    Finally some decent competion for engwe. Only problem is that they are falsely advertising these ebikes as 250W. It's the label on the wheel that matters. If it says 1000w then thats all the police and law courts will be interested in.

    • @e-VRC
      @e-VRC  11 месяцев назад +1

      Agreed about the competition. Anyone going 15.5 on this is never going to get into trouble. Maybe if they're not pedalling going over 20 but not someone who to their own kowledge is complying with the law.

    • @kevinh96
      @kevinh96 11 месяцев назад +4

      Not technically true, the legislation covers maximum continuous power output and pretty much every single e-bike motor on the planet, even those few actually designed for 250w continuous, have a peak output much higher. Obviously that's not the case with the bike in this video, but the vast majority of manufacturers do what this company does now as it's probably just not economically viable for them to make 250w specific motors. Most companies will throw in a bigger motor and electronically limit it to comply with restrictions in the target market.
      In my eyes, and probably in the eyes of most police officers, it's like owning a Bugatti in the UK. Your car has huge power and is capable of insane speeds but you're not going to get pulled over if you are driving sensibly and within the law, same thing for bikes like this I would think. I am sure if some forces wanted to they could crack down and pull some folks over and word would get around but that would be overkill. Trading Standards sometimes see things differently and they could prosecute the manufacturers as could the DVSA who have actually already done so in the case of Mate E-Bikes.

    I have this bike and I like it. After the first rides I changed the saddle, the original looks comfortable but he is not if pedal longer ways. Maybe it is ok when you use the throttle, but this is not allowed in Germany. The next part I changed was the rear suspension. I used a air suspension that really works, the original had no effect for me. Now I am almost happy. I would prefer a „Drehmomentsensor“ ( I do not know the english name) as PAS, it would work more natural. A little bit disapointed am I from the batterie. As the motor magnet set gets stronger with technology power output will increase for less power input so bang goes the law limit of 250 watts controlling power.
    Human power bikes are allowed unlimited speed but are more difficult to stop at higher speeds than an e-bike with fat tyres and hydraulic braking.

I do have some concerns about '750w' and '1000w' being printed anywhere on a bike in case of getting pulled/checked, and it's not a case of riding it like a dickhead either tbh - I just know what north Wales police are like, notorious for focusing on petty traffic stuff to earn easy brownie points.... 🙄 So do you mean on the Engine X, there's no written indication of it being higher powered, it actually says that it's 250w on it? Cheers for any advice here mate! Also @pvyebike , I read on another comment here that a recently bought Z20 1000 Plus now has 250w written on the rear wheel, rather than 1000w, is this correct? Hiya I’ve been trying to find information about pvy and how long the company has been making bikes. I see that engwe has been around for around 10 years so a pedigree of sorts is evident. PVY is a cheaper and lighter alternative but I have a question about the pedal assist. I understand how the torque sensor on the Engwe engine pro 2.0 works. Am I right in thinking that if I pedal slowly on the PVY z20 plus 1000 with maximum assistance, it will simply continue to accelerate to its maximum speed (for the conditions)?

    • @e-VRC
      @e-VRC  2 месяца назад +1

      That's right. If you don't want it to go max speed just put it in a lower assist level. Torque sensors are good for setting off say up a hill if you don't have a throttle. They're also good for people who want the bike to feel more like a normal bike. Lazier people like me actually secretly prefer the cheaper cadence sensor like on this bike. As long as there's a throttle to aid setting off of course.

      @@e-VRCit's not a case of that. If an incident occured wether someone came into the bike or vice-versa or some reason why the want to check the legality.
      All they are concerned of is a bike does no more than 15 mph and 250w motor.
      If a motor is 500w 750w 1000w and limited to 15.5 mph on the controller, then it is doing 15.5 mph. A suppressed motor that acts as a 250w.
      Only two ways to do it. Manufacture a motor as 250w to do 15.5 mph or use a bike computer to limit it to 15.5 mph for road use.
      But people are allowed to alter the settings to do 20 mph off road with a higher motor, so they have to have changeable settings otherwise they need two bikes, one for road and one for off road or taking their bike with them when on holiday.
      What could happen is someone goes off road and sets it at 30 mph, then when they go back on road, they forget to change it back and if there is an accident after, then they start looking

    • @johnsouthwales1078
      @johnsouthwales1078 10 месяцев назад +1

      If someone forgets to switch the setting back to road use, the bike itself is still legal, the actions of the rider is not.
      We all know it's a contentious issue.
      Probably police cannot tell the difference if someone changes the settings to 20 mph and a rider is doing 18 mph on road.

After the first time I folded it, the handlebar folding pin came off in my hand. The battery no longer charges fully, and with the little charge it does hold, I can't go more than a couple of kilometers. The charger doesn't work properly anymore either.
