phone out of your own pocket (and maybe they have the same or better phone in their pocket).
No one is going to pay you to use your phone!!!
Hey, this was a great video, 100% worth a like 👊 I’ve just uploaded a video about how to get cinematic footage with an iPhone and would love any comments or feedback you had on it! 😊 Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next upload! ❤️
i think it was a waste of money because editing software can make any footage look good these days every year the Ks go up....lastyear it was 4k now its 8k next its gonna be 16k
It’s different but not a 49000 dollars different
IPhone great dynamic range
Who else though he was Scott hoying.
Did he really throw baby in air ? Now what if he drop her by accident
Took me about 2 seconds. The iPhone’s plastic skin tones are an obvious giveaway, as is the lack of good quality lens flare. Interesting how the iPhone often made the footage look bright and beautiful, saturated and contrasty. I couldn’t tell the difference in resolution, watching on my phone.
I’d like to see a comparison of RED HDR and the iPhone HDR.
Got to be honest, i liked the iphone better😎
1 second.
The red camera is obvious dude with it's higher resolution capture.
You can see the grass even the woman's ring clearly.
Now show the iPhone footage on a cinema screen and a 2 year old can tell the difference.
I'm sorry but the iphone (and mind you I am an android and windows guy) is hands down way better in this comparison.
lol no, just no. Just look at the DoF or the flares and the RED just wins. Just to name a few things.
@@ChopperGunnerNL I showed this to a few people and didnt say which one was which. 100% of them liked the IPhone. Sorry but the viewer is always right. Besides. Audio is more important than video so why blow 50k on something that's meh. I'd rather have 49k $1k cameras than one red
@@ZombieLife Viewer isn't always right because the viewer usually doesn't look at footage the same way a cinematographer or DoP does. Video and Audio are both equally important. Why blow 50K on a RED? You don't, because it's not a consumer product.
When it comes to video, the RED is superior in every way, the only thing the iPhone is better at is the ease of use and optical/digital stabilisation.
@@ChopperGunnerNL When you're comparing a 1k dollar phone to a 50k camera and the people like the 1k phone better??? Yeah I personally say it's shit. I'd rather have my Panasonic G7 with a few nice pieces of glass and have a spare 48k dollars left over LOL. And also sorry, the audience is ALWAYS right.
@@ZombieLife You obviously don't know much about camera's otherwise you wouldn't say that. And also no the audience is not always right. Because the audience don't really look at all the details in cinematography, they just say "it looks good" or "it's shit", while an actual critic can give an in-depth review about each aspect of the film. Just look at some IMDB reviews written by audience watchers.
Is this video a hoax, is this some kind of trick?
