Wish I would have seen this performance, Le Cafe was one of the places I would frequent back in the 80s and 90s, I miss those days. Wish I had such a recorder back when Los Lobotomys started at The Baked Potato in '85. Great balance all things considered.
Nice recording Ulrik. Were you using the Sony ECM-909A microphone? Just put my headphones on...very phat, great balance. Really great band, Vinnie is a damn machine.
Hi Randy. I wish I had that mic instead , and the dare to use it. My mantra at that time was "spy-like mic", cause I thought it was illegal to record shows. I went for the smallest mic the dealer had in his shop on hollywood Blvd, a totally consumer levaliere mic, actual mic showed here: www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0xGq6kMgGRYyGZ. The tape Cassette was digitized "no EQ whatsoever" in ´95, but probably with some noise reduction - I don't remember. Last month I ripped the CD and applyed some bass enhancement , compressor, and limiter. I think the good fidelity originates from the fact that it was a small room, I was sitting 4- 6 feats from all the musicians. Thank you Randy for your interest in the actual circomstance and technicality about this recording. Feel free to ask more :) And yes, Vinnie is killing! and Gary too.
Listening to this in April of 2024. Thanks for sharing this!
