Just installed this upgrade. I have a 6 speed manual, 2017 JK. I Really like this product. The cool factor is way up. I had a bear of a time getting that plastic console cover back on though. The Shifter is Langer and turned once installed so it’s a bit tricky. Also, my parking brake didn’t go up as far so I had to torque the plastic a bit to get it to go back on. The way I position the seat, and shift, there is no issue with my knee hitting the shifter at all. Great video. Gave me the confidence to try it myself.
This will be great for Right Hand Drive JK's like mine here in Australia. Shifting from 2H into 4H is a bit of a 'bend down and reach around' situation from the right hand seat.
After seeing the precision shifter video, I took the plunge on that and absolutely love it!! Ordered this today and can't wait to get it installed. A little unsure about the position and height compared to the shorter stock T-case shifter but love the look of the B&M and that it matches the shifter I already installed! Thanks for the great vids!!
I have a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Hardrock 2-door. 6-speed manual. You're right about this transmission. Looking real hard at either the 2020 Wrangler Unlimited or the Gladiator with the manual transmission. I've seen the two items you installed. Glad to see how well they worked. Great product. Glad I found your website.
My JL is still pretty much stock but like you said, it makes me happy. Just looking at it makes me smile. Only had 2 vehicles that I can say that about. The JL and the FJ Cruiser. Congrats on the 100K. No doubt this channel will continue to grow.
Thanks for the awesome install videos thus far! I just ordered both the B&M shifter and transfer case handle. Hoping to tackle both next week. I just picked up my JK in February, and I've been working on it non-stop. So much fun!
Awesome to hear! Quick tip on the shifter install... pack some grease on the shifter assembly before installing it and it will break in faster and feel smoother!
@@AutoEdits Thanks! I actually picked up just the handle for now. I'm hearing that alone makes a big improvement in feel by getting rid of the rubber isolator on the factory shift handle. If I still feel that I want the shorter throws, the shifter assembly will be next!
I just finished the install of the shift and transfer case handles. I can't believe how much of an improvement just the shifter handle made! Replacing the sloppy OEM rubber isolator bushing with the billet aluminum piece completely changed the shift feel, even while retaining the stock shifter assembly. I uploaded a video to give a few more installation tips and an overview of both handles installed.
Love the look of this. I saw their teaser about the t-case shifter on their FB page a few months ago. I made a comment about it saying they need to add the H-Pattern to the transmission ball so they match. Hopefully they consider it. Can't wait to get these in mine!
Awsome bro, I didn't know how much I could add on to my jeep now thanks to you all I wanna do is work on my jeep thanks bro CONTINUE WITH THE AWESOME VIDEOS!!!
Jason congrats on the 100k! You're the reason why I'm gonna be buying a black JL Wrangler soon. You should do a meet up so we can meet a celebrity in person. 🍻
AutoEdits Yes! that trail would be a good video since you got the lift on it. I really liked the Death Valley Tent Camping along with the la to seattle videos; because the situation you get into are funny and relatable.
Hopefully you don't shift the transfer case by accident instead of the transmission. :) Yep, manual transmission = theft deterrent. I have been told by my podiatrist that if I drive a manual I will have surgery on my left heel to remove a bone spur (had it done on the right heel - which is the foot I drive with, which is why my left has never bothered me).
My only problem with this is the shift linkage is already pretty weak on a JK, so adding extra leverage could cause some problems down the road if you’re not super careful shifting gears on the transfer case.
I never had a problem shifting mine and always take great care to make proper shifts. I agree that getting more leverage on making bad shifts probably isn't good but this thing looks and feels fantastic in place so I'm stoked.
I don't doubt that at all, and yours appears to shift easier than most, probably because you actually use yours. But for the people that don't often use their T-case and just want to swap the shifter for the looks, they may find themselves stuck in gear with a floppy shifter if they're not careful pulling in to gear.
I would put a few extra of the linkage plastic shifter bushings in your glove box (connects the cable to the lever), just in case the extra leverage causes it to break. (After breaking that stupid bushing on the boat ramp with the stock T-case shifter I carry spares.)
That's an interesting idea. I found that the technique I use is the key to smooth operator status. The shifter is designed to not let the thing "pop" out of gear so gentle motions to get out of one gear and in to the next feel difficult. If you use a more snappy approach to the getting out of one gear, the thing feels like butter. If you try to just drag out of a gear, it will fight you.
With the added leverage on the transfer case linkage it probably would be a good idea to replace the linkage with the Advance Adapters transfer case linkage.
I was looking to see if they made these for the JL yet. I'm contemplating a JLU Sport, which I will get a few aftermarket parts for... Katzkin leather and seat heaters, and a B&M extended shifter. I didn't even realize they made an extended lever, but when test driving the JL, I thought, "Boy, I wish this had a longer shift lever." Other than that, it was really fun to drive.
I saw that same commercial ... jumped to the edge of the couch and said "Oh crap, that's AutoEdits" ... "oh wait, why is he riding shotgun and not driving ...?"
Every time I think I'm happy with everything on my JK, I'll see some new accessory I need to get! I should really stop watching Jeep videos on RUclips all the time, it's bad for my wallet lmao
AutoEdits Haha, you don't have to say sorry, I do this stuff to myself lol. But you're right, it's always fun to tinker and try new things out on your Jeep. It's really cool that you can basically customize every aspect of a wrangler to make it your own, not to many cars like that nowadays! Congrats on 100k subscribers as well!
HA! Thanks dude! It's all good... impossible to make everyone happy on the internet so I gave up caring about it a long time ago. But I do appreciate awesome people like you that have my back and support the channel for whatever I create!!!!!! SO THANK YOU!
Hi Jason, Thanks for a good video! I've had mine installed now for about 4-5 months. At first it was great and was always a really smooth shift. Now once the transmission gets hot, the shifting gets really hard to switch between gears, both in and out, I pretty much have to smack the shifter to get it in or out of gear. Transmission fluid is new and levels are fine. How has your shifter been holding up over the past five years?
That sounds like a shifter link issue... check that plastic bushing on the end of the cable and the transfer case side. Hopefully it's not an issue inside the t-case.
@@AutoEdits sorry I should have clarified it better and on the right video, I realized after I posted the question. I've got a manual and I swapped out the stock shifter and box that switches the 6 speed transmission with the B&M one like you did. I was just seeing if you were still liking your shifter and it acted like it did when you originally installed it.
Oh gotcha. Yes, the shifter still performs as expected. My only problem was one of the bolts on the shifter handle broke and it would spin at that bracket under the center console boot. I called Holley and they sent me out new screws and it's been solid for another few years now.
Awesome video now I want one for my Rubicon but mine is automatic, will this work on mine? Does it make it any easier to shift in and out of 4 wheel drive?
Thanks! Yeah, soon as I saw it... knew I "needed" it. This thing works with Automatic Trans Jeeps as well and does make it easier to shift... not that it really needed that.
Nothing wrong with auto trans... few times I wished this one was LOL . They don't make a "matching" auto handle but they do have a pretty cool upgrade one that is in the family.
Very cool! I love these small mods that give lots of satisfaction! I noticed at 10:43ish, your knee brushed up against the shift knob. Do you find your leg/knee hitting this quite a bit now?
I left the knee bump in on purpose for that reason. I have bumped it a few times while I'm getting in the seat but that's the only time it's really a thing and doesn't bother me at all. I'll let you know after some more time driving and off roading.
@@AutoEdits - Looking forward to the long-term review! It looks b@d-@$$! I'm big on the "clean-look", and I think this part, along with your rig exemplifies that!
Man... prices really jumping around on these B&M shifter and transfer case levers. Transfer case handle is over $200 and shifter is over $180. Crazy. I want them bad, but not quite that bad.
Hi Jason, i have a question for you I've seen a video from another JKU owner with a manual where he drives relatively fast on a gravel road and the shift lever starts shaking violently. Did you ever experience this with your jeep and if so, did it get better with the precision shifter ?
Hi Jason I just installed the b&m because it was popping out of first gear. I like it a lot and it has seemed to stop the gear popping. My question is does it get a little easier to shift after awhile? It is quite tough in some gears to get out of gear especially 3rd.
It does break in and takes a bit of getting used to. Use a more "snappy" motion to get the lever out of one gear and to the next... you'll see what I mean when you try it. Since this thing is designed to not let the thing pop out of gear... a slow dragging motion like I used on the stock shifter doesn't work... it fights you. Give it a try and you'll love it even more.
AutoEdits ok thanks. I have been doing the snappy thing since that seemed to be the only way to shift it. It is nice that I don’t have to worry about it coming out of gear except when I want it to.
@@AutoEdits Already replaced the slave and master as well as put the B&M shifter handle on it. Still having problems. Was thinking about replacing the clutch and throw out bearing.
It definitely helps in those tricky situations. Plus if wanted you can always do it in a way that easily reversible and if you don't like it take it out
For the little that the transfer case shifter actually gets used (most people put er in 4 lo, wheel all day then throw her in 2 hi to get home) having that thing way up there in the same relative area as the transmission shifter looks like its be a colossal nuisance and get in the way. Personal preference but I'd rather have it low profile and out of the way as they hit my knee and thogh in the stock location anyway
Like you said, personal preference. The only trail I ever put it in 4lo all day was the Rubicon... otherwise I'm shifting the T-case often. Maybe because I have a manual transmission it requires more shifting, but I really like the position of this thing so far.
I wouldn't say it's THAT easy given the challenge of getting the knob off without putting too much twisting and sideways force into the transfer case lever. Definitely takes a strong arm and strong grip. Also, no need to pop the skirt down in my experience. Just pull hard and gently twist back and forth. It's the most difficult the first time it's done.
I swear seeing pinto in your videos it make your channel so much better. She is such a cute dog.
Glad to hear this, thanks for the input!

I've seen a video from another JKU owner with a manual where he drives relatively fast on a gravel road and the shift lever starts shaking violently.
Did you ever experience this with your jeep and if so, did it get better with the precision shifter ?
My stock shift tower did do that... it was awful. The precision shifter completely solved that.
I always wiggle it out of the room🤗 ......... good vid.
You got me there... lol
AutoEdits I usually dont do comments like that but I just had. All in good fun. Thanks for the reply.
Quick question...what clutch would you recomend on installing in your jeep?
*uncontrollably passes gas while trying to pull old shifter knob off. ‘Fixes’ in editing by adding rock-n-roll elevator music. 😉
Oh that happened for sure in the first video! This one was just on the inside of a fart's effort... LOL
Nice!
My 2011 JK is hard to shift into 1st, 2nd and reverse at times.
Have to turn the engine off to get it to shift into those gears.
What is up with this?
That sounds more like a clutch issue. Look into that first.

Already replaced the slave and master as well as put the B&M shifter handle on it.
Still having problems.
Was thinking about replacing the clutch and throw out bearing.
Should have done the traction control button mod while you had the console out
I'm on the fence for that modification... good suggestion though it only takes a few minutes to get that thing out again!
It definitely helps in those tricky situations. Plus if wanted you can always do it in a way that easily reversible and if you don't like it take it out
What if I'm completely stupid and pulled down the transfer shifter instead of the transmission shifter?
Then you will go from first to second and pop a wheelie! LOL
Does it make it hard to adjust your mirrors looks like it is in the way of the knob?
Not in the way at all!
Awesome thanks
You're welcome, thank you!
I like it! Good job.
Legit.
Use the back seat. You avoid the transfer lever that way....and the honking horn when her butt hits the steering wheel while popping the skirt off.
@@cleetismcdougall5425 lol I just fold the backseat down. Maybe climb up on the roof rack if I'm feeling adventurous.
Mustang, Mustang, Mustang!!!!
I know I know I know!
