I agree with a lot of your points, particularly on how our species is trashing the planet and how corrupt everything is with powerful corporations, etc. But if we WERE to somehow salvage the situation, I think proceeding deeper down the modern path and eventually developing solutions to these issues is both more reasonable/realistic and more ideal than returning to the hunter-gatherer lifestyle. I think an advanced society that manages to rectify the issues you've raised is superior. Best of both worlds. And unless something apocalyptic occurs (i.e. planet of the apes) we aren't going back, and even if we did, we'd just find ourselves back in this situation regardless. So I think continuing to advance is our best shot. Activism, putting our money where our mouths are, voting (which objectively makes a difference EVEN if our options are suboptimal), and continuing to have these discussions is all we can do about it, for now.
Electing people that actually acknowledge that climate change even exists is a good start. One side says its a myth entirely. NOT electing religious zealots to lead our society is a good start. Voting is fundamental in resisting the influence of all this garbage if not just to shut down harmful ideas like this. If we elect these people, the ideas perpetuate. Their ignorance will kill the entire planet over time. It's a slow, slow war of ideology.
Mondragon Corporation in Spain is what a more Anarchist organized economy could look like. Between the Zapatistas in Spain and Rojava we have "Countries" that are organzied in a way that Anarchism can look like.
I think society is deteriorating because it is becoming increasingly difficult for constructively thinking people to find each other and understand each other. Each science uses its own language. The roar of demagogues speaking from the podium drowns out the quiet voice of individual reason.
I think nuclear energy is the best option we have currently. While the waste is not really polluting or contaminating anything at the moment, it might in the future. But still we can safely store the waste for hundreds of years, and in the future, innovative solutions like space disposal could become more feasible.
Our society is not ill, corrupted or getting worse IT IS WORKING AS INTENDED BY THE CAPITAL ACCUMULATING CLASS ✅✅✅ realizing this allows for meaningful change and a political position founded in reality ✅✅✅
Even if I don't agree with all of your opinions it is very nice to hear your perspective as it can serve to help me in evolving my thoughts. I do heartily agree with the idea that individuals are intelligent but once we aggregate in large groups we tend to conform to a popular ideology and lose our sense of self and morals.
Have you ever listened to a band called Grötus? They talk a lot about societal dissolution from rapid consumption, environmental destruction, and other fun stuff. I think you would like them.
Perspective is everything. You can list 1000 examples of why society is declining... But in doing so, you might fail to realize that by listing those 1000 examples, you've also just listed 1000 examples of why society is soon to be on the upswing. Consciously being aware of the downfall is the first step to finding a solution.
I understand the sentiment, and certainly we have issues as a species.....but people are dying less to preventable diseases, violence is at all time historical lows, fewer people are in poverty now than at any time in history....IDK it's hard for me to get on the "society is bad now" train. Progress isn't linear, and hopefully we can continue towards a more equitable society.
Absolute lies when it comes to violence being at historic lows and fewer people in poverty. If this is what "progress" is then we need to go back. Screw equity also.
And aren’t clinical depression and suicide rates at all-time highs? Also, one could probably say that this country is the most ideologically-divided it’s been in centuries. The statistics you’re referencing might be true, but they’re only a few items on the whole shopping list of things we need to look at when evaluating our society’s trajectory.
@@G0alie14 Spoken like someone who has never stepped foot outside a gated community or questioned anything seen on your nightly news station or CNN. What your kind considers "progress" and what normal people consider progress are at odds.

While more and more violence erupts, and the notion that vengeance is a silly and destructive thing is ignored by the masses, the best anyone can hope for is a constant, unchanging thing to return to. So that's what I strive to be - a constant anchor in someone's life. As the world grows more aggresive, we all need a passive anchor. So that's all I can be. Hopeless, maybe, but better than any alternative. Passionate action often leads to more violence, so I will be an impassionate and indifferent soul, incessantly loving but universally loving so that the temptation of revenge is never acted upon, in hopes that someday things will relax. What more can I do? Hurt and kill in the name of what I believe in? How will that help anything? God, this is all so annoying.

Philosophizing is always a purpose for those of us that really know what we are talking about, based on education and experience. But it is only a one way conversation. We know more than the rest. Pointing out what we don’t like about our ancestors and how we got here is good for relieving our grief and regret for who we are in the now. But philosophizing for its own sake is pointless. Will Uncle Paul change his life by dumping everything to live in the dirt, or will anyone listening to this look in the mirror and reverse their decisions, working towards a more primitive greater good for his/her surrounding humanity and sacrificing all they have to escape the lifestyle we are already groomed to strive for in our current epoch? Each of us is born into the surroundings in which we are meant to thrive in the brief moment of history in which we exist. Do not tear apart your own existence to feel better about your footprint.

Nuclear power is the best current alternative to coal and natural gas. The affects of nuclear waste and accidents is of no comparison to the impact of coal and natural gas. Nuclear power, either a molten salt reactor or a skimmer plant, they all are much much more complex than coal and way more dangerous is not handled properly. But what are the other solutions that offer more energy density and cheaper than nuclear. Nuclear is made scary and bad by media but I’ve been to some plants and they are not a bad thing. Coal is waaaayyy more destructive to the environment. You’re not wrong about the disaster nuclear energy can be but I think it’s the path to a clean and sustainable future. Dive into the statistics that are not from media and you will understand. Let me know what you don’t like about it and I will explain in much further detail than you will find from any article or media companies because I’ve worked in the industry first hand. Nuclear is a lot more complicated than it seems and cannot be explained in “basic” terms. Green energy is only the way to a brighter future. Anyway you should stop researching so much because you will just get depressed.
Yeah.. I didn’t mention coal or fossil fuels just because nuclear waste was the first thing to come to mind, and this wasn’t meant to be an exhaustive list, not an in depth discussion about that topic. But I do agree with your last sentence though, and for more reasons than just energy.

Although I'm definitely on a completely different point of view I do *mostly* agree but I'm not entirely nihilist with our current times. I think we have a window of opportunity to right wrongs but issue is no one wants to jump through that window, sadly many people nowadays don't necessarily speak. Everyone kinda accepts whats happening even when you "fight" againts it we still go on, work our jobs and nothing will change. Now some people assume that means physically fight but I don't mean that at all I think more people should actually speak out because too many don't and it just makes us all seem like a minority. On a side note: I don't really agree on your coverage on nuclear energy, I don't blame you because you witnessed the height of anti nuclear energy but that was a media buzz that now is proven as paranoia because we solved the nuclear waste issue and power plants are safer than ever and with fusion on yhe horizon the argument will be completely void. As for consumption of alcohol, tobacco I think anyone should be allowed to consume whatever they so please if it doesn't harm others but I do agree alcohol and big tobacco are very predatory businesses but I don't think we should get rid of the product but the companies behind them because alcohol and tobacco has important ties to certain cultures for example tobacco is important to native Americans and the Carribbean and south Americans who work tobacco fields as their jobs and a lot of them are proud of it because its mostly family tied. Alcohol is tied to many cultures and I think its important because alcohol despite the businesses being predatory but places like bars or pubs, their importance is so great that anything I could say would be a understatement. I do support not drinking it either for health reasons or for complete sobriety but I support not practice personally because I drink a beer once in a while and I do smoke a tobacco pipe. I know that could be viewed as a bias but I do believe like I said the companies behind tobacco and alcohol are what makes them bad because its predatory and has been for years and we've fed their pockets for years.
The fact that nuclear waste exists is issue enough, not to mention human error, faulty technology that eventually decays, and nature itself such as natural disasters can all lead to that waste being exposed into the environment. But the nuclear waste aspect is just one of a litany of damning things.
I get what your saying by cog in a machine, my gfs mom exposed me to it and now i am watching as we slowly are turned into human cattle and its overwhelmingly uncomforting when it comes to mind haha.

I agree 🤭 we can't all agree because some people disagree with certain other people's existence and there's really no compromising on that. things didn't get better, we just outsourced the brutality to other countries. they only seem to be getting worse because those chickens are coming home to roost and the climate keeps warming up on account of all the polution.
“Our species” is like saying dogs and wolves and hyenas and drastically different ‘breeds’ or species really - roughly 1-2% genetic differences between those different species just as there is between different races. Sure they can have puppies but our traditional sense of species as not making mules is more a general principle than a rule. Look into BMP - bone morphogenetic protein. HLA genes. Things that separated mammals closely related. You’ll see we’re all … quite different. It gets wuhan creepy - they were clearly targeting other ‘races’, ultimately. Lots of lipid and membrane trafficking differences connected to epigenetic oddities. China doesn’t allow its human tissue to be exported, after all…
Is there a reason you mention nuclear waste, but not fossil fuels? The burning of fossil fuels does much more damage to the environment than the waste produced by nuclear energy.
Paul, I understand that past hurts have left you carrying a lot of pain and anger. I’ve noticed that you still engage in pessimistic talk, and I want you to know that you’re not crazy, despite what others might think. You’re just hurt. I believe that truly forgiving those who have wronged you can lift that heavy burden from your heart. With care, Thomas
Love the vid and the channel but for someone who identifies as a misanthrope you sure do seem to care a whole lot about “society”. As much as it is good to care about others and share empathy etc. this life is an individual experience and it is up to you to define your own experience. I know this is also partly the point of the video - but it does contradict your views on alcohol/nuclear energy.

While it's true that not all aspects of primitive societies were negative-like strong community bonds and sustainable living-the significant advancements in modern medicine, food security, and overall comfort can't be overlooked. High infant mortality, frequent injuries, and lack of medical care were major challenges for hunter-gatherers as far as I know Modern life has its flaws, alot of them you have also mentioned but overall, it offers better health, longer lifespans, and more opportunities for personal growth and comfort, and lastly I would say yes it was that BAD, it showcasing the incredible human spirit that despite that we survived Survive and thrive I would say are completely different states and I would prefer to be in the later like we are now PS: must say this as well I have pretty much listened to your videos sinsce nurse manly Always helps me sleep and relax Keep up the great work, this videos as well including the anarchy videos are very niecely stimulating Which sources to read up on hunter gather society's in your opinion BTW?
@@EphemeralRift Yes it is because it was bad to live in the wild that hunter-gatherers evolved. Suffering is the reason why humanity develop. It's like your video : if there was no suffering in you, you wouldn't want a change and wouldn't have recorded this video. Just like the hunter-gatherers. So suffering is essential to our world otherwise nothing could change and life would be without happiness as well. It's good to focus and take care of suffering to impulse a change, but getting overwhelmed by it thinking we can't be happy unless this or that has changed and all the problems are gone is wrong. That would be catastrophic if all the problems were gone. Because change would be gone as well.
I believe that the world is doomed because of a handful of people abusing the system (billionaires and monopolists). That being said I think life is what you make of it. i’m only 16 years old and just me tuning in for like 28:55 seconds and everything that he said completely just like i never saw the world what he is describing ab how the world went in the shitter and all that like i rlly think we as humans kinda turned the world upside down
When I was a young teen I took some time to ponder the nature of the world, and the quote to come to my mind was, "Chaos is natural, order must be maintained." and I've stuck to that undeniable truth ever since. People think the world was orderly before humans, but it was not. Animals would eat other animals to extinction, until they had no food left to eat, and they would die, all while destroying everything they could, and pooping in every water source they deemed necessary. That was about the only "Order" the world had. There was no balance. Only a pendulum that swings. When we look out into space, we see rocks colliding into objects, black holes devouring everything, stars exploding and destroying solar systems with it, it is not orderly. Chaos is the natural state of the world. If you leave your room and don't touch it, never in a billion years will it ever clean itself. The only reason there is a remote semblance of order that exists in this world, is because humans have constructed it, and desperately tried to maintain it. And just as humans created order, it will be by their hands, that order reverts to chaos.

No I haven't. I'll try to look into them though!
Perspective is everything. You can list 1000 examples of why society is declining... But in doing so, you might fail to realize that by listing those 1000 examples, you've also just listed 1000 examples of why society is soon to be on the upswing. Consciously being aware of the downfall is the first step to finding a solution.
But those 1,000 examples of decline far outweigh the other 1K. There’s no upswing, imo. Last sentence however I agree with.

I am partial to the idea that society does not decline, but rather changes. Just as socialism took the world by storm before people realized it sucked and it got pushed out so to will the existing system inevitably change. It’s up to us how much blood gets shed in the process of that change.

I feel really bad for my generation since they are so troubled , I am 19 and it’s sad to see what we deal with and how people act. I yearn for an earlier time, yeah there’s always ugly in every era but some kids really don’t deserve what they got. I stay away from politics and just try and live a simple, loving life.
I hope you are doing alright, my friend. We must become the constant we wish there was.

You should paint a 40k mini figure.

Sometimes it's the ways you don't continue to use more than the days since you last used, and how to appreciate those healthy choices and not turn them into another addictive pattern but a long term lifestyle

While it's true that not all aspects of primitive societies were negative-like strong community bonds and sustainable living-the significant advancements in modern medicine, food security, and overall comfort can't be overlooked. High infant mortality, frequent injuries, and lack of medical care were major challenges for hunter-gatherers as far as I know
Modern life has its flaws, alot of them you have also mentioned
but overall, it offers better health, longer lifespans, and more opportunities for personal growth and comfort, and lastly I would say yes it was that BAD, it showcasing the incredible human spirit that despite that we survived

Which sources to read up on hunter gather society's in your opinion BTW?
Not a fan of the loud voice videos
