I;ve had a couple inquiries about how I throw tracks together as fast as I do and wanted to expand on how I approach making music and cultivation

nowaydays whenever im stuck, I go listen to the music that inspires me. that almost always works for me. ofc sometimes you just need to go to bed...

This is like a realistic long-term approach. Good stuff. Taking whatever your shortcomings are and deconstructing "why does this work?" and gradually building from there.

i spent a really long time refining my default template that was the major thing that increased my speed. just having everything where i need it is great. i used to use hooktheory to get progressions now i just use scaler. i throw a ton of ideas out like legos then put away the ones i dont like

    Dude, this is great.
Got the program bc of you.
Also, I love how you approach music: this makes things way more interesting for me, since I do ghost production and it can get tedious at times.

My take on music production is that it has two macro categories where things unravel from, them being: Discovery and Problem Solving, and they kinda go along together, not necessarily one being in front of the other, like a chicken and the egg, who came first type of thing, it depends.
So Discovery would be how someones perceives music, perceives rhythm and groove, stumbles upon an event or situation and trys to take ownership of it by blending it, musically, into your work/project. So when you´re synthesizing a lead or pad, each activity inside that process can go in so many directions and the direction you choose is your "Intention", and it can be a controlled one, because you can kinda guess the outcome (due to experience and pattern recognition) or a more semi-controlled one, letting random inputs interfere with results to nourish more potential discovery.
And Problem Solving is like the tools in your toolbox, its the response you give to what you´ve discovered or to what´s in front of you and it accompanies you throughout the process (of any type, synthesis, arrangement, mixing, etc). Like in the video, when youve stumbled upon that patch from rolling sampler and you identified certain parts that make a good basis of a rhythm, there you applied discovery, because you didnt know what would come out of it, but you also applied problem solving, to know to identify potential patches and how to mold them into a rhythm.
So, the TLDR, for me is that I think its important for producers to build a good toolbox, have solutions at their fingertips to be able to know what to do with what they discover along the way. I think its natural for someone who´s starting to spend a long time with correcting their synthesis, for example, because, hopefully, they´ll do it faster tomorrow and break the rules in their favor, to flame usable discovery.

I resonate with a lot of this. Similar to the scientist vs artist but this keeps it strictly in means of the objective of getting music done

I am a noob with Bitwig, and got lost on how you recorded the delay plugin around the 5:31

That’s a third party plugin called rolling sampler. Best 20 bucks I’ve spent on music software

For me, the hardest part is coming up with the arrangement.

I started with reason, switched Bitwig and got stuck and got a push3 because I suck at playing keys but know how to play bass. Finding a "right DAW" has been a challange.

Agreed! Arranging a track is real a PITA, one thing that has helpped to get a better grasp on this, is loading a reference track as a WAV file in the project, then placing markers for the intro, chorus, verse etc, and just using that as a QUIDELINE for your own project, not to copy 1:1, but for guidance.

MakinG sounds, drums etc, easy peasy, making a song start, progress, is ok,...finishing a song? IMPOSSIBLE😂😂
Have hundreds upon hundreds of WIPs, some go on for anything between a simple 8 bar loop all the way to 12min psybient tracks...just. Can. Not. Finish. A. Single. One. Of. Them.😂😂😂😢😢😢😢😢
    The struggle continues

If you export your master at the end of a session, you have a finished piece of music. I really don’t get how so many artists say “I can’t finish music”.

Ever tried using a reference track?
It'll suck a bit at first, but it helps a SHIT TON with structure and all that jazz.
      Hope this helps, internet friend!
