    Procedural Terrazzo Pack Vol.1: gum.co/AMUqP
    Procedural Terrazzo Pack Vol.2: gum.co/ngfEQ
    In this Cinema 4D tutorial we'll learn how to make Terrazzo materials that are completely procedural - that is, we're not going to use any image maps to achieve this effect, only built in noises and coloring. I love exploring procedural ways of achieving certain looks because it allows for so much creative exploration and creative control, and it really makes you push your limits of working with the node system. I'll be using Octane only but you can apply this knowledge on any rendering engine you use!

    For anyone on Redshift not getting this converted properly, use the RS Color Mix, not the regular "Mix" and you'll have the same results as in Octane.

      That's great advice, thank you for bridging the gap to Redshift users. Most of these tutorials apply for so many engines, all they need is one or two tweaks to match the engine's tools. So that's much appreciated!

    What's the difference and use case for using just the maxon noise vs the octane noise. I know the maxon ones have more options, do the octane ones just render faster / better? Or is that just more like an artistic choice? Whenever I've used the maxon noise octane tends to chug along a lot slower.

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 года назад

      Yup usually Octane noises are just less prone to crashes and stalls. That's mainly it, I'll try to use Octane noises whenever I can, and resort to C4D noises only if there's a specific look I'm going for since those noises are more versatile.

    When I move the object, I find that the texture moves along with it. Probably the cause is a noise node. This is very fatal. Any workaround?

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  Год назад +1

      Sounds like a projection issue. Try changing the projection to something like Box, and if you're deforming your model then make sure you have UVs and set it to UV projection.

    Offtop question, if i want to make snake to my scane how shloud i do it. Sculpt Head with details and body without deatails, unwrap it and make displacement Maps ? How would you do it ?

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 года назад

      Hmm well there would be different ways of approaching it. The best way would probably be to sculpt the whole thing using the sculpt tools and sculpt tag for different levels of subdivisions, so you can sculpt each subdivision level individually, including all the displacements and everything. Then I would probably use the Body Paint to paint on bump maps and textures for the very very fine details.
      It's not the most convenient, since Z-Brush would provide a MUCH better workflow with polymesh sculpting and detail projection. But you can get good results on cinema.
      Also on newer version of cinema you have the remesher tool that will allow you to reduce poly count on your sculpture while keeping a decent topology.

    Love your content, your procedural stuff is just beautiful and super creative. I mean it. I wanted to ask you how did you get, on one of your texture examples, the little pieces to be either glass or no pieces? at 0:11 seconds, the blue one and the grey one. Thank you!

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  2 года назад

      Hey thank you! I know this is 6 months late but better late than never - the way to get glassy materials as part of the overall material is to simply connect one of the noises to the transmission channel. Where the noise is white, it'll make it clear. Just make sure to also make the albedo black in those same areas, by connectin the same noise to the albedo and inverting it so all the white parts turn black.

    Huge turn-off with the "movement" and "family" talk. You are selling some materials.

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 года назад +1

      I get where you're coming from brother, and my approach to this whole thing and the way I present it is something that I heavily think about, in terms of, what am I actually doing here.
      When it comes to the Gumroad store, it's just some classic business shit. I make a product, other people buy it. I always try to price things on the lower side, which in-turn incentivizes people to buy it even more. Win-Win. Nothing special.
      The only thing that's bigger than classic business stuff is what I'm doing here in on this channel, and what people in return do on the Patreon. You gotta understand that as far as I'm concerned, it's insane that strangers from around the world are actually willing to pay me a monthly fee. I need to think about it long and hard for it to make sense to me. It's probably because I never subscribed to anyone, I just used to take for granted the fact that there's free information out there. And that's also the way I started and still run this channel - I want to put out free information on the highest level I can. That's the purest form creative knowledge travels around different places and different times. I absolutely believe that's a fundamental part of how art and creativity has worked all throughout history, it's beyond me and you right now on RUclips.
      I guess I have two points here. One is that, I'm get extremely close with whoever shows support, I'm so excited about this shared passion we have, I spend hours talking to viewers and supporters who are willing to go deep into convos that click to that point. Obviously "family" is just an expression that shows affection and emotional/intellectual investment. If you're willing to show support to that extent, I'm all fuckin in buddy.
      My second point is that, I'm all in regardless. The effect of this whole thing I started here is omnidirectional. I do it cuz it makes me feel good and fulfilled. I do it cuz I learn from it, cuz other people learn from it, cuz it connects me - a random dude from Los Angeles, with a random dude from Spain, a random chic from Brazil, or Korea, or India, or literally anywhere. I mean if I can actively help spark reciprocal inspiration in people, that's fuckin huge man. It's ethereal, it's beyond me and you right now on RUclips.
      Shit, I'm still figuring it out myself bro, I learn about this thing more and more everyday. But what I do know is that it's way bigger than me making videos on RUclips. And that understanding also helps me realize where it can grow. Who fuckin knows man. And the support is essential to the metamorphosis of it all.
      I'm just thinking out loud brother, just sharing how I see it. I understand if you think it's complete bullshit and I don't blame you I'm usually a sarcastic, skeptic fuck myself. It's still kind of abstract in my head but, way less than it was 6 months ago.
      But yeah the Gumroad is just bi'ness. Go check it see if there's some shit you like there !

    • @craigwall6071
      @craigwall6071 3 года назад +1

      @@NewPlastic "Go check it see if there's some shit you like there !" is all I want/need to hear. Everything else is used car salesman crap. The world is a fraud, I don't need to be reminded.

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 года назад +1

      @@craigwall6071 Of course you need to be reminded, otherwise you end up letting your guard down.
      Like I said, from one skeptic to another, I feel you, but your view starts changing when you actually create stuff that is more meaningful than some work for a client. When you see shit blooming from the inside out it's hard not to get excited.
      I think you should check out the Patreon and join the family. Sunday dinners are a blast, everybody talks about how their day was.
