Adding to the chorus-- these videos are clear both in describing the principles of operation and the steps in installation and repair. They have been very helpful to me. You are doing a great service.
Thank you Doug, we're just happy to help! We're urrently filming a series on refrigerator repairs which will be in a similar format to this: ruclips.net/p/PLCo9SMjkdWBysYYCcg5xQLiVh_cW0JQvt Cheers!
Thank you Nick, we're glad that you're enjoying our videos! Its great to hear that our videos are making an impact on youtube! We're currently working on appliance repair so it will be a little while until we do more plumbing videos!
Very interesting video I’ve been looking for this lecture videos Plumbing is my profession I deal with the Sloan Optima products We upgraded from manual to automatic both Water Closets and the Stall Urinals We face a lot of challenges But this video brings a lot of good illustrations Thanks a lot for this videos More of it
You're welcome, we're just happy to help! If you're curious we have an entire playlist with all 15 Sloan videos. It might be a good one to save for reference: ruclips.net/p/PLCo9SMjkdWByMAtNJtJoV9e3hvdkojlRz
Awesome video, wouldn't have ever guessed that you could check the battery by holding the override for 40 seconds. Thanks for the help! Able to fix our women's restroom before the day started ;)
Thanks for commenting FerusZaz. Sometimes those little checks for battery power or resetting are buried in the manual. We're glad you could get everything fixed in time!
What about a short flush or the water not flushing fully. Cant tell if the toilets clogged or something wrong with the diaphragm or solenoid. It clicks automatically but if i throw a piece of tissue down it, it takes like 3 flushes to go fully down
Thanks for watching. A short flush could be a hole in the diaphragm, which lets too much water though to the upper chamber, reducing the flush length. Try installing a new diaphragm and clean the valve seat of any corrosion or mineral buildup.
Thanks for watching. It's possible that the relief valve/ diaphragm is clogged. If no water is released from the upper chamber, then there won't be the pressure differential to open the valve for a full flush, you can see more in this video: ruclips.net/video/bHQaC-gTYVc/видео.html
What if there’s a solid red light on the sensor? Had a weird issue where there was a solid red light, replaced batteries and it was still present. Came back about 30 minutes later & solid red light was gone, now flushing fine
Please show a close up of the bi-pass hole. I can't see it to check for obstruction or enlargement. I have the whole flushometer completely disassembled and need to know how and where to look for the bi-pass hole. Otherwise I cannot determine why the water keeps flowing.
Thanks for watching. It has been a while since we've filmed these so I don't have all the parts directly infront to look closely at. Some diaphragms like ones used in Delta has a very explicit bypass hole. The manual sloan flushometers it can be seen on the bottom. For these automatic sloan models, i am not sure where the bypass holes are, it could be close to the center column or a slit somewhere. These are not giant holes so they are not always obvious unless there is extra material around it. www.amresupply.com/part/EBV-1023-A-SLOAN-REPAIR-KIT-F-BATTPWR-URI In any case if you notice a buildup of calcium then that could be plugging it. As well look for any corrosion or anything that would prevent the diaphragm from sitting properly on the valve seat as this can sometimes prevent the upper chamber from filling properly. If that doesn't help then it might be best to install a new diaphragm..
Hi Daniel, thank you for watching. If the flushometer flushes randomly every couple hours then it could be an issue with the sensor. Alternatively it could be an issue with the diaphragm. If the diaphram doesn't have a good seal and isn't seated properly on the valve then a tiny amount of water might leak out of the upper chamber. If it looses enough water over time then it will trigger a flush. It would be a good idea to remove the diagram, clean the valve seat, inspect for any nicks or dents that might cause a leak. As well its best to replace the diaphragm as the rubber can deteriorate over time. Hope this helps!
Thanks for watching. The bypass should be a small slit around the edge of the diaphragm. As an example you can see the white showing through on this image: www.amresupply.com/thumbnail/product/1594127/1000/750/EBV-1020-A-Sloan-Water-Closet-Flushometer-Flex-Tube-Diaphragm-Kit.jpg Which is on this part www.amresupply.com/part/EBV-1020-A-SLOAN-REPAIR-KIT-CLOSET-1-6GPF There might be some variation not every diaphram will look exactly like this but that's where you'd check.
Hi 4gasem, when changing the solenoid the water should still be turned off at the control stop otherwise water would leak during the repair. Fortunately we made a video on how to replace the solenoid, you can watch here: ruclips.net/video/2b-x3vawtFA/видео.html
Thanks for watching. Try adjusting the control stop. A noisy finish to a flush can happen when the water pressure is quite high. In this case the water is rushing by the valve as the space is getting smaller, likely causing that sound.
These Sloan sensors suck I keep having to replace them in my building, I set the range and it’s now flushing only when I install and remove the plastic cover. Video is extremely helpful however this sensor does not want to program range for me
Thanks for watching. If water is leaking out of one of the connections then you might need a new o-ring for that connection. If a little bit of water is coming out of the flush pipe, then its most likely a worn diaphragm.
Thanks for watching. High water pressure can cause noise as water rushes through the valve. In some cases the unit will flush normally but the sound will appear only as the valve starts to reset. Try adjusting the control stop. In some cases this can help but if you close it too much there won't be enough water to flush the valve.

Hi to replace batteries do i have to ahut off water?
Thanks for watching. When accessing the batteries the water does not need to be shut off: ruclips.net/video/BGbR68YMBC0/видео.html
So I have this Sloan optima that clicks but doesn’t flush, changed batteries and solenoid but still doesn’t flush. Any help would be appreciated

I was hoping to find guidance to troubleshoot ghost flushing in a dark room. I can hear the flush from the next room about every 2 hours.

Hi thank you saved my jobe.

Where is this bypass in the diaphram??
Thanks for watching. The bypass should be a small slit around the edge of the diaphragm. I assume you can change the solenoid without turning the water supply off right?
Hi 4gasem, when changing the solenoid the water should still be turned off at the control stop otherwise water would leak during the repair. Fortunately we made a video on how to replace the solenoid, you can watch here: ruclips.net/video/2b-x3vawtFA/видео.html

ultima is crap. we replaced with a side autoflush.
Thanks for watching.
Why my when I flushed make a noice
Thanks for watching. High water pressure can cause noise as water rushes through the valve. In some cases the unit will flush normally but the sound will appear only as the valve starts to reset. Try adjusting the control stop. In some cases this can help but if you close it too much there won't be enough water to flush the valve.
