nice find. I like old stuff too. I am actually about to go look at an old 041 farm boss that the guy got in trade. He couldn't get it started, but wants to sell it as-is for $150. As of now its sight unseen. We'll see if I can get it running. Need to be sure its not seized up.
Thanks Moto! I'm diggin it! It's hanging on the wall with my 020AV from the same time period. Both are still awesome saws, but I want to preserve them and let the newer saws do the grunt work. Cheers!! Zip~
ZippoVarga Ye I spent a whole day getting it right , I started it and it runs for few seconds then it cuts out on me , I'm thinking it needs to be tuned maybe or it could be something esle at the moment I don't have time to look at it 😔
Go to Stihl, download the parts manual to get all of the part numbers then just Google Stihl + the part number. You'll find any and all parts you could ever want. Zip~
beautiful old 041av, I've got one too but previous owner was quite rough on it.....needs a "complete-complete", maybe just a better parts saw now .....wanna sell that one 🙄
I'm not ready to let this one go just yet, but I did a search and found a number of nice examples for sale around the internet. Some beautifully restored and some nice survivors like mine. It's a super nice saw for sure! Cheers! Zip~
The new ones do require a lot more careful handling to protect the plastic, but the heart is still the best out there in my opinion. I also have an 020AV from the same time period and it too is an awesome running saw. And all metal like its bigger brother. Thanks for stopping by my Friend! Zip~
one of your videos you had 3 small stihls that were pretty much alike, I watched some videos of tree trimmers and they were using the same kind. they started easy and were easy to manage up in the trees..
Yes, the 009's and 009L's. I love mine...I had an 009 and an 009L, but kept the 009L and sold the 009 to a buddy. He LOVES it, as well he should. They're light weight, powerful and get the job done! Cheers! Zip~ p.s. uploading a video of the saw line up.
It was perfect right out of the gate mate! I agree....nothing made today can hold a candle to the old stuff. Problem is, parts are hard to find for this saw now, so in order to preserve it, it's destined to just be an exhibition piece along with the 020AV. This saw wasn't a need, but I couldn't pass it up for the price. Cheers my Northern Friend! Zip~
The 041av Farm Boss is a beast... lots of low-end torque. I have a 1972 model love it. Yes, Heavy, Noisy and Vibrates but gets the job done...
Just picked up one today 16" bar can't wait to dive in!
I have a 25'' bar on mine ..my father bought new like in 79.still runs great. gotta love um
I recently passed this saw to a Friend who is going to be using it on a saw mill. Tough old saws for sure! Zip~
I Agree , Older is Better AND built to last !!!!!

Just got my 041AV today. it's gong to need some work but shouldn't be to much.
I am trying to fix a 041 and its been a little difficult finding parts for it
I have a 050 av I fixed it but I think it needs tuning
Certainly worth investing some time into. Zip~

Sweet
Nice score!
that's back when Stihl made good saws, it's heavy but there is very little plastic on it, now they are mostly plastic.

I hate saying this but they don't make them like that any more. Wow it even idles right. WHEW!!! Sounds like and old enduro bike.
